SMORR An excellent app for teaching basic programming concepts to beginners. I used in my Grade 8 class room and found it much better for sequencing statements and explaining branching and loops than other environments such as microworlds. However, the app is plagued by minor bugs (unexpected quits, can't select objects after placing them, thinks flowcharts are incomplete when they are) Fortunately, a save and relaunch of the app takes care of the bugs. Also the app has several feature deficiencies. Could use: * the ability to TRULY copy and paste (often parts get left out, hard to paste and place where you want thing), * the ability to clean up the flow links * the ability to save individual subroutines and import them into other flowcharts * the ability to select multiple blocks and group and move them. * the ability to closely tie grounds with programs (ie when loadin a program, it loads a concordant ground) * the ability to set(program) new purposes for the robot and tie these with grounds or programs. The developer is open to helping people out. (Version 1.1) |
