ROGERTJACKSON  Everybody? No, not everybody. Not even close. I just downloaded v.6.0.2 and just kept rolling along with it. I had a minor interface question, so I updated Mr. Lemke, who responded to me promptly, as he always does. I've been a satisfied, paying customer for years.

ROGERTJACKSON  While it's nice to see Netscape back, I wish it had come back with something innovative.

ROGERTJACKSON  Um, this is why they have demos. You can change the screen color and change the typeface to suit you. I know this because I actually downloaded and played around with it. It's a barebones application and frankly, I don't need it. But I was moved to take a closer look at it because the first two respondents apparently went no further than the screenshot.

Thoth
Aug 4 2006

ROGERTJACKSON  ... and that is a real shame. Thoth was (and still is) a great program, positioned perfectly between MT-NewsWatcher and Hogwasher. It's no surprise that the issue revolves around money; my guess is he'd need a considerable amount to port it to Intel Macs. The likely reality is that like Usenet itself, the need for Usenet readers is declining.

Grammarian Pro X
Apr 5 2006

ROGERTJACKSON  I had none of the problems with the product the previous poster experienced.

I followed the installation instructions; the developers admit that installing the product could be 'tricky" but I evaluating the application within five minutes.

I wouldn't stay way from Grammarian Pro unless you have similar problems. However, based on the high marks the app has gotten from so many users, you have no problems -- provided you follow instructions.

Apple iWeb

ROGERTJACKSON  Dana, thank you for the link to your manual. You are correct that Home Page inserts some strange proprietary code. Hiowever, there is an option in the Home Page preferences that can eliminate some of it. Once I've done what I need to do in Home Page, I finish up with Mozilla or BBEdit. For the home user like me who doesn't want to spend a zillion dollars on a Dreamweaver, bare-bones tools like Mozilla are still valuable. You know, it would not surprise me to learn that many folks wish iWeb was more like Home Page. Heck, I'm still waiting (and hoping against hope) for some company to revive it.

ROGERTJACKSON  Unfortunately, think the original viewer is correct. In my opinion, the canned Apple templates combined with skimpy editing tools all adds up to one thing: this app misses the mark for all but those who would spend no more than a half-hour doing anything. I have Claris Home Page 3.0, which I run on Classic. I'm not about to get it up yet. The code may be dated, but I can spruce that up with BBEdit or even Mozilla.

ROGERTJACKSON  I've had the same problems. The good thing is that Mr. Lemke is very customer-conscious. He relies on his users for feedback and is very receptive to suggestions. If you e-mail him, he'll look into it and if it needs fixing, he'll do it.

RJ  A nice piece of shareware. I'm especially impressed with it's ability to creat frame-based Web catalog. Not going to replace my GraphicConverter, though. GC does what this app does - and a lot of other things - for five buck more.

ANONYMOUS  I went back to v.6.5.2 because I found that quite a view pages didn't recognize QT 7. I trust that a lot of sites are already preparing for v.7, so I'm not really concerned. But I will be when I install Tiger.
