RCARLTON  Joel,

Thanks for the fast response!

You're right - those are both ways of handling it. And I did use them yesterday.

For example - I have both Adobe CS3 and CS4 installed. I had to set the CS3s to skip as they kept trying to update to CS4 trials vs the inline CS3s. The CS4s, though - updated fine.

I may be asking for features that aren't practical. I was just trying to relay my experiences as a new customer while they are fresh in my mind.

As I said before - a really good app that does what it says it will do - and on the support side - well, let's just say that after submitting lots of bugs Adobe's way, I've never, ever heard word one.

Thanks again,

Rick

RCARLTON  This kind of app is by nature a byzantine undertaking to write.

Not all publishers deliver their apps the same way, and an app like this has to be something like the "VLC of installers" in terms of knowing as many apps and methods as possible.

That being said, after a day's worth of rough start - I'm finally up to date.

I think this is a good app. It's a bit young - but well worth the price if like me - you get busy with work and can't keep up with the latest incremental updates.

A very, very welcome feature would be some method of prioritizing the update downloads instead of the all-at-once model.

I realize that most of the time this only affects new installs, but some sort of preference that allows "Update apps in groups of x" or "If an app can't be updated mark to skip and move on" would be most welcome. My net connection got so saturated a couple of times that every update started failing one by one.

Or - when the list of updates is presented, a method to select/deselect individual or multiple updates [Update selected apps] and and options to Update/Cancel/Resume via Contextual Menu and/or buttons would be nice too.

In my case, I had something like 50 updates needed and it overwhelmed the app. Oftentimes, it was impossible to tell until I'd let the app do its thing. A number of apps wouldn't update until I deleted the original app manually, and it took at least 10 times running MacUpate before I got everything working.

And - some apps - especially games - installed Trials on top of purchased games - that somehow reverted the games back to trials.

BUT - that being said - it's off to a great start, and I'm looking forward to it getting better and better.

JOEL MUELLER  Thanks for your input. I have a few suggestions or semi-solutions for a couple things you were looking for. Instead of downloading and installing everything, you can simply double-click individual listings that you want to update. That's pretty similar to selecting an update, one at a time, and asking it to then download all of the selected updates. It just starts the process for each individual update right away instead of waiting for you to finish your group of selections.

As if something doesn't update, you can skip it and move by right clicking (or use the action menu below) and tell the listing to,"Set version to current" or "Don't check for updates." By setting the version to current, it'll ignore the update until the next time a new release happens. By selecting not to check for updates, it will ignore updates indefinitely until you manually re-active it.
