Q00P  After struggling for years with ReadIris Pro, because of limitations of software, extremely bad support and completely flawed installation procedure, we finally decided to try ABBY.

What a relief! The difference can't be explained. This software actually works! And converting previously scanned PDFs to searchable PDFs is a breeze.

If you are searching for OCR software we can only recommend you to buy it.

Q00P  Sorry, but that information is incorrect!

I use this product with our Fujitsu ScanSnap without problem.

MRGLSMRC  abby just updated their software for scansnap yesterday wiseguy and they emailed me. i assume you either work for them or are facetious.

perhaps you weren't using the current operating system so you are unaware of the problem. your ignorance of an on-going situation does not make incorrect because the situation does not affect you or are uninformed.

i am including the url for the abby scansnap update, which all scansnap users have been waiting almost 4 months to use....

Hello ScanSnap Snow Leopard subscriber,

The FineReader for ScanSnap compatibility update for Snow Leopard with ScanSnap S1500M and S510M is now available. For those that have already updated ScanSnap Manager for Snow Leopard, proceed directly to Step 7; otherwise, follow all the instructions on how to update ScanSnap Manager and FineReader for ScanSnap in the URL below:

Q00P  :-)

No, I don't have toddlers. However, I do know how destructive they are....and they do come with a lot of restrictions.

Pros:

- Scratch resistant

- Self repairing

Cons:

- Increase in size over time.

- Can't be paused.

- Not included in IMBD, so you can check their rating before you buy them.

- You can't rip them to your HDD and throw away the original.

Q00P  Funny the way you write "Im a parent of little kids" and "make a rip of the movie 'Resident Evil' without drama"

Readiris Pro

*....

Q00P  To start with, buying this software gets you an email stating:

Your software key is XXXX

Please note that this software key will not work if you reinstall your software, you can ask a new software key when needed through our customer service:

- for North America: supportusa@irislink.com

- for other countries: support@irislink.com

Eh? What? We need to ask for a new key on reinstall? Okay, fine!

Stupid, but let's install the software since we paid for it...

I am sorry but, having used this software in a business setting for 7 months, we would like to let you know that this is NOT WORTH PAYING FOR. We have struggled all the time, and finally we saw the light. The computer crashed and we needed to reinstall OS X from scratch, plus all applications. Starting Readiris it asks for the software key. Hm, bugger! Mailing support@irislink.com for a key. 24 hours later, STILL NO KEY!

As a business we are stranded until we get another key. THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE!

MUSSELROCK  To Q00P.

Don't hold your breath waiting for email. I have been through this issue several times with the developers and they don't reply to email.

Calling them on the phone is the only way to get a response and that's iffy, usually taking three or more tries.

Don't bother with this developer's product. It will cost you too much for support.
