RIDMAUR  Subtitles are re-encoded as far as I understand. So they become an intrinsic part of the video.

RIDMAUR  Fabulous tool. I had downloaded all seasons of Boston Legal, found subtitles for it and RoadMovie just easily converted all the AVI's to my AppleTV. Elgato's Turbo.264 is definitely a must with this tool but that is valid for any conversion to Apple's video format.
