SHOCKERSPAZ Hey Scott, I would be happy to pay a reasonable upgrade fee. No one should have to work for free and MailTags definitely deserves it. Thanks for all the hard work. (Version 2.3.1)

SHOCKERSPAZ Im sorry, today of all days, to release a new version and state "10.5 and later, Mail 3.0 or later" is a blatant lie! It does NOT work with 10.6 nor Mail 4.0! (Version 2.3)

MailTags | Aug 28 2009 |
SMORR Sorry -- MacUpdate automatically updated my listing and it escaped my notice that it said 10.5+, implying 10.6. In my defense, my release notes do state that it isn't 10.6 compatible but snow leopard compatibility will be coming next week. It needs a little more testing to make sure that it is bug free. SIGIL I think the MailTags that is fully Snow Leopard compatible and optimized is going to cost us... (Version 2.3.1)

MailTags | Oct 7 2009 |
SMORR MailTags 3.0 will be a paid upgrade. MailTags has gone through 3 years of free maintenance releases and a major system upgrade from Tiger to Leopard for free, so I need to start charging upgrades for the tremendous amount of development time required for keeping the plugin up to date. That said, I am arranging a scheme by which existing users will be able to update for free. I will provide more details when this is fleshed out more. (Version 2.3.1)

I purchased MailTags February 2008. I really never got to incorporate it (fully) into my workflow. I used the keyword feature, but not the other features. Obviously, this is on me. Snow Leopard's actual cost is much more than advertised. So far, I've paid several upgrade fees for apps that I've owned a year or less. (I digress.) That said, IMHO you make a great app. It's obvious you put a great deal of work into it. You deserve to be compensated. I'm not one of those people who thinks software should be free or I should have infinite updates for free.

SHOCKERSPAZ In theory it looks great, and you cant beat the price. However I have noticed a troubling quirk... my Macbook Pro (circa 2008) hangs every few minutes when this app is backing up! Whats more disturbing is the fact that, after changing the backup to run only when I manually initiate them, I still had hangs throughout the day. Upon further investigation I discovered that the service was initiating backups on its own even set to "manual" backup only!!! (Version 1.0.0.134)

SHOCKERSPAZ I have been using this product for a while and Im pretty impressed with the value. They have the best prices per GB I have seen and I have signed up a bunch of my customers. The software they provide has some powerful features that rival Backup Exec. If you sign up using this referral link I'll make a referral commission. TimeLog | Sep 16 2008 |
SHOCKERSPAZ I have tried all a whole bunch of the time tracking apps out there and I have to say that this is the ticket. I chose Timelog because of the iCal integration and when used with GrandTotal its a complete system. Together they have taken my billing period, historically taking me upwards of 2 hours, and transformed it into 3 minutes flat! Thanks Media Atelier! (Version 4.3.8)

JDUB800 This may be because the incremental backup snapshots have been reset during the OS update. Hopefully, it should return to quick backups next time you try it. Will find out myself shortly... (Version 10.5.5)

SHOCKERSPAZ The backup does not backup customized templates and field placement and therefor is completely useless! I spent hours customizing the software to my use and then backed it up. When I restored I found to my utter dismay that the only things it seemed to backup were the custom fields in the optional field list (not the templates) so had I relied on this software for anything I would have had to spend hours on recreating the templates again!!!!! completely useless. how in the world can you create a database software that has no way of backing data up?!! SIMON WOLF Apologies, you're right, you cannot restore a backup to another user. Have you reported it as a bug in their forums? However, it is possible to simply copy the bento.bentodb file in your user's Library -> Application Support -> Bento folder if you want to copy everything to another machine or user. SIMON WOLF That's a bit strange because I definitely have moved bentodb files around between user accounts and my home and work Mac. Maybe it is something to do with media files but that wouldn't explain why my simple test to move a backup file to a new user account failed. Anyway, posting it in their forums might be a good idea and they can be found at http://forums.filemaker.com/fmbnto/ (Version 1.0v2)

SJK Even Safari 2 already adds that "Where from" (kMDItemWhereFroms) Spotlight metadata without using DownloadComment, but I don't know if Safari 3 adds the download URL to Spotlight comments without DownloadComment (Safari 2 doesn't). (Version 1.2)

DownloadComment | Aug 7 2007 |
SJK If Safari 3 saves download URLs both as "Where from" (kMDItemWhereFroms) metadata *and* as Spotlight comments then can anyone think of a reason to still use DownloadComment? Since it's an Input Manager it'll probably not work with Leopard anyway. (Version 1.2)

KASPESLA Also, DownloadComment writes the URL in cases where Safari doesn't, like dragging images to the desktop. (Version 1.2)

Midnight Inbox | Jun 11 2007 |
SHOCKERSPAZ the app has promise, my gripe is there seem to be some bugs in the workflow that render this app completely useless. For instance, if you have it collect iCal events it does so from metadata and uses the time stamp on the metadata file for reference. The flaw there is that the date reflects any change to that file (like say Entourage parsing of it) and then every event there get "collected" into Inbox (you suddenly have hundreds of events from the last 3 years!). second there seems to be a loop in to-do processing and syncing. When you choose to have items in your Inbox sync with iCal those same items get "collected" as new to-do's. Then they sync with iCal and get "collected" again! You can see how very soon productivity is out the door and all your doing is trying to keep up with the hundreds of redundant events and to-do's Inbox has collected, anything you may actually have to do is buried the mess! Further more it seems that there is some issue with deleting collected items in Inbox and then trying to empty the apps trash. 4 out of 5 times that crashes the app. (Version 1.2)
