SMOOTHMONIKER  This is exactly what I was looking for! Simple, fast, uncluttered, clean, and it just does exactly what I need.

One note - these seem to be scripts that make use of other applications, not stand-alone apps. No problem with that, but I was a little startled when I dropped an AAC file on the converter mp3 conversion script, and it popped iTunes open.
