ANONYMOUS Yes. iTunes is supposed to open (this is written in the Pod to Mac FAQs). One of the first instructions in Pod to Mac (done via the apple script interface) is to pause iTunes if it is playing music as this helps with the transfer in some cases. If you have trouble with Pod to Mac it may be a result of the new iPhone 3.0 firmware which uses entirely new databases. If you e-mail the databases on your iPod (I can let you know how to find this), then I would be happy to debug the software to make it work with your iPod or iPhone (this shouldn't take more than 24 hours). support@myPodApps.com (Version 3.0)

REVCO The problem is, with previous Roxio/Toast bundles anyway, all the extra software was Roxio Editions. Meaning Roxio will be responsible for support and getting updates out to you. That's not going to happen. If you need a bug fixed you'll have to spring for the retail version (at a slightly reduced rate). Happened to me with Toast 8 and 9 bundled software. Is that so for Toast 10 Pro? (Version 10)

REVCO While it's handy having zip compression built in OSX it doesn't compress files anywhere near what StuffIt is capable of. This makes a huge difference when you're uploading or emailing medium to large files. I agree that version updates don't offer much in the way of new features. If you check DVDRemaster's help documentation, "Developers" is misspelled as "Developpers". That's what Revco was pointing out. LaCie Update Tool | May 12 2008 |
STAY AWAY FROM THIS UPDATE. It just destroyed my Rugged 250GB drive. Uploading firmware gets to 80% then message changes to Uploading configuration. That gets to 83% then its status briefly changes to Verifying.. Erasing... Uploading firmware. It does that twice and then I get the message "Sorry, failed to update the firmware!" Drive won't mount, nothing. Launch the LaCie Update Tool again and now the drive's version is vF.FF. It was v1.10. I guess the F.FF is an abbreviate F*CKED. Love your work LACIE! (Version 2.0)

LUPINGLADE We're still working on fixing the UI scaling. Regarding the port allocation error, likely the port is being used by some process or you wouldn't be seeing this error. Check ports 1900 and 9386. Regarding registration, it is automatically mailed out instantly. If you still haven't received it, it may be in your junk mail folder or perhaps was somehow undelivered. You can contact us: support (at) nullriver.com and we'll get that serial number out to you. Thanks for your feedback. (Version 3.23)

PJDODD I agree with most of what has been said about Quark 7 (7.0 to 7.31), especially regarding speed and reliability. I use it sparingly on a dual G5 when work comes in from outside sources and it's painful. We only upgraded to Quark 7 because other silly people had gone that route without looking ahead and/or waiting for a stable release. I'm also not a fan of InDesign CS3. It takes as long to load as Quark 7.31 and has it's own speed issues (loading, saving, flattening artwork). There is also a disturbing problem with Pantone colours reproducing accurately from InDesign, especially using RIPs. I liked the comment that InDesign "feels Pagemaker" and it does. There is a lot to champion for Quark 6.5.2, especially speed and stability. It launches in a few seconds and loads and saves files very quickly. I can still crash it when activating fonts but this is also true of every version of Quark and InDesign - the technology changes but the problems with fonts stay the same. (Version 7.31)

TrueDisc | Mar 9 2007 |
REVCO Hi Erich. To quote your previous comment: "The one file limitation is more of a nuisance than an actual limitation. " To dismiss this limitation as a nuisance really downplays its severity. Firstly, in the same registration email I received was the other known limitation: "Files larger than 1.85 GB are not supported." Secondly, you've stated that maximum damage recovery is for files 292MB or less for DVD-R. So, based on the above figures I can burn a 1.85GB image onto a 4.4GB DVD but I won't expect to achieve maximum recoverability because this image is over 292MB. Do you see what I'm getting at? Also, given I can only use 1.85GB of a 4.4GB DVD why don't I just burn two lots of the same files on the same DVD using Toast? If one file becomes damaged I can always use the other copy. Speaking from personal experience, I've been stung once or twice by archiving compressed and/or disk images. If the archive becomes corrupted you lose everything. I wouldn't recommend anyone combining all their files in one container for archiving. At this point in TrueDisc's development it seems to offer limited usefulness and protection. So while it's really pretty to look at I can't actually use TrueDisc. What's your timeline for removing the two known limitations? In another post here I asked the question what would the storage capacity be for a DVD-DL? The question should read "Once you remove the 1.85GB limitation what would the storage capacity be for a DVD-DL?". FWIW I'm expecting good things from TrueDisc. Don't let me down :)

TRUEDISC DEVELOPER My apologies for making light of the current limitations of TrueDisc. The 1.875GB limitation will be removed in TrueDisc 1.1, due next week, and multiple files will appear in TrueDisc 1.2, due the following week (assuming no hiccups with testing). Once the 1.875GB limitation is removed, you'll be able to burn files up to the maximum file size supported by the format itself (less 7% space for redundancy). Best, Erich (Version 1.0)

REVCO I registered yesterday. My registration email came with the following tidbit: "Known Issues: Only one file can be burned per disc. You calling this v1.0 software is, I think, a bit premature. It feels more like a beta or at best a preview. I look forward to the missing capabilities being added soon. Real soon! (Version 1.0)
