GARGIULO This application is for organizing and activating fonts. If you have all your fonts ON, it slows down your computer and isn't necessary. You should only have the fonts you need on, at any given time, especially when you have thousands of fonts. It also allows you to organize them into whatever cagetories you with, and view a sample of them so you know what they look like without having to open them and use them.

PHATCACTUS If Font Book were any good at all, then yeah, it's a lot like Font Book. But Font Book can't handle more than, like, twenty fonts at a time, and can't auto-activate them when they're needed. And yes, having all your fonts activated slows down your computer.

SAURYA_S I think it is not at all a good word processor. Even Mellel offers more feature than this. The biggest drawback is it doesn't have track changes like word. Even Apples' pages is more featured than Nisus. I am not sure if developers are trying to improve it. I guess all the fetures of word caan be implemented in a six months time, if developers are seroius about making it mac word processor. No outline mode, I am not sure about compatibility with endnote or other bib packages. | |

MHAR This program has really matured into a quality piece of software. Any comparison with Pages is unwarranted, as Pages is just awful.

MARC NOTHROP It is absolutely ridiculous to claim that ANY developer could basically clone Word in 6 months -- it really doesn't bear any more discussion, it's ludicrous. Nisus has been maturing over time, and continues to improve. Sure it's easy to complain about the state of third party applications compared to the massive resources of Microsoft Corporation, but short of convincing Nisus, Redlex and Mariner to merge as a single competitor, face it, by choosing a non-Microsoft product, you are deliberately accepting limitations. Having said that, there ARE reasons to choose, and support, these smaller guys, and being much more responsive to your requirements, is a big part of it.

SAURYA_S How do you use this program? Putting on the toolbar in windows, clicking it runs the program and quit. So for every refresh it does the run and quit cycle. i wish it could run in background and some hot key could be assigned to it - perhaps using Quicksilver. or perhaps some hotkey could be assigned to run and quit without anything appearing on the dock or so. | |

TEE_TEE It just a time saver for me. Whenever I want to write something in TeX (ex: my Homework) I have to find, on my computer, the right template, which has shortcuts to all sorts of weird symbols I need, first and then copy it to the right location(generally I need two finder windows). I organize them by subjects. So, it's two clicks to find + three seconds for my eyes searching the right template in the finder+ 2 seconds to do alt+drag 1 second to right click + two seconds to find it on the list and clicking it

TEE_TEE Here is another user of NuFile I heard from graphics designers. As you may know, when you create a new file in adobe photoshop or indesign, you got a huge multi-option windows. It's great to be able to customize it. Yet, the problem is 80% of the time we choose the same option. So, why not, instead of going through those dialog all the time and choosing the same 20 options, just right click on where you want to save it and select the template?

ANONYMOUS Serious problem with the software: In many programs you double click to select the word (triple click to select line) and press ctrl-click to get spell check option. Now one finger snap on, a double clicked word makes the line selected rather than bringing the contextual menu. | |

ANONYMOUS I don't think, there is anything novel about nisus. First of all it is pretty slow to start. Mariner write launcehs extremely fast. The tables made in Word appears pretty different. It is not good for reading as well. If one has to read big document, mellel does good job. When you quit a document and reopen it, it starts from the same position as u had closed. That is not tru with NSW. I hope developers release substantial improvement reeleases rather than half cooked , not perfected versions
