SCHMIEGEL  Well, it uses from 1,3 to 7 % even if it's off on a PowerBook 1,33/10.5.7. Hope this helps.

MYZTIKJENZ  QuicKeys shouldn't even be in your process list if it's not running. Perhaps you mean the editor window isn't shown?

QuicKeys has to watch a lot of things and monitor several different areas of the operating system to do its job. Even when it seems like QuicKeys should be completely idle, it's still listening for events and waiting for triggers or abbreviations to resolve. There is going to be a certain level of overhead that we simply cannot remove... 1-7% CPU usage, fluctuating, is well within tolerances. A constant load over 10% would probably indicate a problem or an extreme use of triggers that are time-based.

If you think you have a legitimate issue, I encourage you to contact support and start a dialog with them. We'd be happy to take a deeper look into your situation and see if there's something we can do to help.

SCHMIEGEL  The latest version (4.0b6) uses too much processor power, even if it's idle. Hope the developer can fix this.

MYZTIKJENZ  Please quantify "too much processor power". QuicKeys idles between 0.1% to about 2.0% on a single CPU on my machine. Depending on how complicated your triggers are, you may see an increase in CPU usage but nothing that would cause an average user to say it's eating up too much CPU.

If you're seeing numbers a lot higher than this, please contact Technical Support and we'll figure out the issue.

Ghost

SCHMIEGEL  When I first tried this app I thought it's a cool thing because you have a list of the files you hide. I wondered why there is no password to use it…On the second launch I knew why: the list is gone. You have to remember where your hidden files are, maybe write a list and put beside your Mac… There isn't even a warning about that ( I don't know if there was one on the fist launch). Haha what a fun.

GEORGEWS  I'm sorry to hear that Ghost did not do what you expected, but I'd like to point out that the purpose of Ghost is not to save and/or password protect a list of the files that you have hidden, it is simply to set the visibility of files when you need to. The list interface is just to make it easy to hide or unhide lots of files at once, or go through a group of files and set which ones you want hidden and which ones you don't. It's just a little utility, intended for providing the sorely lacking ability to change file visibility using a GUI.

StuffIt Deluxe 2010
Sep 19 2008
**...

SCHMIEGEL  This app is about 140 MBs only for the English Version. For Example "BetterZip" hasn't even 10 MBs including 6 languages. Still there is no acceptable file-browser included. If you use the Archive-Manager there's always a second window open that you don't need. There's no shortcut for browsing or extracting archives like in "BetterZip". This one is about 80$, BetterZip is about 20$.

SCHMIEGEL  This is by far the best mouse-driver for the Mac. I use it with MacAlly DotMouse and compared to the MacAlly Input Manager and USB-Overdrive this one allows fast AND accurate scrolling and cursor movement. The accelerated scrolling is very smooth.

LINENBANK  I downloaded also Flashplayer 9.xx on my iBook G4 and as a result flash videos stopped working. I fixed the problem by removing flash and downloading previous version 8 from Adobe home pages. It works nicely with Firefox, but Safari is very slow with flash.

Adobe pages have zip-file for older versions. You need to check the readme-file and choose mac compatible file.

SCHMIEGEL  Why can't you Guys put a hardware check in your apps? I'm looking for a caller id app a long time for my powerbook 17/1,33. The problem is that the internal modem doesn't support caller ids. This one gave me new hope but you can't trick the hardware.

SCHMIEGEL  Good idea but doesn't work on my Powerbook (10.4.9).

Sometimes all menu items show up, sometimes only a part of them. Sometimes it pastes the file instead of an alias and reverse and sometimes nothing happens. Sorry, it seems to need a lot of work.

GREGW  At least some of these comments seem like they stem from not understanding how the plugin works. If the user would contact me and describe what's happening and under what circumstances, I'd be happy to help. But I can't do anything with a single, vague report of unexpected behavior when it's working fine for me and everyone else who's ever commented on it.
