STAR-AFFINITY Well, I too think 3.5.4 is faster than before. For example I don't remember the scrolling being as smooth as in Safari, which it certainly is now. Maybe you're right; it might just be placebo, but I absolutely didn't expect it to be any different from before plus it's not always every change is written in the release notes. I might be wrong though, haven't done any side-by-side comparing. :) Anyway, Flash is still more heavy on the processor(s) in Firefox compared to Safari. Don't know about the new 3.6 beta though. Apple iTunes | Sep 23 2009 |
STAR-AFFINITY @KENBOTWINICK and @JONV The problem was that the zoom button behavior in iTunes 9.0 didn't make sense. It's supposed to ”toggle between the standard state and the user state”? iTunes 9 didn't do that, at least not in a way that it felt reasonable (I never understood it at least...). While not many, there are several apps that doesn't zoom the window to the entire screen when clicking the zoom button. Safari (as mentioned), Preview, Finder, Word, Photoshop to mention a few. Even if it doesn't always make sense to make the window cover the entire screen when clicking the zoom button, it's more consistent than the way it is now. At least I think it should be more clear to the user why it's behaving in a certain way (i.e. not zooming the window to cover the entire screen). This was absolutely not the case in iTunes 9.0. Also, just because you can zoom a window to the entire screen with one click doesn't mean you have to... One example of where it's unclear what the zoom button does in Safari: Look at Apple.com in Safari and have the window narrow enough to give you a horizontal scroll bar. Clicking the zoom button doesn't get rid of the scroll bar, which it should. This seems more related to the web browser engine since it also happens in other Webkit based browsers like OmniWeb, but still. It's confusing for the user. Safari can also behave strange if clicking the zoom button when a PDF is viewed using OS X's built-in PDF engine. Try looking at this PDF for example: PDF http://www.yellow-sunshine.com/speisekarte_A3_eng.pdf When I click the zoom button in Safari while viewing that the window just jumps to some seemingly random place on the screen! Would definitely make more sense to zoom to full screen there. Or - if not zooming full screen, make it easy to understand why the window zoom behaves the way it does. (Version 9.0.1)

Apple iTunes | Sep 23 2009 |
STAR-AFFINITY @KENBOTWINICK Well, since there's no consistency in how the zoom button works in other apps (it doesn't always ”maximize” and ”restore” in other apps) I don't see the big deal in having the zoom button switch to the mini player. At least that's better than how it was in iTunes 9.0 where it was behaving totally wacko. Since I for iTunes can see a point in having the window cover the entire screen (long album and song names for example) I think it would be OK if the zoom button in iTunes maximized the window and option-click switched to the mini player. Or maybe even have a separate button for switching to the mini player. (Version 9.0.1)

STAR-AFFINITY Wish I could say the same, but since I can't map the ”back” and ”forward” function to buttons on my mouse it doesn't win my heart. The reason is that I run Mac OS X in English but use a Swedish keyboard layout. In all other apps this is not a problem since I have mapped the keys ”cmd”, ”alt” and ”8” to ”Back” and ”cmd”, ”alt” and ”9” to ”Forward. This gives ”cmd [” and ”cmd ]” which is ”Back” and ”Forward” in the English Mac OS X menus. In Firefox this doesn't work. The ”History” menu just blinks when I press the key combo for ”Back” or ”Forward”. The funny/silly thing is that it works if the History menu first is opened (pulled down) and then the key combo is pressed! :-S What's up with that? :) (Version 3.5.2)

And sometimes a voice say ”egg time” (?) in conjunction with the car flipping. Also the camera handling doesn't always feel optimal at times. I'm sorry to say, but over all it feels like the game is a bit unfinished. More like a demo of a potential future game. The graphics run very smooth with ”everything maxed out” on the ”generation before current” MacBook Pro I have. At the same time the graphics aren't that sophisticated so I guess it should run very smooth... I'd like to see more of a racing track game (start to finnish) with bonuses and jumps. STAR-AFFINITY Impressive. This game manages to *TOTALLY FREEZE* my MacBook Pro when loading the first level. Can't force quit with Cmd + option/alt + esc. Have to force shut down the computer by holding down the power button. Feels like I'm using a Commodore 64 or something... but hey! It's 2007 and I'm on Mac OS X! It would be better if the games freezing power was used to re-freeze the melting arctics. :P (Version 1.0.1)

STAR-AFFINITY "Before people speak I wish they would simply have some idea of what they are talking about." Totally agree on that one. All over the internet you see people write like they knew what they're talking about when the fact is they have no clue. :( (Version 1.15.1)

STAR-AFFINITY I don't have any problems with the menus looking the way they do now. I think the look is more clean without the stripes. The menus look "3D" enough to me because of the drop shadow. However I agree that it'd bee cool to be able to customize the looks of the menus. People have different taste and preferences. :) (Version 1.5.2)

STAR-AFFINITY I quickly noticed that Shiira 2.0 scrolls smoother than the current version of Safari. How can this be? Try both browsers by scrolling the main MacUpdate page up and down with the browser window covering the enire screen. (Version 2.0)

STAR-AFFINITY The "GoogleDesktopDae" daemon every other five soconds eat about 30% to 50% processing power on the MacBook Pro Core 2 Duo 2, 3 Ghz with 2 GB RAM I have. Fans start to make noise. Think I will remove it for now... (Version 1.0.0.155)

STAR-AFFINITY This release is wickedly awesome! The corners for windows in QuickTime Player look good and also the selection in the Finder side bar can be nice and gray, just the way I want. :) Makes iTunes look great too. Graphite everywhere makes those important things like pictures, videos and icons stand out from the GUI. Donation coming! :) (Version 1.5)

Both the above comments gave me a good laugh. Thank you guys! :) I think the icon represents a mouth and and ear. I agree it looks quite nasty. The app seems awesome however. (Version 4.5.13)

Love the smoothness of OpenGL scrolling. :) Now if it only could display PDF-files and if the cursor would hide after a while in full screen mode it'd be even better. (Version 2.0)

If you've come this far at the age of 13 your going to be an amazing developer when you 're a grownup. :) That means...when it was year 2000 you were like.....SEVEN! :D Too bad I can't download your app because of the bandwidth limit. But maybe later... Anyway, good luck with future development and the rest of your life! :) (Version 1.0)

Much better than the current set of icons for Smultron. To be picky I do think the seeds on the Smultron are a bit too red though. Should be more green/yellowish. =) (Version 1.0)

STAR-AFFINITY Well, I like Safari best. Firefox feels too much like a Windows app. Heck — it even feels better on Windows. It's mostly the buttons and pop-up menus that look feel different. They are best in Safari then Camino and lastly Firefox. In my opinion that is. =) (Version 1.5.0.6)

STAR-AFFINITY I just wonder; when will Mac gamers get the awesome 3D sound that Windows gamers enjoy in Blizzard's and other companies games? It's quite a big difference than the "standard" stereo that's used in most Mac games. (Version 1.20d)

STAR-AFFINITY I tried again, and when it was started and had never been used in any application it took about 9,5 MB RAM on my machine with a total of 640 MB RAM. I then did the "open" command in TextEdit and then Default Folder grabbed a total of about 17 MB. Funny if it stays around 9 MB all the time for you. Funny but good. For you. :) (Version 2.5b3)
