ExifRenamer

STONGEY  Wonderful little program. Unfortunately, can't use it as a plug-in to Snow Leopard's Image Capture. Worked on Tiger as an automated task after import, but not in SL. Grrr.

Please update!

JONATHANPATT  I concur—this is a fantastic application and I was using it almost daily with Image Capture in Leopard, but since Snow Leopard's Image Capture has broken ExifRenamer's compatibility with it, I have to run it manually every time I download a batch of images. I'd love to have an update that makes it work automatically again.

STONGEY  Looks neat, but when I open it in Tiger, a message box appears asking me if I want to download the Tiger version. I click OK, but nothing happens. I think it's linked to the author's old URL that is in the Read Me. Account no longer exists and the new webpage doesn't have the tiger version.

****.

STONGEY  This app is great! I use it get the time/date right when I make panoramas. Just drag the finished panorama JPG next to the last source photo and presto.

I would like to see it able to handle individual photos, however. I'm now trying to match up a series of photos from one camera that (for some reason) wasn't recording EXIF and interleave them with pics from two other cameras. I essentially had to put each no-EXIF picture in its own folder so I could get them all lined up individually. Luckily Folder Splitter (http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/23175/folder-splitter) does just that.

Thanks to the dev for this one!

STONGEY   I tried running it on Tiger and it sees my Nikon D40 but crashes when "grabbing" it. Guess I really do need Leopard... Would love to see this app allow remote capture using the Apple Remote as well.

STONGEY  Actually a question...

Is the NTFS write-ability faster than accessing my NTFS drive through a network share off of a Windows box?

Just curious...

PEN_SQ  No, using a gigabit ethernet connection moves data up to 30MB/s (to a 50MB/s drive). When I use a 20MB/s USB drive, an NTFS write goes at best 4MB/s.

There's some technical issue where OS-X gives all-or-nothing caching for disk access, which the NTFS driver has to opt out of.

How about using Parallels/VMWare to attach a USB drive to a virtual windows, and then drag files between MacFinder and MS-Explorer? That should give reasonably fast access. (Now I have to try it out!)

Senuti

STONGEY  I used to like Senuti, but noticed the last couple of times that I've used it, it doesn't copy all of my songs. It misses a seemingly random number of random tracks uncopied. With a large collection, you can imagine the frustration trying to find those missing tracks... so I'm looking for an alternative program.

Is this perhaps caused by multilingual characters in the tags? Dunno.

I wished it worked, because I quite liked the interface.

STONGEY  Love this app, but would like to see it's functionality converge with Clutter.

Things to like about Clutter:

- collect your favourites rather than having to scroll through whole list

- right click and access individual songs from the album for play (would love to see "copy to iPod" as well...)

Would also love to see a cancel button appear in the search textbox, kinda like iTunes does with the little 'x' that shows up on the right hand side. It wasn't intuitive to me to understand how to cancel a search.

Would also love to see next and previous arrows on either side of the scroll bar and auto scrolling when I mouse over the edges of the image collection.

Would love to see a filter to allow exclusion of individual albums (based on name).

Will stop ranting now. Great app all in all. Thanks and keep it up!
