QMEDPAUL  Are you SURE it worked? I did the same thing and the updater did allow 'installation' but the updater didn't update anything. It said the update would take 8k of disk space. That's eight kilobytes. After it ran, no Office app was changed at all.

*....

QMEDPAUL  As usual, this updater reports "A version of the software required to install this update was not found on this volume."

I updated to 12.1.3 when it came out recently. I haven't moved anything. All apps' info boxes report version 12.1.3.

So, what is their malfunction? They can't even write an UPDATER properly. Is Microsoft employing children to write their Macintosh software now?

This is what took 5 YEARS to develop?

STATMAN  As states below, you need to edit the resource file (right click (ctrl click) on the update package....go to show package contents...navigate to (contents>resources>package_updatable....right click (ctrl click) and open with text edit...modify as suggested below (remove the 2 lines in the code) over-write the file (save). Then the updater will work.

SPIKELIGHTFOOT  Good grief. I did this and it worked.

Once again, I'm punished for using MS products.

Retrospect Client
Oct 30 2008

QMEDPAUL  Here's what always works for me, no server restart required:

In Retrospect, remove the client from the Client list. It'll ask if you're sure you want to forget that client. Click OK.

Click Network. Most likely it will not list the new client, so you have to add it manually. Simply click 'Add by address' and type in the client's IP address. Voila.

The only pain is you have to reset the Volumes.

QMEDPAUL  bluestar -

your previous comment about 'funky graphics' got me thinking...have you updated the version of Quicktime on that machine? If not, Office might not display its internal graphics properly. I know this happened to me with 10.4.11...once I updated to QT 7.5, everything was fine.
