Type: CommentsDate: 7 Feb 2008 00:04Okay, Amberv, time to put up or shut up. Why don't you post all the instructions for doing what you allege this app does for its "ripoff" cost?

Type: TroubleshootingDate: 18 Jan 2008 00:34Try repairing permissions using Disk Utility. Also check if you're running as a non-admin user. It's possible this app may not be able to get started and create any necessary temp files with a non-admin account. Just guessing.

Type: ReviewDate: 18 Dec 2007 14:46Without this codec, AC3 audio isn't playable in apps that rely upon QT. (Of course, VLC doesn't have an issue but that's because VLC is self-contained and has all of the requisite components and codecs built-in.)
This codec plus Perian plus Flip4Mac's free component let virtually everything play in your QT apps.
Thank you!

Type: ReviewDate: 29 Aug 2007 21:45Opening a 400K+ ".lit" file took a few minutes of the spinning beachball but it -did- open the file and it looks great.
I suppose one could compare this to the dancing mule: The wonder is not how well it dances but that it dances at all.
I'd imagine a future release might tighten up the code a bit and make it faster (I'm running it on a 2.16GHz Intel iMac). Would also be nice to have a "convert" function to end up with RTF, PDF, or text files.
However, I'll be patient as the app (as is) is really a great advance for OSX users. Many thanks to the developer!

Type: CommentsDate: 8 Aug 2007 17:46I've been using version 0.2.7 and would only assume that the app keeps getting better.
Very helpful when your movie has A/V sync issues. I often transcode from AVI's to MP4's and, when such sync issues arise, QT Sync can fix the problem. I "save as" (maybe I'm paranoid about altering a source movie) and the resulting ".mov" (which started as a ".mp4") still may be dropped into iTunes, copied to my iPod, and even streamed to my tv.
I consider QT Sync to be an essential part of my toolkit.

Type: ReviewDate: 2 Feb 2007 10:41There's a reason this app won Best of Show at MacWorld: It just works.
The only "problem" I've encountered is when a Windoze app demands a floppy in "drive A" and won't let you specify another drive; Parallels lets you mount a floppy image but as "drive b". *sigh* Not Parallel's fault but I guess I should submit that in the wish-list for a future update, eh?
Back to Parallels: Occasionally, I need to run MS Access for a class I teach; Parallels lets it run perfectly. Sometimes I find a Windows utility that may work a little better than what I normally use on my Mac; it's nice to have that option. Printing works great, as well.
I was so excited about Parallels when I first read about it (last year) that I bought it before I even owned an Intel Mac. I figured they needed support from the Mac community. I haven't been disappointed.
BootCamp never interested me as I didn't want to leave OSX or partition my HD in order to run a few Windows apps.
Parallels rocks!

Type: CommentsDate: 21 Dec 2006 09:56This is being written with only about 15 minutes of experience with the app.
Seems to run very well on my Intel iMac (early 2006). Don't see any "RAW" support but I've not read the docs at all and I should RTFM before complaining, right?
I like the Photoshop key equivalents; If I'm going to learn something beyond iPhoto, it might as well have a similar-to-PS UI, right?
I ran the "yellow cursor" fix before running anything; can't say whether I had the problem or not before - never saw it in other X11 apps.
re: Copying between the app and OSX clipboard - very nice.
I'll try to learn more and post a review soon. At first blush, however, maybe I don't even need Photoshop? :D

Type: ReviewDate: 30 Jun 2006 17:01Reatively clean interface but could use a bit of tightening up, consistency-wise.
Burns quickly. Love the way it manages to combines all file systems within HFS+. In other words: If I burn a VIDEO_TS folder to an HFS+ DVD, I automatically get UDF compliance (and my DVD player plays the disc). Very slick.
Includes the really neat ability to assign an icon to the disc and even add pictures (from your HD or via Google image search!) which it converts to icons automatically. Again, very slick.
Cost? Not much more than pocket change; well worth it. Using it on my Intel iMac and, yes, it's UB!

