SOHO Notes
Oct 10 2009

SLARKIN  I finally received a reply from someone named Adam who

gave the steps to take to restore my info. in SOHO Notes.

Followed his directions carefully (though the Application Support

folder was incorrect info.). Bottom line: It did not work.

Sent this information back to SOHO Notes non-Support several

days ago and have yet to get the courtesy of a reply.

DO NOT BUY SOFTWARE FROM CHRONOS UNLESS YOU BELIEVE

THAT YOU WILL NEVER NEED SUPPORT FROM THEM!

By the way, I have version 7.0.8. I would have to be loony toons

to update to 8.0.5.

SLARKIN  Has anyone used Carbonite? I don't see it listed anywhere on MacUpdate.

SJK  This relatively recent comparison article mentions Carbonite:

Online backup services

Read the comments for why Dropbox wasn't included.

SOHO Notes
Oct 1 2009
*....

SLARKIN  I have owned/used Chronos products from before Stickybrain. I sent the following request on on 9.24.09 to Chronos concerning problems I was having with SOHO Notes 7.0.8 & SOHO Organizer 7.0.7[Question Ref #4151-EYOH-2404]:

"I recently bought a new iMac with Snow Leopard and Time Capsule.

I am able to open SOHO Notes 7.0.8 to the point of seeing my alarms, but a dialog box keeps appearing that says:

"Backup Failed SOHO Notes failed to backup the database because the following error occurred..... You might want to check the backup preferences and make sure everything is set correctly. OK[button]"

I saved my Notes backup to my new hard drive, whereas previously they were saved to a LaCie external drive. I am unable to get into SOHO Notes to set my new backup preferences. I have even clicked on my last SOHO Notes backup from Chronos_robertrifkin 2009-09-02, but am still unable to open SOHO Notes.

It should not matter if my external hard drive is connected or not, since I MANUALLY saved my backups to another folder on my new iMac.

Also, the Apple dealer used Migration Assistant to transfer everything from my former iMac.

Every time I click on the OK[button] it opens one of my six alarms. The data is there as I was able to copy one of my To Do lists.

The dialog box will not go away no matter how many times I click OK.

SOHO Organizer opens but is not usable. iClipboard does not accept my registration information.

Bottom line: I am unable to use my applications."

GOT NO REPLY

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Sent 2nd request to Chronos on 9/28/09 as follows:

"I am still waiting for your help on the above situation. I have a lot of important information in SOHO notes that cannot be accessed."

STILL NO REPLY!!! It is now 10.1.09 & STILL NO RESPONSE FROM CHRONOS!!

I did receive an e-mail from Chronos for each of the above requests for help as follows:

"Thank you for adding a message to your question. We will respond to your message by email."

So, what's Chronos' problem??

Everyone should be wary of buying this software, because if you need

help from Chronos you may not receive it.

Also, when SOHO notes was working it took forever to backup. I could easily manually back up 3 other applications and their backups would be completed while Notes was still backing up.

Awaken
May 4 2009

SLARKIN  I sent this e-mail on 4/28/09 to support@embraceware.com concerning

a problem I am having with Awaken. No reply. Sent this again on 4/30/09.

Still no reply from support. So now I have both a problem with the software

and a lack of support from the developer!! ☹ ☹ ☹ ☹

I own Awaken version 4.0.2.0.

When I put the timer on to remind me to do something &

click on "use full screen" there is a problem.

As the alarm starts at full screen I move my mouse to

choose whatever I want to happen, before I know it the

whole screen is BLACK. So I hit every button to get

my screen back, including force quit, but nothing happens

& my screen is still black.

This happened on the earlier version as well. I had hoped

this problem would have been resolved in this version.

It is no fun losing the use of my computer in trying to

deal with this.

If this is a bug in Awaken 4.0.2.0. it needs to be fixed.

If there is something in preferences, please let me know

what to change.
