RJBAILEY  I used to love KGraph but got frustrated with the slow pace of development. The one thing that kept me coming back was the user-defined curve fit feature I didn't find elsewhere among similarly priced software. If this is important to you, you may wish to invest some time in learning about gnuplot's curve fit options that are more powerful than KGraph's, although with a bit of a learning curve. But hey, it's free.

RJBAILEY  From Apple: Time Machine doesn't backup to AirPort disks: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=306833

Now if that isn't a fly in the ointment... Using my AirPort disk is the only reason I would want to use Time Machine in the first place!!

MAIL21  Yeah, that totall sucks...!! Even though that feature was highlighted in a Keynote by SJ and even though it was included in the previous developer releases they seem to have removed it within the last few days...!?! Hopefully it is just a bug they found and are working on so that the feature will return in 10.5.1 real soon...!?

PENNYHEAD1  Airport disk connections are no longer reliable since the last update. I've had problems with my Lacie disk randomly disconnecting. Probably not good for Time Machine's performance.

RJBAILEY  A1 superior software. The developer is responsive, too.

RJBAILEY  You can backup whatever you want. It's almost trivial. That you haven't figured out how to do it has nothing to do with the usefulness of this program.

RJBAILEY  How does this compare to http://xanana.ucsc.edu/xtal/terminal_finder_interactions.html ?

JBTULE  >cd to ... should be a lot faster because it's not using applescript but apple events directly instead. >cd to .. is only designed to be used from the finder toolbar (but that makes more sense because you'd have to navigate from the finder first anyway. And it seems cdf from what you've cited me uses gui scripting which is very sketchy thing to do and unnecessary because the terminal is directly scriptable to run commands.

RJBAILEY  I've got the same problem: works fine on my Intel MBP, but crashes randomly on my G5. It's maddening! Especially because--when it works--it works so wonderfully I'm totally dependent upon it!

RJBAILEY  These guys have hit a home run with this release, as far as I can tell. Best $40 for software I've ever spent, hands down.

RJBAILEY  I'm a longtime DW user and proponent. I probably would have upgraded right away at $15-$20. At $30-$40 I would have waited until I needed it. At $50 (plus $9 shipping) I'll try to forget about DW and reinstall from backups if I crash. Some of the new features added are available from other utilities (e.g. AppleJack).

Their choice to charge so much for an upgrade, my choice not to buy it. Gotta love that capitalism.

RJBAILEY  AppleJack crashed on my MacBook Pro during permissions repair. If you've had success on an Intel Mac please indicate.

RJBAILEY  This counters my previous positive review.

iEmulator appears to be completely derivative of the open-source Q (http://www.kberg.ch/q/). Use Q instead.

RJBAILEY  No problems here with the update, following my standard procedure:

1. Download and install the standalone combo updater, and

2. Repair permissions immediately afterward.

RJBAILEY  I'm glad to finally see a Mac OS X version of this program. I got to love it in the days of OS9, but feature-wise it's the same as it was years ago. I hope the developers keep this baby alive.
