PLEVINE  MapDesign actually does more than just places a rectangle over parts of an image.

You can create two kinds of image maps. A regular image map and an effects based image map.

A regular image map lets you use rectangles, circles and polygons.

An effects based image map lets you add mouse over and mouse down effects to certain parts of an image without using FLASH or other heavy media.

PLEVINE  All of your changes ARE saved locally automatically AND in iWeb SEO Tools internal database.

Your work is definitely not lost. That's the whole point of iWeb SEO Tool, it automatically saves all of your changes in its internal database so they next time you Publish to a folder in iWeb, and all your files are overwritten, you just have to press Apply All. All the saved data stored in iWeb SEO Tool's internal database is used to instantly update your site.

The folder you open in iWeb SEO Tool will also contain all of your changes. Changes are made directly to your original folder.

PLEVINE  I didn't deny it, I just could not reproduce it at first because it does not happen all the time. That's why I was asking if anyone else saw this problem.

It actually was due to an unrelated bug in version 1.2 that we fixed. You didn't always get false reports, only if you had never optimized the website before.

PLEVINE  I just wanted to correct something in my previous post, the optimization done to lotto_chances.html was not as significant as I previously posted. It was comparable to what HTML Optimizer compresses.

I was using some settings of a yet to be released version. I just wanted to point this out to avoid confusion.

However my point about the website being biased still stands.

We are working on a comparison of our own.

Also to address the Reports bug issue we have fixed this for the next release. It adds half the optimized size to the Final report ON THE FIRST OPTIMIZATION OF A WEBSITE only. We will release a bug fixed version very soon. I apologize for the confusion.

PLEVINE  Hi Roddy,

Please keep in mind, this is an extremely biased test for the following reasons;

1) The web site is a fictional site created by the developer of a competing product. They have created a test website that is best suited for the strengths of their software. I just did a quick test by enabling the SAME options that HTML Optimizer enables by default in WebCrusher and it knocked the socks off some of its optimizations. For example lotto_chances.html saved 58.43%, almost 3 TIMES what THEIR software did for THEIR OWN test site. And I didn't even enabled all of WebCrusher's optimizations!

When I changed the settings for the red_cyclamens.jpg I was able to save 81.42%.

2) If you look at our optimization options in the Preferences you will see that we have many more optimization techniques then HTML Optimizer. We have some not found even on Optimizers made for Windows. And WebCrusher has ONLY been around for 3 months, whereas HTML Optimizer has been around for 10+ years according their website. Just wait to see what we have coming up!

3) Their PNG optimization, which takes up the balk of their savings of THEIR test site DOES NOT WORK WITH MASKED PNG FILES. This is extremely important here, PNG FILES ARE MOST USEFUL WHEN USING A MASK. JPEGS are almost always smaller than PNG files so if your image does not need a MASK and you are trying to reduce file size, a JPEG is what you need. This pretty much makes their PNG optimizers useless in the real world, except of course for their test sites.

I am not hear to bash a competitor, just to let current and future users know how powerful WebCrusher is and to provide them with a fair comparison. Do not be afraid to play with the Preferences, there are plenty of options.

So I urge you to try both products, using the Preferences BEST SUITED for your website and see which one comes out better. I am looking into the Reports bug that they claim to have found on their site. However I am getting the right numbers here. So I am not sure if this is a problem with specific set ups, but I assure we will get this fixed as soon as possible. We do not intend to mislead people, especially with something that can so easily be recognized by comparing the Report to the main window.

PLEVINE  It doesn't matter how long you set them, if you are checking a lot of keywords and a lot of websites this will inevitably happen. We are working on more sophisticated ways of checking your rankings BUT this will happen at a certain point with any automated Rank Checker.

And please see my response to your other feedback. WE DO support the Yahoo APIs. They are ALWAYS used, so you don't have to worry about it. Google discontinued their APIs for SEARCH a long time ago so we can not support them. You can not get an API key for them anymore.

Please remember, we are working on ways to improve this, but the problem is not unique to SERank and can in no way effect your websites Google rankings, or rankings on other search engines.

PLEVINE  SERank DOES support using APIs for Yahoo. That is how it checks your Yahoo rankings.

There are no APIs to check Google's ranking. They were discontinued a long time ago.

I would be happy to answer your questions. However your assumptions here are misleading for users who have not yet used the software.

PLEVINE  When doing searches by Keywords, Google has no idea what URL you are searching for. If it were the case that you could sabotage your rankings by using a Rank Tracking program, than anyonecould sabatoge their competitors rankings very easy.

You will not hurt your rankings in any way by using SERank.

Furthermore, the emulation can be adjusted in the Preferences. If you are checking a lot of keywords and a lot of urls, adjust the wait time in-between checks in the Preferences. Our algorithms are no less effective than in any other competing applications.

PLEVINE  Filters are saved within your sitemap Project file. So, next time you wish to scan your web site go to File->Open and select your sitemap project file from Documents/Google SItemap Automator Maps/ and select your project file. Your filters will still be there ready for your next scan.

As for editing existing filters without having to re-scan, this is a feature we would like to add to a future release soon.
