SHAWNYQ Very nice first release. The preference dialog seems a little cluttered. I think many of them could be merged into one, such as Aliases and Shortcuts. Speaking of the aliases, the foward slash within the text input is unneeded. A foward slash must accompany any command anyways so I would leave it in the backend of the code. I haven't had time to test all the functionality of the application, but if it does all of what it claims in the preferences, this has the potential to be competition for Colloquy. However, with Colloquy being free, the competition is stiff. (Version 1.0)

SHAWNYQ From a GUI standpoint, Colloquy is the cat's meow, but not everyone needs the GUI. Sometimes, I prefer just a simple fast terminal-like client. (Version 03.24.07)

SHAWNYQ Do you live in an RV? Ya know, so you can combine your vehicle with your house? All-in-one applications are usually a never good idea. They become bloated, memory hogs and a struggle for the developer to maintain. A much better idea is integrating multiple one-purpose applications into each other. Hence the iLife suite. Can you imagine if iLife was just one huge application? (Version 1.4.1)

Acquisition | Dec 23 2006 |
SHAWNYQ Watanabe doesn't give two shits about us, the consumers. I purchased Acquisition August 8th, 2005. I recently formatted and reinstalled Acquisition (on the same machine I first registered with) and now, like many others here, my registration cannot be verified. Acquisition Registration: Thanks for registering Acquisition, the most innovative P2P application on the Macintosh! Please ensure that you are running the latest version of Acquisition. Simply enter the following information in Acquisition's registration preference panel: email address: *******@gmail.com If you have not yet downloaded Acquisition, you can do so at the following URL: http://www.acquisitionx.com/download.php Oh, no! Thank you, Dave! For nothing. (Version 132.7)

VueScan | Dec 3 2006 |
SHAWNYQ I believe it was your responsibility to check if the scanner was supported before you bought it. Not the developer's. You purchased the software as-is. If anyone is to blame, it's yourself. (Version 8.3.82)

Thanks for the lecture. Unless you are a developer or friend, perhaps you will show a little compassion when you know all the facts. On 9/21/06 I purchased VueScan for use on a Canon 8400 scanner. I did check and VueScan supported the 8400. On 10/1/06 I purchased a Canon 8600 scanner as a replacement for the 8400. The 8600 was relatively new on the market—and it was not unusual for a developer to need some time to catch up. I waited and the developer released many update—none of which supported the 8600. It is now 12/6/06 and another VueScan release with no support for the 8600. On 11/26, I emailed the developer and—now read carefully Shawblower— he said he needed a document from Canon and when, IF EVER, he gets it, VueScan will support the Canon 8600. So, it's very possible that I will be out $49.95 FOREVER! Hence, my posting which you responded to.

VueScan | Dec 6 2006 |
MOOG MODULAR Bob, your comments are uncalled for. Everything this other person said is true. You bought an unsupported scanner. You also indicated that the developer was willing to provide support IF the manufacturer provided him information he requested. This is clearly not the fault of VueScan's author. It is either yours or the manufacturer's. You owe an apology to Vuescan's author. (Version 8.3.83)

VueScan | Dec 6 2006 |
SHAWNYQ Unless the developer of Vuescan gave a guarantee that he will support all versions of every manufactured scanner produced, your argument is null. (Version 8.3.83)

VueScan | Dec 6 2006 |
S P L A T ! unbeliable dude..!!! you dont need to blame to developer for a scanner that NOT appear in your list of supported scanners.... c'mon.... you wanna full support for every scanner in earth??? (Version 8.3.83)

SOMEONE You will have to wait for Camino 1.1 to have spell-checking integration. The patch is already in, but the developers deemed the change to be too drastic for version 1.0. (Version 1.0rc1)

Snak | Dec 6 2005 |
SHAWNYQ I've tried to stick by Snak, but it's shortcomings are becoming far too noticeable. I guess the only way to make me completely happy would be a total rewrite in Cocoa. OS X is so pretty and Snak just doesn't do it justice at all. My complaints aren't just with the looks, but the total functionality as well. I want drag and drop DCC sending and new inventive features. What happen to "think different"? I'd like Address Book functionality that would allow me to whois a person and show their information. So on and so forth. Sorry for my small rant. (Version 5.0.4)

BRAD_HUTCHINGS The load is a little (er, a lot) heavier than normal today. However, I just had a buddy on the other side of the world test and he downloaded in 2 minutes and 30 seconds. Molasses, on the other hand, comes in at 10 minutes and 25 seconds. We're still a ways ahead of it! Hutchings Software (Version 2.0)

SHAWNYQ This is how you respond to potential customers? Telling them to delete your application? I'm a consumer, you are a developer. There will be times that people like myself will say things that may offend you. You can't respond everytime by telling them to just delete your program. That's just bad business. SHAWNYQ Using the color picker to choose a web safe color works fine, but choosing a different color causes the program to crash (using 10.2.8). Every software is going to have bugs here and there, but going from free to shareware the developer has an obligation to fix such an obvious bug before asking for money. (Version 2.0fc51)

SVEN E OLSSON If you think that, then you think wrong! If you read the "Read me first file", the Release Notes or the Support Pages, you could read how to report an bug. In this case I have no chance to Fix the bug, because you do not write exactly what you do, with files was open and so on. Yesterday I spent over 5 hours to try find the crash you talking about. I also have an beta tester trying the same. You also wrote: Every software is going to have bugs here and there, but going from free to shareware the developer has an obligation to fix such an obvious bug before asking for money. If my software goes from free to commercial has NOTHING to do how I fix bugs, I do it in the same way... It also looks like you think I could fix bugs before I know they exists. please drop SEEdit in the Trash! Developer of SEEdit (Version 2.0fc51)

SVEN E OLSSON Bad business? Yes people like you that wrote things like you doing,is getting bad business, thanks for that! But thanks, there are a lot of users that understands that it is not easey to fix bugs before I know they exists. You also wrote: Every software is going to have bugs here and there, but going from free to shareware the developer has an obligation to fix such an obvious bug before asking for money. Are you meaning that Dreamveawer, Mac OS X, BBEdit and other commercial applications, not have to ask for money because there is an bug? You wrote: Hopefully your business ethics will change before your software goes shareware. My answer is absolute NOT. And this is including my way to fix bug. How would you I should change my policay? My users like that i fix bugs in hours, that I help them fix problems that not is my or SEEdits fault. So please do not talk about my policy on an public site, when you did not know!! Or when I have to ask for money or not. That is not your problems, that is mine. And why did you not post an bug-report, that I asking for in the Relese Notes, ReadMe and on my site? Do you think I read this page every day? If you have an "obvious" bug, do you not think others user would have this fixed as soon as possible? Perhaps that are you that have to change someting? If you are going this way, you newer get help if you need. Developer of SEEdit (Version 2.0fc6)
