PONY  I'm having problems getting Swift Publisher to recognize it is registered. I had been using it just fine until the update came along. I bought the update and after several failed update attempts (I ended up having to delete /Library/Application Support/BeLight Software/ at the developers request to get it to install) I finally got the update to install.

However, now when I run Swift Publisher it tells me the application is not licensed, but clicking the license button just 'BEEPS' and does nothing. All other components are licensed, but Swift Publisher refuses to recognize it is licensed, and further refuses to allow me to re-enter the license key. The developer suggested I re-install (which I did) but so far has been unable to resolve the problem.

Further emails to the developer have gone unanswered.

I own the box retail version, and just paid for the latest upgrade to it which broke the application. I'm now out of pocket the cost of the upgrade and unable to print any of my previous Publisher files!!!!

If you are considering buying the upgrade then ensure you have a full backup to revert to should you experience the same problem. I'm not sure what to do next as the developer appears to have given up helping me get this to work :(

PONY  Call me skeptical, but if they are offering a subscription you can guarantee version 4 will not ship within 12 months.

Version 2 of this product was discounted here a little while back, and VMWare ensured anyone who bought the discounted version would not be eligible for a free upgrade - they set the cut off date for free upgrades to just after the promotion finished here. Of course this fact wasn't noted in the promotion, and was announced after the promotion had finished and many had bought a version that was 'obsolete' just a few days later.

I'd skip the subscription all together.

PONY  We would like to thank all the users who purchased this software through the MacUpdate promotion.

We listened to your requests for new features, the largest request was for International shipping. Whilst adding this is going to take a lot of work (USPS ship to other 500 countries! Each country has its own rules and regulations regarding mail.), we are working to add this feature in our next major release (version 3).

As promised, version 3 will be a free upgrade for all registered users of versions 1 or version 2.

I can't give a timeline, but hope to have this version ready for release within 3 months.

Once again, thank you to all those who purchased this software and provided the motivation to add even more features.

PONY  I used this for the first time today and like it a lot. I have an old Brother MFC that does little more than answer my fax line and provide the occasional scan. The brother software is awful.

Whilst this software makes a great replacement, its $115 price tag is just insane. I'll stick with the clunky interface provided by Brother.

Its obviously not aimed at the home market, unless you like throwing $115 to replace software you got for free with your scanner.

I bought the Brother mainly as a fax machine and think its price tag was around the price of this app.....

Cannot get this to create images that are not corrupt.

PONY  Anybody else having problems with the latest version scrambling images?

I have a large project with around 120 images. It worked fine in the past. Yesterday I added 6 more images and uploaded the new banner - around 10 images were corrupt. I uploaded again - this time different images were corrupt. I saved to desktop - different images were corrupt. I changed compression settings - same problem.

I opened my original images - all OK.

Anybody else?

PONY  So, why would anyone want to use this I ask you say - well today it saved my skin!

A recent UPS failure saw a few of my servers shut down hard and then reboot. On trying to remote desktop (Apple Remote Desktop) in to one of them we noticed the display resolution was all messed up and the display was just un-viewable. So rather than have to take the server down and reboot with a display attached we used this utility.

We simply copied the utility to the root level and ssh-ed to the server and executed the command. We were immediately able to used Apple Remote Desktop once more - no downtime, no mess, no fuss.

Keep a copy on your administration machine - better still install it on all your servers.
