TANKKNIGHT I also do not get upgrade option even after selecting the "Buy" option. I'm going back to v1.8. Heck, even if I got the upgrade option I think paying $34 (RC62 states) to upgrade is a little steep with it being only a $5 discount as full price is $39. (Version 2.0.0)

TANKKNIGHT I've slowly been relying on Organizer more and more to the point that I now have retired Contactizer Pro. I still cannot get any of the v3.8.x of CP to alarm and CP support is pathetic. With Organizer v8.x.x and Notes v8.x.x working pretty darn good I also dropped my experimentation with DevonThink. Plus to be truthful I do not have the money for multiple products. TranslateIt! Deluxe | Oct 10 2009 |
TANKKNIGHT I like how you can drift across a word and a balloon shows the translation, unfortunately it became irritating quickly and while playing with its cube approach to preferences (which is cute, but a pain) the balloons kept getting in the way. I really wanted a text translator, so I copy/pasted a paragraph from an email a Russian friend sent me ... The translation attempt was so-so and looked identical to what google will produce. Bottom line is that Google give me same text translation for free. Oh, I have Little Snitch (great product) running and it tells me this product wants to chat out way too much. I removed TranslateIt and was amazed when Hazel (another great product) told me how much this app had installed on my Mac. (Version 11.0 build 11098)

SOHO Organizer | Oct 1 2009 |
TANKKNIGHT I tried many ways to get the migration to occur without success until I read the one comment about never having SOHO before. I did a restart from my internal drive that only has OS 10.5.8 then installed SOHO Organizer. SOHO complained that I did not have Openbase and gave me a download link. The link allows you to download Openbase and to buy it or trial it ... I did not realize you had to buy Openbase as the app PhoneValet had installed a licensed copy onto my primary drive. With all set up I then tried to convert the last database backup file that I have of SOHO 7. Worked great and had no problems importing/converting. I copied this version 8 database over to my primary drive, deleting the empty v8 database and then restarted primary drive. Started SOHO Organizer and then SOHO Notes ... My v7 data was all in place!! I am still experimenting with DevonThink, but at least now I do not have to rely on Contactizer Pro ... The last 2 versions of CP do not work properly on my Mac so I am still using v3.7.5 of CP. Funny, this is the first time that I have had to use CP support and while SOHO support is non-existent, CP support is crappy. (Version 8.02)

SOHO Organizer | Sep 23 2009 |
TANKKNIGHT I gave up on version 7 back in June as Openbase was upgraded and SOHO would not work with the new version. I have been experimenting with DeveonThink, but with SOHO 8 out I figured to try again. SOHO 8 works! Its much faster and a nice new GUI. However, it still has a major bug ... They said you can migrate your version 7 database - NOPE! The SOHO Migration App starts off great then hangs. I tried using the backup file, but the same results. I really wish Chronos would do just a little more testing/quality control. Deducting 2 stars since all my version 7 is not accessible. (Version 8.0)

ANON BUD I made the mistake of migrating my v. 7 database over, thinking that the unique notes attached to contacts would be processed. What I got was a complete duplication of everything! When you first start SO it automatically adds information from iCal and Address Book. Then when I did the migration it was all duped! Good thing I made a backup of iCal and AB prior to this and that I was able to quit SO before the sync process to those apps. I deleted the SO database and restarted and now things are good, however none of the links to calendar items and previous notes remained. SO could use more documentation for this process to let folks know just exactly what happens with a migration and who should and should not do it. I'm holding off on a complete review til I've had a chance to see whether the many bugs from v. 7.x have been fixed. Though I've seen vestiges of fixes and some of the old bugginess… (Version 8.0)

TATAMI I bought SOHO Organizer 7 about a year ago and eventually gave up using it. For me the big problem was that once I'd entered a multi-day event I couldn't edit it. Double clicking on the event appeared to open up a dialogue box off the bottom of the screen. I posted a request for support and got no reply. I've downloaded v 8.0 and now v 8.01 and the problem persists. No support forum on Chronos' website so no way of establishing how many others are having this problem. Any suggestions? TANKKNIGHT I used to love Notes & Organizer, but after PhoneValet updated Openbase to 11 I had to uninstall SOHO. I asked Chronos, but they said it was Openbase fault that it did not work with SOHO. I thought this version would work as the update notes said it does, but no go. It just hangs saying "Opening Database...". I tried all variations of uninstalling/installing, including the database, restarting and even uninstalling PhoneValet. I will wait and see if version 8 will work. I have started using Devonthink and if it works out (looking pretty interesting) I may move on from Chronos products. I still recommend Notes & Organizer ... When they work. (Version 7.0.8)

