SJD  Nice little program.

One UI tweak reuest:

Could you have an option to make the pnecil and eraser cursors be brush size or a crosshair? Reason being, I'm left handed and seeing a right-hand pencil screws up my perception and I'm drawing on a weird angle because of it.

Thanks for your good work.

Warp Speed Calculator

SJD  This is a pretty good start.

What would make this great is if you could input start and end points (like Earth and Vulcan), and from there you could work out various travel options. How long at warp 6? or warp 8? Or how fast do we need to go to get there in 7 days?

Skins are nicely done.

SJD  A big improvement over the one that comes with OS X.

However, it would be very much appreciated to zoom in tighter on the region for places outside the U.S.

For cities like Calgary, Alberta it shows the entire North American continent; or Cairo, Egypt shows all of Africa.

SJD  This is a nice and clean little app. Grabs quickly.

A couple of suggestions:

1. Single frame step during pause for precise grabbing. Currently, you play or pause, and you jump ahead a few frames between unpausing and pausing again.

2. Customisable file name.

And a minor bug:

Hitting Command-G on an Intel MacBook pro does not Grabs & Save. However, the grab frame button on the Remote panel does work.

Thanks for your good work.

Tex-Edit Plus X

*****

SCOTT DUTTON  I've used this program since 1998, and it is hands down the best plain text editor for the Mac. All my HTML is written in it. One Applescript gave me syntax highlighting and tag checking. There is no speed cost.

I also write all my basic text documents in it. They import seamlessly into Quark XPress or InDesign, unlike Word files with buggy import filters. As a designer I do not need, and mostly despise, word processor style formatting of text documents. All that stuff needs to be stripped out for my work.

It's small, fast and doesn't add anything extra in its file headers or paragraph handling.

ANONYMOUS  If you consider Word a text editor, it's no wonder you prefer this.

***½.

SCOTT DUTTON  While it may or may not be a bit overpriced, it was worth it to me, and I gladly paid the fee.

I don't miss the mechanical issues of a typewriter, but the sounds are part of the writing process for me and it's great to hear the clack and ding once again. It's perfect on my iBook.

Thanks for the fun.

VueScan

****.

SCOTT DUTTON  It works very well with my Nikon LS-2000 through an Adaptec USBXchange Switcher. The Xchange pipes the SCSI to USB connection in Classic through to 10.3.2, which blows my mind. Talk about an information pipe. I didn't think it was possible, but VueScan saw it with no extra effort on my part.

It also runs my Agfa Snapscan 1236U, restoring many of the same controls that Fotolook had, and ScanWise was noticeably lacking.

The only improvement I could ask for would be curves editing in addition to the sliders. Some prefer sliders, I prefer curves.

VueScan

ALASTAIR BORTHWICK  To Scott Dutton: I tried to use my Adaptec USB Exchange on my old UMAX S6-E. I had trouble at first then after some messing around, Vuescan recognized the scanner and everything worked fine. However, when I tried to re-launch Vuescan and try it again, Vuescan didn't recognzie the scanner. I don't know what I did right earlier. Is there any trick or setting I should have? I feel like the Cold Fusion guys who couldn't replicate their success!
