THEBIMBO  Seeing something here about bout 2.x better supporting currencies I thought I'd have another look after being disappointed with the hopeless support back in 1.x... Well, in 2.x it is exactly the same. Why do all finance solutions from continental USA not "get" currency?? Currency exchange rates change and I want a solution to pick up the latest (interbank or credit card) rates e.g. from oanda.com; LL expects users to manually enter these - even the Apple Calculator downloads the latest exchange rates so LL offers less functionality here! And for every new transaction I want the latest exchange rate OR the rate from that day and NOT ONE rate for all transactions / or have to essentially manually enter the rates myself (LL). Disappointed but not the only ones that don't get it. Cha-Ching is no better but at least I can tag entries e.g. "enterconversionrate" and filter so at least the workaround is manageable until full support is offered; it has been promised...

THEBIMBO  Ever since interacting a few times with this developer re enhancement requests for one of his other apps, Newsfire, I swore that was the last he'd see of my cash. Not just was he *extremely* rude but Newfire hasn't been updated and doesn't even start any more. And now that there's no fair update policy for Acquisition 1.x users it's now real easy to keep my promise; this guy doesn't deserve the ransom terms ( hi Intego ;-) he's setting.

THEBIMBO  Suggest the developer has a look back at Lotus Improv (available back then on NeXT) and the modern day equivalent Quantrix Modeler. Maybe this will give him food for thought on increasing the funtionality. Horizon is just too limited at the moment...

THEBIMBO  Folks, pls change behaviour when tagging applications (or simply files in /Applications); I do not want to tag all the files in the enclosed folder, just that application...

THEBIMBO  Well for over a year now (since purchase) I've been waiting for multi-currency support for credit card transactions... and no progress has been made. Since over 50% of my credit card transactions are in foreign currency and credit cards are key for me to track this means that Moneydance is rendered useless for me to track my personal finances.

Event Maker
Feb 25 2006

THEBIMBO  Suggest the developer looks at anagram on Windows at: http://getanagram.com/

This is what I was kind of expecting that tries to deduce what the user wants created e.g. contact or appointment from the text itself.

Although anagram is a great concept it falls down by being very North American as it doesn't have much intelligence (and can't be taught!) re international phone formats / European addresses and doesn't understand a word of German that is about 50% of my Inbox...

Anyway, hope pointing you to anagram will be at very least food for thought...

MIKE ABDULLAH  Thanks for the suggestions. I had never actually heard of this Anagram thing before!

I don't intend to fully go down that route. I have absolutely no intention of expanding Event Maker to dealing with Contact information at any point.

However, on the calendar events front - just wait and see!

MARC NOTHROP  Suggest you look at ContactCreator. ; )

It's a system service, so operates on almost all text you can select (all Cocoa, and some Carbon apps.)

It's not quite as sophisticated as Anagram (nor the good ol' Apple Data Detectors from way back), but it gives some of what you want.

CalendarCreator will do the same for events (select some text and create a new iCal event.)

AddressService goes in the other direction to ContactCreator; select a name and it'll search your Address Book and insert their name and address or phone no.

Nothing against Event Maker! Trying it now. : )

MIKE ABDULLAH  Calendar Creator is not something I had come across before, but it is part of my eventual aim.

However, as far as I can see, Calendar Creator works by simply adding the event to iCal and then letting you edit it there. I intend to do the editing of the event details within the Event Maker program itself.

TERRY HATMAKER  I have been looking for something like this app. I was wondering if there is any way for you to make this an icon to be selected with Mail? It would make it much more convenient.