Contactizer Pro | Sep 7 2009 |
TANKKNIGHT When I got fed up with NUDC I tried several alternative and finally settled on Contactizer Pro. It has been working pretty well and I've gotten used to its quirks. I actually have no problem even to recommend Contactizer Pro. However, while I recommend the application and will keep using it I would strongly recommend that any time the app wants to update or MU shows an update to backup/copy your current version and in your library to backup/copy the application support folder. Its happened 3 times to me where the new/latest version will have some strange bugs and it has been extremely nice to just trash it and go back to the previous version. I don't know if it is my PPC Quad G5 showing it uniqueness (again) or that the support team for this app doesn't care, but they have never responded to any bug reports that I have submitted. So I just go to my backup and wait to try the next version. MU is showing version 3.7.5, but Contactizer Pro states that version 3.8.0 is available. It has several major problems on my Mac, so I filed the bug reports and dropped back to 3.7.5. As usual I haven't received a response, but than I don't expect one. (Version 3.7.5)

TANKKNIGHT Alright! version 4.0.7 works and has stayed on for over 24hrs now. Conjure is even playing with 'You Control Desktops' ... I like YCD as I have multiple screens and I keep multiple apps running on different desktop "sets". Each desktop "set" consists of 'like apps' across all screens. Conjure is great as a central app in one set and is on the main screen ... Yes, once again (though to be honest I am not completely trusting of it yet) it is becoming my main organizing app. I confess that I am a little childish in that I love writing on my screen with my Wacom pen/tablet ... Unfortunately so far out of v4.0.0 thru v4.0.5 only version 4.0.2 works. v4.0.2 will work only as long as I use it lightly, do not leave it active long, do not use the app 'You Control Desktops' and do not use Help. It could be because I am still using a PPC G5. Oh, I wrote to the developer, but I have not received a reply yet. (Version 4.0.5)

Yeah, the problem on the help system is absolutely related to PPC Macs, and I'm investigating that now. The versions after 4.0.2 should be increasingly better at handling various types of problems, so please try the latest version and see if it addresses your other issues. If not, please send me the crash logs so I can take a look at where it's going south. If you email conjurebunny@me.com it's added to my trouble-tracking system. Including screenshots and/or crash logs gets a much faster response. I have a PPC G5 I will test this on today.

However, I was greatly disappointed and decided not to buy owing to not being able to find more than a handful of stations. Oh, there are a lot of classic rock stations, but the majority would show the big yellow banner of NOT SUPPORTED STREAM. I went into prefs and checked to not show unsupported stations ... Whoa! TANKKNIGHT Bummer that omni is going to "almost" mothball omniweb. I paid for this back in its infancy and kept paying each upgrade fee as i really liked this web browsers features. I understand why omni wants to get the most bang for their buck with their other profitable products, but lately alot of Mac developers are abandoning their products. This is getting very irritating and dangerous as most of the abandoned work fine until they finally can't handle an OS update and/or conflict with another app. I know this is harsh, but now if 6 months go by without an update to a product or like in this case the company announces its free and/or no longer a priority app, i remove it. TANKKNIGHT When i replaced my ATI x1900 cards (they kept over-heating and no longer under warranty) I got nvidia 7800 gt cards (not great gaming cards but they don't over-heat) I was able to use OmniDazzle. The kid in me loves this and I would rank this as 5 just because it is fun ... Oh, i paid when it first came out and still feel it was worth it. Unfortunately i've changed something on my G5 and when i have Safari and iTunes and Entourage running (i have other apps running too), my G5 will slow to a crawl with the beachball spinning. The G5 looks like it is frozen, but at about every 2 mins the clock will change and sometimes a mouse click works and it will switch to the app that got clicked. I did not spend a lot of time in diagnostic after figuring out generally what the issue is. It was fun, but since Omni is not spending any real development on this product going forward i just removed it. It was alot of fun for awhile so i don't have any regrets retiring it. TANKKNIGHT I have loved this since it first came out and I had even pre-ordered my first silver 'mate. I eventually picked up 3 black 'mates and sold my silver. When version 2 came out I had a blast playing etch-a-sketch and programming the 3 'mates with many commands. For the last six months I have been using 2 KVM switches so I can use my 4 monitors between my Mac and PC. My Mac kept losing control of USB devices when I switched to the PC and back. My EyeTV, Phonemate and IRed software would stop working and I could not even kill them with the terminal ... so hard shutdown. It was dumb luck that I finally noticed that no problems would occur until I used any one of my 'mates. I did a lot of testing to make sure I observed right and then removed my Powermate software and unplugged all 3 'mates. I miss the 'mates, but it has been 1 month since the removal with no USB problems showing at all, no matter how many times I switch back and forth between the Mac/PC. I am giving this 1 star for the headaches it caused me and because lately I have become very tired of software that makes me feel that I am at work (I am application support on window PCs, window Servers and Mainframe ... we've lost many IT people and not replaced). TANKKNIGHT After using this for a couple of weeks I really like it. I am getting very frustrated with the update process of this company (Kandalu). KVideoPod has the update check selection in a drop down, but it always says that you are up to date. If you go to the website you will eventually find the update link, but then you have to enter an order number. Kandalu uses Element 5 for order processing so you don't get a Kandalu order number and Kandalu doesn't use Element 5's order numbers. So you fill out a form to request help and after a couple days I usually get the download ... I am still waiting on this upgrade. I own K_Kitchen (also by Kandalu) and I have to go thru the same procedure. I expect this nonsense when I use my Windows PC, but don't expect it with my Mac. (Version 3.1)