Type: ReviewDate: 19 May 2006 12:06Great app! Even found a virus in some PC software I had downloaded. (It was a demonstration of an infection technique and I knew it was there; wanted to see if it would be found through OSX.)
Love the "drag & drop" ability; drop a file on the app and it checks the file.
Hey! Donate some cash and keep the development going!

Type: ReviewDate: 22 Mar 2006 10:11Another poster's explanation of the "nil" error (filename too long) was helpful. Now it converts the ".sub" file to a ".srt" file that filled with gibberish and all timecodes are zero.
Well! That was a waste of time. Too bad.
I have a feeling this may be related to the fact that there are two different "sub" formats; one actually does contain text while the other is a graphic. This app evidently uses the text type.
Bottom line: I'll have to withold any kind of rating as I may be asking this app to do something for which it was not designed. Would be helpful if there was some way of contacting the developer

Type: ReviewDate: 13 Mar 2006 00:28Needed a newsgroup reader that would maintain thread integrity. I use Entourage as my main eMail client but Entourage uses -EXACT- subject naming to determine threading; any alteration of the subject and it's a new thread. Well, that just doesn't work!
T-bird works great for this. I teach and desperately require consistent threading to track my students responses and T-bird delivers. I also keep my imap account for school "business" within T-bird and, again, it works as expected. HTML mail and postings are properly supported from Mac and PC posters. Can't ask for much more at this time.
While there may be more features I am not using, I'll give it a 5 because the features I -am- using are working great.
While I'm not ready to switch everything over from Entourage (due to its calendar, contacts, notes, and sync'ing ability with my Palm), T-bird is excellent for my requirements.

Type: Hint/TipDate: 28 Jul 2005 11:02Update to my hint about using RC for letterbox (16:9) movies:
1. Create the RC movie using the wide-screen option (NTSC or PAL depending on the system in use in your country).
2. Open that movie in QT Player Pro and export as DV-Stream with the 16:9 option selected in the Aspect popup menu. It is not necessary to alter the size of the movie as iMovie will recognize that the movie is now intended for 16:9 and will position it accordingly.

Type: Hint/TipDate: 6 Jul 2005 23:18Simply amazing app that uses a TextEdit-like interface to make the creation of rolling credits as easy as, well, creating a TextEdit document! Change fonts, sizes, styles, background color. Add pictures.
For the price (<$10) it's an extraordinary value. For ten times the price, it's still a value.
Two minor quibbles which I'm sure the developer will fix once he reads this:
1. If you save the movie using the name of an existing movie, it will delete the old movie but will only create a zero K file. You need to use a unique name when performing this function.
2. If you need a credits movie for a letterbox iMovie project (not HD), start with a 640x480 credits file. Then, in QT Player Pro, alter the size to 720x360, export as DV (16:9, not 4:3), and then drop -that- file into iMovie. Otherwise the credits will not fit in size, proportion or placement. (As I indicated above, I'm sure the developer will fix this quickly.)

Type: ReviewDate: 30 Mar 2005 14:08WBS (work breakdown structure) tool that provides nicely printed Gantt and Pert charts. Very simple interface, lots of logical "drag & drop" with optional keypresses to accomplish various alterations to the chart structure.
Fast and clean. "Print to pdf" in OSX results are perfect; some apps fudge this and provide strange printouts.
It's not Microsoft Project (thank goodness!).
The Help file is short but complete and accessible through the Help menu.
Another user suggested FastTrack Schedule instead of chartConstructor. $300 vs. $45. Hmmm; you choose.
Haven't used the app long enough to give a realistic comment about "stability" but I've mucked about with all the commands and intentionally tried to make illegal task dependencies (which the app politely advises it will not permit). Can't seem to crash it.
Only "complaint" is that long task descriptions are cut off when printed in Pert view and don't wrap in either Pert or Gantt view. (I've eMailed the developer about this.) Nevertheless, it has enough right with it to justify my $$.
