SEIKA7  I love the concept, but it's not working for me with 10.4.11. I confirmed that it's in my System Preferences -> Accounts -> Login Items and I've restarted. I don't have an AIM account on this computer, but I want it to login to Bonjour as it did when I had iChat set to open at login.

SEIKA7  I don't type in IP addresses manually because they change from time time (DHCP). If you have static IP's for each computer, go for it; that would be a lot more reliable than Retrospect's method of finding clients.

SEIKA7  I run into this problem in older versions too. What usually works for me is turning off the client (hold Command and click the Off radio button in the client) and then turning it back on. Other things that have helped are rebooting the server, rebooting the client, and rebooting the network switch. It's a royal pain that the client network connections are so fragile.

SEIKA7  In your Quark folder, go into the folder "For System" and run the QuarkXPress Components installer. If that and a restart doesn't let Quark launch, you may need to update prebindings in the Terminal:

sudo update_prebinding -root / -force

then type your password when it asks and wait several minutes for it to finish. Don't touch the computer while it's working.

SEIKA7  The previous Security Update caused all Microsoft Office programs to stop launching (one bounce only in the dock) on both of our Intel iMacs.

The solution that worked for me was to update prebindings as follows:

In the Terminal, enter the following command:

sudo update_prebinding -root / -force

and enter your admin password when asked. The process will take a few minutes and then you should restart when you get your prompt back. See http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93984 for details.
