SVOOP OSXplanet is less expensive, but hey, what's 8 bucks for a replacement that really works on Leopard? However, there's quite some room for features. And it would be nice if the overall and nightshadow saturation/contrast could be controlled in order to improve the visibility of the icons on the desktop. Nice app! (Version 1.3.1)

SVOOP Firefox 3 (currently beta available from http://developer.mozilla.org/en/docs/Main_Page) is amazing from many points of view. Speed and usability have been increased a BIG deal (beta4 and higher) and it's really stable. Stable enough in fact to make me a "too early adopter". Many of the most helpful add-ons like Firebug, Web Devel Toolbar, It's all Text etc. are available in a compatible version or can be used with only few glitches if you switch off the compatibility check. Lighthouse | Feb 5 2008 |
SVOOP I hoped Lighthouse could help as my router (Billion Bipac 7500g) is not recognized by iChat. However, Lighthouse has crashed heavily on Leo 10.5.1 :-) A problem might be that Lighthouse sets one rule per port, so if your port range contains 100 ports in both TCP and UDP, Lighthouse tries to set 200 rules on the router. That might have blown it. (Version 1.2.3)

CODELAIDE.COM Sending one request per forwarding is the only way it can be done (it's a limitation of the underlying protocols). It shouldn't be crashing, though, so you might want to contact the support (There's a "feedback" link in Lighthouse's main menu). It's possible that the router has a broken UPnP suppport, sending back some unexpected garbage that is currently not handled properly (there haven't been any crash logs in quite a while, so contacting support about this might be worth it!) VPN Router | Feb 3 2008 |
There's been a bug in version 1.4 which may cause this odd behaviour. It've fixed this in 1.4.1. It would have been polite if you had contacted me before throwing around single stars as it's plain to see that this is a bug and no intention. The donation reminder is to appear only once when you establish a VPN connection. If this happens on your Mac even with version 1.4.1, then you're using PPP in a way I didn't anticipate. VPN Router has to do some hacks in order to find out whether a VPN tunnel has been established. It monitors the PPP daemon and checks for VPN if a new one appears. My apologies for this bug, hope other users are a little more helpful should I ever make a mistake again. (Version 1.4.1)

KRABBE I wasnīt aware that somebody could annoy me in such a "professional" way without intention. Thereīs too many bad examples out there. My rating referred to Version 1.4 that clearly didnīt do what it said. I didnīt mean to spoil your good work. (Version 1.4.1)

VPN Router | Feb 5 2008 |
SVOOP How about asking the makers of MacUpdate to remove your rating? I'm putting quite some time into this tool although I don't need it myself anymore. VPN Router is not perfect, because it works on the surface rather than inside the system. If you know how to do it as aproper extension, go ahead, I'd be more than happy to make place for a better solution. (Version 1.4.1)

VPN Router | Feb 5 2008 |
BOB_TM > "hope other users are a little more helpful" I found that Krabbe and myself were quite helpful and clear - we explained in very clear terms what we did not like about the program and now you have fixed this. Whether this functionality was intended on your part or not is hardly relevant. (Version 1.4.2)

VPN Router | Feb 6 2008 |
Wonder if you would still think the same if a bug in your FMenu caused someone to spoil your rating AFTER you fixed the bug already. Helpful, that's giving the dev a chance and if nothing happens kick his ass - not the other way round. And maybe checking whether you're on the current release before spoiling the rating. Maybe I should just rip the thing off the net. (Version 1.4.2)

VPN Router | Feb 6 2008 |
BOB_TM > Wonder if you would still think the > same if a bug in your FMenu caused > someone to spoil your rating AFTER > you fixed the bug already. Hey - don't be afraid, man - if your product and intentions are good, they will prevail. The problem here (if any) is not with Krabbe (who rated the product - I did not as I uninstalled before trying it), but with the rating system which probably does not take into account new versions that are radically different. I see your point of view - it's crap when a small thing gives you a bad rap. See our point of view - a nagware that is very intrusive and pisses us off. We are not mind readers and could not know it was a bug, so we react to what we see. I've had my software reviewed many times and at some point (like most musicians should learn early) I stopped caring about what other people thought. Trust your instincts. > that's giving the dev a chance and > if nothing happens kick his ass - > not the other way round. Well - as far as we knew you had already made your choice, so it was not a bug in our eyes, only one of those really offensive nagware program. See it from our perspective and I think you would agree. Had it been version 0.2 I might have given more slack, but this was a mature version. > And maybe checking whether you're on > the current release before spoiling I rated this the day after I downloaded and installed the program. It was version 1.4.1 and no new version was available at the time, as I recall. I have seen your release note to 1.4.2 and it is not all together clear that you did indeed remove the problem of Safari being launched willy-nilly (btw: Do not execute Safari - use the default browser to activate the donation page) - a bug description (or a release note entry) should try to describe the change in a way easily recognized by those who fell victim to it. To end this on a positive note: I think what your IP routing GUI offers is something I would like to use, as split horizon is hard to set up properly. I downloaded your program in order to evaluate it and pay if it worked. As you have now said that the nagging is not there anymore, I will try again :-) Peace man - we're all just people. (Version 1.4.2)

VPN Router | Feb 6 2008 |
SVOOP Still, I'll retire this tool anytime soon hoping that Apple will build it into the sysprefs at some point. I've just submitted a feature requests to Apple for an additional "Routing" tab inside the advanced VPN settings in sysprefs, sort of an extension to the already present "route all traffic over VPN" checkbox. It's number 5727871 on bugreport.apple.com. (Version 1.4.2)

SVOOP Here's a little hack to make it work on Leopard: Stop OSXplanet if it's running. Then delete the following items from your Library Folder: - Preferences/com.apple.desktop.plist - Caches/com.gabrielotte.osxplanet1.0/* Now reboot and you will get the default Leo desktop background. Start OSXplanet and it works. Please note: Every time you open the "Desktop & Screen Saver" prefpane, you will break OSXplanet. So best set the prefs there, then do the above procedure and leave things alone until Gabriel has posted a Leo fix. (Version 1.0.1)

SVOOP The release previous to 3.15 has eaten all my calendars the very day 3.15 was announced. And with "eaten" I mean the files in ~/Library/Calendars were gone! Cause of the problem seems to be the GroupCal Daemon crashing after the GroupCal App failed to start three times beforehand. No big deal for me as I do daily backups, but I could picture less fortunate folks. Now, I like the fact that someone finishes Apple's job and builds a bridge between Exchange and iCal. But at the time of writing, GroupCal 3 is not for the faint at heart. $50++ is okay for a finished midsize piece of software, but not for beta testing it. You might want to wait until more positive comments are posted here. (Version 3.15)