SD 5 worked pretty good so I figured it was worth it. 5.0.1 was junk and cost me several hours of diagnostics. 5.0.2 was good again. 5.0.3 is back to bad ... SD puts objects in the main library inputmanagers & internet plug-ins, but then Safari will not use them. So you have to put a copy in your users library. You must copy them into the users library 'cause if you move them when SD executes it will move them to the main library. IMHO Quality Control seems to be suffering with SD 5. (Version 5.0.3)

TANKKNIGHT I liked this with Tiger so I paid for it, but it has issues with Leopard. The last couple of updates are bogus as they are the same version (2.1) and create date (Nov 2007). I went to the site and it shows an even older version of 1.8. So, if you're running Tiger I recommend this, but if you're running Leopard I would stay away until the author gets their act together. MACUPDATE ADMIN It was submitted as being version 2.1.1 and was posted as such at first, but a subsequent check of the downloaded file using the 'Get Info' command reveals it to be version 2.1. Sorry for any confusion. Hopefully the developer will clear this up. (Version 2.1)

Personal Antispam X5 | Jan 17 2008 |
TANKKNIGHT My previous review I still stand by, but X5 gets ZERO stars. I think paying $34.95 fee to upgrade for a $49.95 full is out right ridiculous. X4 does not work with Office 2008 so I PA is now gone from my Mac. (Version 10.5)

TANKKNIGHT I started experimenting as I am very tired of Quicken and this sounded pretty good. It was going so-so with my testing. My biggest complaint would be that it is not very flexible in the personal customizing that I wanted to do. I then went to save what I had and granted I am using as a demo, but it doesn't allow saving in demo. Bummer ... it's at a nice price, but I expect to be able to save so I can dig in deep to make up my mind. (Version 2.0)

Personal Antispam X5 | Dec 28 2007 |
TANKKNIGHT I've been using Antispam for a few months now and overall have been quite happy with it. Certain emails it still considers spam even tho i've said they are not and of course vice versa, but it is such a low number and easy to fix that it i don't mind. The NetUpdate part that came with Antispam is a piece of junk. It keeps telling me that the same update is available, but has to reboot my Mac first then it supposedly installs the update and must reboot again. If i want i can do this all day/week/year ... not cool/funny. Now SpamSieve gave me some problems a couple years back and i made the mistake of stating that on VT so the developer criticized me on their website ... Not cool! I have been working in corp IT dev for over 20yrs and the first thing you learn is that criticism is to be expected and to your benefit ... we are not gods. (Version 10.4.3)

TANKKNIGHT I only have 4 websites and never thought of monitoring except to visit them. Tried DjS out this morning and I love it. This is overkill for me, but i have been thinking about adding product sale sites. I going to buy this deal for my hopeful expansion. (Version 2.3.4)
