AppZapper
Jan 9 2008
*....

PUMPKINWHITE  I just received appzapper as part of a bundle. The first thing i did is compare it with the 'Delete App' functionality of forklift. In each and every application i tried, forklift caught more files on my system than appzapper. Sometimes appzapper would miss out a file in 'receipts' folder or sometimes in 'caches' folder and sometimes in both. Considering appzapper is a program dedicated to this functionality, I am pretty surprised by this. If all application deleters out there were missing the same files then I wouldn't have been so harsh on appzapper. But the fact that another application catches extra files every time is inexcusable.

PUMPKINWHITE  Previous owners of 1Passwd - How often have you had to forcibly buy an update of the software due to a browser update? If i buy it today, will I have to pay again someday even though i am happy with the features of the then current version.

I can understand there might be new features in a software that might drive people to buy an update. But does a situation arise regularly with 1Passwd where you don't have a choice? e.g. artificial constructs in the software that will preclude support of (hypothetically) Safari 3.5 even though it logically can, forcing the user to upgrade.

Tom Dibble has clarified the need to upgrade when installing another browser. But i'm still confused about updating the same browser. If there is no way to import passwords everytime there is a new version of Safari isn't it better to simply use Safari's inbuilt password manager; at least then you know your saved passwords will get transferred. Just clarifying.

RapidWeaver
Oct 8 2007

PUMPKINWHITE  @Pablo2K - Thanks for the comparison link, but honestly i don't think it applies. The comparison uses version 3.2.1 of rapidweaver. From what I have heard versions 3.5 and 3.6 were major revisions of the software, and Rapidweaver has left iWeb way behind. As per the comparison, iWeb comes out on top. Interesting read but not relevant now.

For reference here is the link being referred to -

PUMPKINWHITE  Rapidweaver is a great software. Much better than iweb. I would recommend buying plugins from yourhead.com to really make this software shine.

UniSudoku

PUMPKINWHITE  UniSudoku earned 4 and 1/2 mice on macworld. From the review it seems to be the best sudoku software available. Here is the link to the review -

Remote Buddy
Sep 4 2007

PUMPKINWHITE  I own both Sofa Control and Remote Buddy. Personally I think Sofa Control is much better. Sofa Control has this 'global menu' that comes up on a longer menu button press. It is just a common place for universally used commands, and is very convenient. Also adding your own scripts in Sofa Control is very easy. Remote Buddy offers all the same functions. Functionality wise its not lacking. It's just not as intuitive at times. But a lot of people prefer Remote Buddy. Remote Buddy has bluetooth remote pairing extra i think, but i don't need that, and so I stick with Sofa Control. I guess it boils down to personal preference. I would advice everyone to use both and see what works for them.
