ROBERTOAVANZI  DxO used to be a useful piece of software. The tragedy began with the development of version 5.

Version 5 was supposed to support new camera bodies. I was going to buy a 40D, which would not be supported in 4.5 - but was to be supported in version 5. In the meantime, I got my camera, but of course I cannot process the images. Because DxO version 5 does not work. Sadly, I did buy 4.5 then with the promise of a free upgrade, which was supposed to be "real soon now".

First Windows users had to suffers through tens of non working versions, from last november to just recently.

Now, even though version 5 was promised for, like, 10 months ago, mac users are allowed to suffer, too. Wow. An alpha-level release. Not working, just a shell with a PREVIEW of functionality.

Simply put, it just does not process my images. I select them, import in the project, select the parameters, then hit "start process". After just a few seconds, DxO outputs images that are identical to the input. No change whatsoever. Discussion on the closed beta forum brought nothing, the developers are not really interested in developing. I think they are just waiting for the company to go belly up.

I started to admire Microsoft because of DxO. Stay away from their products. They do not even *attempt* to work. At least some microsoft products can be used in production environment.

ROBERTOAVANZI  Very nice application, and it will most definitely grow,m as the developers seem committed and release updates fairy often.

The interface is clean and very mac-like.

ROBERTOAVANZI  Joerg73, I really believe MU did not know how Lemkesoft would behave.

To be fair, it is true that Lemkesoft has a habit of charging an upgrade from "Bundle" subscription to "normal direct customer" - which is something most software houses do not do - which is a different matter from the price to upgrade to a new major version.

The bad thing here is that we got no information from Lemkesoft, and that they did not provide a special upgrade price for bundle customers. Instead, they say we have no rights. I still do not understand if the upgrade price for MUPromo customer is 34.95$ or 19.95$. If they ask the full price, then this is evil, if they are asking the upgrade price, they are just sneaky.

ROBERTOAVANZI  aetnaria, I cannot but agree with you. The differences between 5.9.5 and 6.0 are - for my uses - mainly incremental, and therefore I would probably have no use for the upgrade. But still, I would have preferred that they stated what they were going to do: fair game.

For the rest, I have to admit that Lemkesoft is quite generous with free upgrades and they have good support. But, it only makes this blunder even worse, it is such a "un-Lemkesoft" behaviour...

ROBERTOAVANZI  They have been, simply put, utterly dishonest. The Intaglio people said that explicitly, and we knew what we were buying. It was also clear that a program like Techtool Pro will need a major update with Leopard. But this, with Graphicconverter, was nowhere in sight.

Graphicconverter was just sold in the bundle to milk a few bucks more from a soon-to-be-old version. Very, very bad behaviour.
