SHADOW RAY  Does this version install the spyware Google Updater program that was in the alpha? It ran as a background process even after deleting Chrome, and could only be deleted through the terminal.

SHADOW RAY  this is a great browser and version 4 is easily as fast as any windows browser on running on intel. I remember a few years ago when Windows IE was about twice as fast as any mac browser. No more.

Not quite as customizable as firefox which I'm used to but the speed is winning me over. Nice work Apple.

SHADOW RAY  This is an ok screenwriting program, but this version has about 3 new features versus FD7, which was released five years ago. I have 7 and I was all ready to upgrade but after trying it decided not to. Obviously they're not putting much money into developing the program and expect screenwriters and productions to just deal with using archaic production tools.

I'm sure Final Draft 9 will have another 3-4 features that every other screenwriting program's had for years when it's released in 2014 or 2015 but I'd rather not wait.

Screenwriter 6 has a few bugs but is very sophisticated and miles ahead of this in pretty much every way. I'm buying that instead and will be encouraging my co-workers to do the same. It's not listed on this site for some reason but check it out, there's a free demo for it.

SHADOW RAY  OK, so you're telling me that when you right click in the search bar on the upper right hand corner of the window that a contextual menu appears (allowing you to cut, paste, copy, etc) as it does in every other OS X program? When I right click on the search bar in iTunes you know what happens? Nothing! Has every mac I've ever worked on had a corrupt version of iTunes or am I correct in saying that this extremely basic functionality not exist in this program?

SHADOW RAY  I read up on drive fragmentation in OS X and subsequently bought this about a year ago. I've used it on a few different systems and it's always worked smoothly and really sped up startup times for fragmented drives. If your drive has ever gotten to 90% or more full this will likely make a big difference in system speed. I think my system startup time after i first used it was cut by around 5-10 seconds. If you never fill your drives up and aren't working with media drives this will be less useful. I've always run Applejack and backed up before using it but it's never given me a problem or error.

Based on the reviews for Drive Genius, this is definitely the program you want if you're defragging your OS X drives. I was annoyed by the useless demo mode, and the lengthy documentation should be read before using it, but I was very happy upon purchasing fortunately, it's definitely a good buy. I recommend that any media company working on OS X buy this for their media storage drives as well.

SHADOW RAY  I was fed up with outdated FD 7 and disappointed that Screenwriter 6 was written in Realbasic so I decided to try this.

At first glance it looks great, however, this is basically useless for industry professionals in a production setting.

As per macworld's review, here's a list of what this can't do --track changes and drafts, lock pages and create production scripts-- all of which are a deal breaker for any script in production. And the final draft import function is extremely limited right now too, it can't even import scene #s.

You might be able to write a spec script here, and for that there are some innovations, but pros will still have to buy FD or Screenwriter to handle script revisions, both of which are only $30 more at Amazon. According to Mariner's forums some of these features will be added to version 2, but that will surely be a pricey paid upgrade. Buyer beware.
