TEKL I really like MindNode. I tried the Pro version but I'm missing some advanced Features. - A special node which contains a title and some descriptive content, the title should have different text and background colours - Curve adjustments like on the connections lines, - Decision, if the branch is left or right from the text (try to move a right aligned branch to the left - Style templates or at least a styles palette - The ability to paste graphics - Free movable objects (texts , boxes, circles? - More shape for filled nodes I think most features can be implemented without loosing the easy of use. Or can someone recommend an easy to use Mind Mapper with more advanced layout features? I tried NovaMind, where just moving nodes is complicated and OmniGraffle which is to powerful and complex. MISHA I don't think this will ever be possible because of limitations to USB2. But I agree... it literally took about 20 hours for me to migrate 40GB or so from a MacBook Pro to a MacBook Air over 802.11n (yes, full-speed n). And it didn't even work, in the end the user was not recognized on the Air (although all the files were there and my home folder was in the Users folder, there was no way for me to login). Apps and stuff worked fine, but those are easy to install normally anyway. Suffice to say I didn't wait another 20 hours to try it again and just did things manually in a couple hours. Very frustrating. (Version )

GUILLAUMEK "including Cocoa apps, screen savers, and preference panes. It can even update kernel extensions, regular files, and root-owned applications." This is the interesting part, where it's better than Sparkle. This framework seems to handle files without executables, which Sparkle lacks AFAIK. You can't currently update stuff like plugins, drivers, file systems.. in fact, for most of the stuff installed in /Library Sparkle can't help you. I think the only exception are preference panes which can check for updates by themself. You actually need a program or daemon which contains the Sparkle framework to checks for updates. Now, I'm not too tech savy on all this so don't take my word as gospel. (Version 1.0)

TEKL This is a really nice notepad. Very clean and slim interface and not bloated with lots of functions like similar apps. Some thing's I'm still missing: 1. An option where to save the note file would be nice. Okay I could use a symlink, but an official way is a bit nicer. I would like to save my note onto my iDisk. May mobileme-sync could be an alternative. 2. An option to autosave 5 seconds after the last input, so I won't loose anything when my Mac crashes while the window is visible. Autosave should be done with a temp file, so when the computer crashes while saving I won't loose everything. 3. A way to assign Hotkeys without modifier keys. I would like to assign F13 with Scribblet. (Btw. F13 is not shown at the moment) 4. When Scribblet is visible in the background the hotkey should bring it back to the front instead of closing it (maybe optional) 5. The window should remember its position after quitting. 6. When closing the window the focus should go back to the last active app, so I can look to the note, close it and continue writing without clicking onto the last window 7. Nice would be a customizable background colour 8. If possible the green button in the titlebar should resize the window to fit the content like in Safari. 9. An option to hide the menubar icon so Scribblet is completely invisible. 10. There's no Hotkey for the perferences (normally Cmd+, on German keyboard) Sorry for my bad english. iVolume | May 20 2008 |
TEKL I also bought v2 for $15 and it was worth the price. But I'm one of the customers who bought the update without thinking as I need iVolume regularly. Well, if I think about the price afterwards it's really expensive and the update price for customers is a pain in the ass. That's not how to deal with customers. As iVolume is based on the free ReplayGain, you just pay for an interface and some sort of comfort. To talk about the software itself. The speed-bump is enormous and that's the only real big thing. The new interface is nice but it's just a cosmetic thing. I'm missing some real enhancements like automatically fixing songs with missing iTunNORM tags or a way to normalize DRM songs. You should think twice if you really want to pay such a high price for the comfort and the speed. If you own v2 and you are satisfied you don't need the update for $20. (Version 3.0.1)

TEKL Great Release. The new filter distortion sound really realistic. But the new playlists are annoying. I had a playlist with all Last Ninja songs. This list is now converted to a list with only 4 Songs as all subtunes are removed. I haven't found a way how to add more than one subsong of a tune to a playlist. This should be improved. It would also be nice to have an equalizer like in iTunes to improve the bass and pressure. Also the UI should be improved a bit. I'm missing a next song button for playlists or maybe global hotkeys. A short click on the fast forward button could skip to the next tune in the playlist. Keep up the really great work. (Version 4.0)

TEKL "THIS VERSION IS THE SAME" does not mean "this License". What is the problem that promo licenses will be handled different? Here in Germany there are often PC magazines bundled with full versions of some apps and in many cases these version are also handled different. But this discussion is senseless. (Version 5.0)

Speed Download | Feb 14 2008 |
TEKL The License is not restricted, just different. You can always update to new versions. The mistake with Upgrade/Update in the receipt does not really matter as there was no "free". The only difference between normal customers is the timeframe where they get a free upgrade. Btw. do you have bought the MH bundle because of Speed Download? And also Version 4 works very well. You've got what you've paid for. (Version 5.0)

TEKL Here the official statement. http://www.yazsoft.com/content/mh.html I also bought Speed Download with MacHeist. I've seen that it is as special version before buying and I also thought that they are near to a new release as Yazsoft is not the first company doning so. I think it's not fair to blame Yazsoft if someone bought the MacHeist bundle without reading. (Version 5.0)

DNANIAN You can't actually use hard links, because when you boot or use the backup you'd end up changing your archive -- something you definitely don't want to do. (Version 2.5)

TEKL Most big files won't change, like Applications. (Version 2.5)

DNANIAN Any changes at all will corrupt the backups. It's something that should absolutely not be done. (Version 2.5)

SuperDuper! | Feb 5 2008 |
DARYLF2 I agree 100% with Dave Nanian here. While using hard links would save space, it would totally mess up the core concept behind Time Machine by changing these files. Plus, who knows what kind of havoc this would wreak with subsequent Time Machine backups as its "baseline" backup would have been altered! Ugh. Its a Pandora's Box that I glad SuperDuper's developer didn't open. As always, Dave Nanian went the "safe" route with SuperDuper!, which is what I want (demand, really) with backup software. (Version 2.5)

TEKL Nice App. Seems to be what I'm looking for. But I'm missing support for filetypes like EPS or INDD. This App should be enhanced to use the QuickLook-Filters as the Finders does. Also it should be possible to exclude file types or better names with wildcards (e.g. *_web.jpg). (Version 1.5)

AMAR SAGOO As you keep using it, frequently used applications will move towards the top. So unless you have another application starting with "pho" that you use a lot, Photoshop should become accessible using that shortcut after at most a few uses, and later even using "ph" or "p".
