TENJINANDOU  I have used Onyx for years without any fear. With Leopard, the 10.4 version was obviously discarded -- although I still use it regularly to keep my 10.4.11 Macs in good shape. However, 2.0.5b2 (beta) finished its work and simply stopped. I finally gave up and forced restart. The result was 10.5.7 with a faulty finder, nothing showing on the desktop including HD, and the inability to do anything. Luckily, starting in Target mode with my laptop allowed me to re-install the combo upgrade and get it going again. Now I am afraid to try Onyx again, especially, of course, any beta versions.

XENOPHILE  Whoa, dude, that's effed up! You used Onyx for years with no problems, and then you used a beta version of Onyx and it almost hosed your system? Outrageous!

You should think about switching over to alpha software versions. Beta is second to Alpha, so Alpha versions are tops. At a minimum, you should use Alpha version applications for critical tasks like backup, system maintenance, and so forth.

Good luck!

*....

TENJINANDOU  I bought the original Audiocorder, then when I went to use it a dialogue told me it could not be used on Mac OSX. I bought the new Audiocorder only to find that the license expires after one year forcing the user to fork out $10 to use it for another year. This is a one year "rental."

TENJINANDOU  This application works fine for me, but LiteIcon 1.3.1 is much more convenient and provides an easier and extensive variety of folders system-wide.

TENJINANDOU  As a university English professor for 35 years I am disgusted with your comment about language. German is hardly a "minority language;" American English today is atrocious: misspellings prevelant, usage ignorance, standard English lacking; and English is not universally understood. Now as to whether a Mac developer can provide us with a free and useful application though his native language is not English, all I can offer is for you or anyone else who cannot speak anything but English is to buy a commercial application to fill your needs.

TENJINANDOU  How about you providing some free applications and let us see what names you can come up with! I think each and every developer who freely sacrifices his time and ability to try to help others deserves encouragement even if his application can't reach higher standards such as the commercial applications should.

****.

TENJINANDOU  This application is handy for those of us who can't afford to buy more sophisticated ones. The name CoolWmaWmv tells me clearly what the application can do, rather than some fancy title that one must guess at or add some suffix to tell what it's used for. Thank you developer for your hard work and for offering it to us free.
