RPSX  i actually came here because i kept having problems randomly with a file in an archive that comes out at 0k, from time to time. however, i updated to the newest version, and low and behold - the archive that was just having problems extracts just fine. THE BEST!

RPSX  using 10.6.2 - cant get this to run. first problem - i got the todo.tgz, then i uncompressed it and got todo.tgz.cpgz - odd. uncompressed that and i got todo 2.tgz. then, i got todo.tgz 2.cpgz. so, tried stuffit expander, then finally got the app! but, the app doesnt run. :-( icon goes big, but then nothing loads.

RPSX  thank you so much! i cannot believe the built in archive utility does not decompress japanese filenames correctly. this does! its now set to decompress every format it supports. apple should just buy this themselves.

**...

RPSX  i had super high hopes for this, as i find the built in apple calibration to be pretty lacking... loved the process, everything going smooth, until i get to step 9, and at that point, the monitor jumps to some crazy settings and gets all purplish. i am a graphic design, so i think my eye is pretty good - not sure what went wrong. did it twice with the same results.

also, app seems pretty unstable on 10.5 - i clicked out of the app to the desktop then clicked back in - i could page through the steps, but not actually access the main content! including saving. everything stayed grayed out. hope this app gets updated, as if it did work, would be fantastic. maybe i will bet a hardware calibrator now.

RPSX  doesnt seem to download anything beyond the standard sites. if you are looking for something that captures the video no other grabber can... this isn't it either.

ANONYMOUS  This comment does not seem to make sense. Flash Video Downloader allows you to download streaming flash videos; that's the whole point.

RPSX  hello. that is just for the list text, but does not make the flashcard text bigger. there is no option for that - yet.

RPSX  just a quick review, as i am in the heat of cramming for the basic standard japanese test. given that, i thought i would try some other flashcard apps. i have to say, genius is the best. doesn't have some of the fancy features - but for me, the interval recall algorithm at work in genius is perfect. i learn more and learn faster. other apps i tried seemed to have too many options, approaches or features. genius is spot on. as i mentioned before, if ONLY, specifically for learning japanese kanji (or chinese characters i suppose), there was a way to increase the font size. that said, you cannot learn kanji with genius - its just too small to see all the strokes for most characters. please! i beg you! and, maybe an iphone version! :-)

GSUGGESTION  From the Genius Menu click Preferences, under Document Window select Extra Large list text. Does this help?

RPSX  btw, i found this app called fuppes - http://fuppes.ulrich-voelkel.de - if someone with programming skillz could make a graphic front end for this and proper installer then maybe we have a new alternative. but, for me, its way to complex to setup now...

RPSX  i agree - if the font size could be a choice, this would be perfect. i tried provoc recently - but, i think genius integrates "interval recall" in a better way - i am switching back already, as i seemed to retain faster with genius. but, for japanese, yes way too small... please!

RPSX  i signed up just to write this review. i gave it a 3, because 6 months ago i would give it a 5, and now i give it a 1. it worked pretty well when i first got it - then, with each update, performance has actually gotten worse. now, i actually see quite annoying and new playback bugs - not, just speed problems. though, more and more that happens as well, though sometimes restarting the medialink server helps. my system has not changed. buyer beware. at the rate they are going it will be unusable in a few months. keep a usb hard drive handy to copy your files too, as its the only way around frustration with restarting the software, and sometimes after doing so having it stream at a proper speed and sometimes not. really frustrating. if there is some programmer with the knowledge to create a dlna server for a mac, now is the time to give it your go because these guys have lost that knowledge or they are just getting sloppy.
