SNOZDOP Strange how that ignition.de web-site links to feisar.com for technical support instead of providing their own... And they've reproduced content from feisar.com without permission too... Doesn't bode well... (Version 1.7.2)

SNOZDOP Judging by your comments in the FoneLink reviews (http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/25060) it appears you do own a K800, not a K810. They are different phones! The K800 is natively supported by iSync 2.4 - the K810 is not - therefore the above Phone Plugin is required. (Version 1.5.7)

SNOZDOP Nobody has suggested you buy something you don't need. However, the fact is, none of the phones listed above, are supported natively by the latest iSync... http://www.apple.com/macosx/features/isync/devices.html ...including your 'K810'. Are you sure that your phone isn't the K800 or K610 - which are supported natively? (Version 1.5.7)

SNOZDOP Well, I want to like this program, so decided to give v1.0.1 a try. Only one of my previous comments has been address (Time Tunnel window closing). Anyway, I tried to overlook the UI and attempted to use the program. Here are the bugs I found within 30 minutes: (Tested with Sony Ericsson W610 and K510) - All phone numbers appear in Japanese characters - Home & Work addresses are not displayed in correct order - Home & Work addresses are truncated - Birthday shows completely wrong date & is truncated - Email addresses are truncated - When connecting to the phone a second time, it doesn't load contacts from the phone, you have to press 'Refresh from phone' for them to show up. - Contact Notes are truncated Organizer > Events & Tasks - Tasks do not show date and time of reminder - Gives error: "An unspecified error occurred. Location: Bluetooth communication. Error: Can't find explanation (-103) on K510i - K510i says "Session failed. Invalid server response" - Device Inbox is clickable, but does nothing - Occasionally its possible to have both Pictures & Videos highlighted together The method of deleting a 'known device' is not obvious. The application has unexpectedly quit 3 times on the Connection Center screen So, this is most definately not worthy of a 1.0 release. It is very buggy, which makes it unusable for me. It's a real shame, because if it worked well, and the UI was improved dramatically, it would be great. (Version 1.0.1)

thanks for the detailed feedback. We would like you to help us improving FoneLink as soon as possible. Can you send us the crash reports to fuellemann@novamedia.de ? To do so, press the "Shift" key and go to the HELP menu, then select FoneLink HELP. A report will be generated which you can then mail to us. Jan Fuellemann (nova media) (Version 1.0.1)

FoneLink | May 30 2007 |
SNOZDOP Downloaded this and been playing with it for a few hours... It's an interesting and potentially useful concept, mixing features from MacMedia's PhoneAgent and Mira's BluePhoneElite, however, I can't help thinking that this is much more a 0.x beta release than a final 1.0 release. There are lots of inconsistencies in the UI, wording used, spelling and grammatical errors, and a few bugs. For instance, on opening the app for the first time it instructs you to "Please click on the Setup Wizard to add a new device...", however, there is nothing labelled "Setup Wizard" anywhere on screen or in the menus, nor any obvious button to click. By rolling over the graphic in the center of the window you get a grey box fade in. This area, apparently, is the place to click! Nothing like a normal Mac UI button. Then after clicking this 'area', it opens a window called "FoneLink Assistant" (not "Setup Wizard"). I appreciate that the developers are not native English speakers but there are too many grammatical errors and spelling mistakes throughout. Why not get a few native English speakers to test and correct all these errors before releasing the product? It would hugely improve the professional look as currently it appears quite amateurish. Examples: "To link you mobile phone, please activate bluetooth on the computer and the mobile to." And, "quering device" instead of "Querying Device..." When previewing file information some of the info labels are in German. The user interface is all over the place. There is no consistency whatsoever, either to itself, or other Mac applications. - Nothing lines up (text, borders, window edges) - No consistency to fonts, sizes and weights used - Inconsistent rollover/click feedback on icons - The left-hand panel of the 'Mobile Finder', 'Organizer' and 'Media Center' windows are all different, even though they display similar info. It appears the designers have attempted to 'borrow' various bits of UI design from various other Mac applications. But in doing so, they have combined them into a Frankensteins monster mish-mash of styles. The main window is vaguely iTunes style, but has 'aqua' gadgets on the grey background, unlike iTunes. The font used in the icon, list and column views changes size and font when you change views, unlike the Finder (and the icons are wrong and placed awkwardly). The Volume slider, Play button and Time indicator again, are similar to iTunes/QT, but not consistent and poorly drawn. However, in the 'NovaMediaBrowser' window, the iTunes/QT-style Play button IS used. Progress bars appear overlaid in semi-transparent rounded corner boxes and are not Mac-standard, and appear to be poorly imitated 'Aperture'-style dialogs. Headings in the Phone Settings page are in green rounded rectangles, which I have never seen in any Mac application, nor anywhere else in FoneLink! There seems to be no way to close the "Time Tunnel" window after opening it (no close gadget), and the design of this window is obviously a poor rip-off of Apple's "Time Machine" interface. The designers should seriously look at the Apple UI Guidelines or other well-designed Mac applications for inspiration (Xtorrent springs to mind). There are clearly a few bugs that need to be sorted out too. It doesn't read/show contact photos assigned to Contacts in the phone and viewed in the Organiser section. I like the idea of the program, but it looks too much like one of the many badly designed Windows applications trying to imitate a Mac application, rather than a true Mac app. I would purchase it, but can't bring myself to use it anymore. The UI just annoys my eyes too much! (Version 1.0)

thank you very much for your valuable comments and the time it took you to test FoneLink and to write down this review. It looks like FoneLink works fine but we have to work on some Interface glitches ;-) We have received many comments about the GUI and nearly all of them positive. But you are right that glitches have to be fixed asap. We are working to correct them as I write this and the same goes for parts of the english translation. An update to FoneLink will be available soon. Jan Fuellemann (Version 1.0)

