EASER It's been awhile since this was posted, so I'll add my own comments based on Leopard's Finder. The main problems I have with it are (1) you have to constantly adjust column view widths every single time you open a new window, and (2) you are way too limited in being able to adjust font and icon sizes. This is especially true in the new sidebar. Jeez, I'm pushing age 50, and my eyes aren't what they used to be. That stuff is teeny tiny and a major strain to see. I personally prefer PathFinder among all of the browser alternatives. It addresses both of the concerns I raised above. It does use a reasonable number of resources and may seem a bit slower on older systems. I have a MacBook pro with full RAM, so that hasn't been an issue for me. Once I played with it for awhile, I found that it had so many useful features, I could never go back to the original Finder. (Having tabbed windows in PF is also a much nicer alternative to having too many open Finder windows.) As for XFolders itself, it seems a nice program. But if you want a really good dual-pane program, look into either ForkLift or DiskOrder. (I also have a license for that program. In my experience, you'll get far better customer support, as well as product development, from ForkLift.) (Version 1.5.1) |