Bluetooth vCard Blaster | May 22 2007 |
SNOZDOP I'm not entirely sure why this application is needed. Most of its functionality is already built-in to the Mac Address Book. By choosing the "Send this card..." (for single vCards) or "Send these cards..." (for multiples) on the "Card" menu in Address Book you can send vCards directly. Also, Address Book allows you to change the vCard format between 2.1 and 3.0 for devices which support one or the other. Finally, Address Book allows you to pick and choose which Contacts to send, whereas this application only allows you to send ALL contacts, which you may not want all on your phone. This application also repeatedly 'unexpectedly quits' if I press the 'Stop' button whilst it is trying to connect to my phone. (Version 1.0)

CDFinder | May 22 2007 |
SNOZDOP The "Brand new user interface" seems a bit broken in places. After searching existing catalogs, the "Found Items" window appears, but there are blank areas in the space above the search results, with just a few vertical and horizontal dividers and a right-facing arrow. If I click on an item in the Found list, then a couple of the blank spaces are populated with the Disk and Folder name, but the rest stay blank. I've no idea what these areas are for! It looks unfinished. In fact, the whole user interface layout, even after its overhaul looks quite un-Mac like and inconsistent with the OS and other apps. (Version 5.0)

NORBERT M. DOERNER Uh, blank areas, that sounds scary ;-) Well, as you already use CDFinder, you already know that CDFinder uses the header section of the Found Items window to display information about the volume that the selected item belongs to. That hasn't change since CDFinder 4.7. But of course, what does a savvy Mac user do if there are areas of unknown content? Yes, hover with the mouse over it. And after a short while, you get a nice yellow text explaining what would be seen there. Or, you could have a look at the comprehensive CDFinder Users Guide, as this also explains this quite well... But I still don't see how that would be un-Mac like? But you are right, CDFinder should select the first Found Item after finishing a Find operation, causing the scary blank areas to be filled with important information... (Version 5.0)

DashBuster | May 7 2007 |
SNOZDOP Although it doesn't mention it anywhere, here in the Product Description, on the authors web-site, or in the widget itself, this does not appear to work with Blockbuster Online in the UK. Whenever I try to log-in with my known working email and password, I just get a "Login failed" message. I can log-in via the www.blockbuster.co.uk web-site perfectly. So I guess this is yet another US-only product where the author fails to realise there is a world outside the shores of the USA. If you don't make your product work for everyone, at least mention its limitations so that people outside the US don't waste their time downloading it. (Version .82b)

JJONES My apologies for not addressing the international market. DashBuster was initially developed for my own use. As an American user I was entirely unaware that Blockbuster has a different site for users in the UK. I do not have access to a Blockbuster UK, but would love to make DashBuster compatible for international users. (Version 0.9)

LESHUAMI hi there, i'm thinking of getting a SE W880 as well but i'm concern about how compatible it will be with my Mac. I see you've had great results with the plug-in so i just wanted to ask what version of Mac and Isync you're using and if that makes a difference to the syncing process. I have a Mac OS 10.5.1 and isync 3.0 you think it will work well? thanks again (Version 1.6.7)

iGTD | Apr 10 2007 |
SNOZDOP You obviously haven't looked for viable alternatives to PayPal. Almost all want a hefty monthly fee, which for a Free product could easily wipe out a whole months donations in one go. PayPal also allows non PayPal account holders to pay via a credit/debit card without signing up. So is probably the most widely, and easily implemented payment solution. Yes, its not perfect, and not all countries can pay via PayPal (even with a credit card). But without the developer having to pay out money, its possibly the only option... (Version 1.3.4.1)

SNOZDOP Blimey! I spend more time downloading the daily(?) updates to iGTD than I do actually using it!! It's great that it gets updated so often, but a pain in the neck to keep on top of. Please can you seriously consider implementing Sparkle - the application self-updating module? http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/20366 Thanks!! (Version 1.3.4.1)

Aqua4SonyEricsson | Feb 7 2007 |
SNOZDOP Yes, but the ONLY way you can check a theme works 100% perfectly is to test it on the phone it is designed for. You cannot rely on the preview screens in the Theme Creation software because they are not accurate at all. You will need to test and tweak many times until perfect. (Version 0.1b)

Sony Ericsson Mac Themes | Feb 7 2007 |
SNOZDOP Cool! These are very nicely done. By far the best Mac OS style themes I have seen. Most I've tried are quite ugly. Having tried to make good-looking, usable themes myself, I can appreciate the effort and attention to detail that has gone into these.

SNOZDOP v2.0??? Should be at most 0.2beta - they're all totally unfinished. They seem to be exactly the same as the previous versions. Green blocks all over the place and missing the Highlight and Tab graphics. Obviously the author hasn't tested these themes on the phones they're "designed" for at all!! Don't release any more until they're finished...PLEASE! (Version 2.0)

SNOZDOP These are just terrible! There's loads of graphical elements missing (just green boxes). Tabs, highlights, popup backgrounds are all missing. Font colors are unset, or completely wrong, making them unusable on the phone in places, graphics are poorly created throughout. Have these even been tested on the phones? On the other hand, the feisar Mac themes already mentioned below are 1000 times better. They look professionally designed, actually do look like a Mac, are fully complete, and there's versions for many more phones. I'm glad I saw the feisar link. I'm using their K800 theme now and it is fantastic! http://mobile.feisar.com/themes.html (Version 1.1.2)
