Thanks for the reminder. I used PopChar somewhere around system 7, 8 or 9. Too long ago to remember and also I think at one point it was free. I was thinking about purchasing it but after your hint, I don't have to. Thank You. And there must be quite a few suckers because there certainly are a number of shareware programs that do something that's already built in.

I suppose I should review this now. Obviously it is the best sound enhancement available for Macs available. It will dramatically improve one's sound overall.

One note of caution or really more a hint. Because audio sources vary in quality dramatically. One can end up trying to endless adjust things almost on a file by file basis. Try and find one or two that work and leave it be.

All issues seem to have been fixed. Now I'm a happy guy.

As far as the hung processes. It seems to be a quirk of Activity Monitor. If checked with something like Peek-A-Boo, they don't show as hung. And being nothing is affected,i.e., everything runs, and Hear isn't the only program where those processes show as hung. Are plenty of reports of coreaudiod showing as hung since at least Tiger for example.

just my thoughts

I can't comment on SRS's support or limits on how many times one can install it. What I can say is this is the best product to improve sound I've run across. I just wish it worked system wide instead of just with iTunes. I personally am extremely happy with it.

Hi, I want to try this out however I can't seem to configure my Verizon FIOS router to work with this. I need to know what I have to change:port forwarding, DMZ etc.

thanks

Me again. I just noticed when I open the streams manager and click on the preset tabs, although iTunes catagorys are listed, none of the stations show up. Umder the iTunes tab it does list stations I put in a Radio Favorites folder in iTunes.

I also recently purchased Hear 1.0.1 which is a global sound enhancing software, which seems to intercept everything except FStream. Any thoughts on why that may be?

Wonderful player. Using ot most of the time now. I do have a question: What exactly is anti-aliasing output used for?

I agree, would be nice if it would open bookmarks for whatever browser happens to be open. Also, would be nice if one could change the color. Blue isn't my favorite and clashes with the rest of my theme.

I assume if you are logged in as the Root user you probably can. I don't normally log in as Root. Might be why.

thanks. I actually called Apple and they told me the same thing. You can drag a plugin or whatever to the trash but if you drag it to the deskop or somewhere else it will just make a copy. After reading the forums about the useragent problem I'm not sure what to think. Mine does turn red after installing Hear but it doesn't seem to be affecting anything. Hear seems to run fine as does my system. I do think $50 is a tad steep to make the sound "different" as opposed to better. Guess it's all relative.

I get the same results. However, maybe you can help me with something. When I dragged the Hear plugin to the desktop it just made a copy there. I've noticed this behavior with other system files. Have any idea why? thanks

I've been a Mac user since 1985. One thing I have learned. Are too many whiny Mac users, Especially when it comes to FREE software.

I wish I had known about this before I downloaded all sorts of folder icons when all I wanted was to give all the folders a graphite look. This does exactly what I wanted. Great job.

I meant to ask, is there any way you could implement a folder structure for the actual radio list that drops down? once one puts in enough favorites it gets a bit awkward.

in demo mode, once the 3 hrs times out and the dialog pops up to remind you your time has expired, and you click the restart demo mode. the configuration program locks up, spinning beach ball etc

the help is probably fine. I just never looked at it. and thank you for baring with me. been using Macs since 85 and just got in the bad habit of thinking I could figure out things on my own.

to all that tried to help. thank you. my apologies to all also. this will teach me not to read help files. this works fine and well on my machine afterall. if you use it right :o) I was just dbl clicking on the preset stations which actually would make then start playing. silly me. records also.

ok I'm embarassed.

ok, my last attempt. when I click on the volume the slider pops up and slides up and down but the volume doesn't change. the eq window pops up and when enabled the presets change the sliders but the eq doesnt affect the stream. the status window always displays disconnected even though its playing. the record creates a folder, a file to record. but nothing is recorded. I don't know what mechanism is used to interceot the stream by the volume, eq, record etc. but if I could find out I may be able to replace whatever isnt working on my machine. apparently its neither an iTunes 7.6 nor a quicktime 7.4 issue seeing a couple others here say it works with those installed. is one person who apparently also has a status that never changes in the recent comments. thanks

you mentioned not getting notifications might be my problem. if its not too lengthy, what are you calling in the OS to pass them? I know there must be one small thing that's not quite right about my install but I could use some help trying to narrow down where. I really don't want to reinstall the entire OS just for one program.

This still isn't working for me. Just as a reminder, I'm running leopard 10.5.1, Quicktime 7.4, ITunes 7.6 on an Intel Duo Core 2 iMac. I don't understand quite what's wrong and don't even know where to look. Everything I run works just fine except for Fstream. I am on dial-up if that makes any difference at all. I did try disabling all third party input managers and whatever I could think of that could be affecting the program. I know it works on other machines so I'm at a loss.

still can't get this to run correctly. running on an iMac duo core 2, Quicktime 7.4, iTunes 7.6, Leopard 10.5.1. everything else I runs works fine. I have no idea where to look anymore. yried turning off all third party input managers with no luck. I'm at a loss. I know this runs on other machines.

ahhh, I thought you meant PPC as in the processor. Will wait to see what you do with the WMA. (whatever that is) :o)

btw… I am stuck on dialup for the time being, hope that isnt the reason. and I keep forgetting to mention that your status window always says "Status: Disconnected' even while a station is playing. It might just be something is corrupted in my Leopard install, but everything else, and I mean every program of all sorts runs fine. Is quite the dilemma.

actually I have an intel duo core 2 iMac.... not a PPC issue... was wondering if it could be Quicktime 7.4 or iTunes 7.6... I have read other places they broke some other programs. not that I want to go backwards.

Is anyone running this with Quicktime 7.4 and iTunes 7.6 installed? Perhaps there is a conflict.

well I give up. Even tried reinstalling the 10.5.1 update, disabling most input managers. most third party software and still no luck.

I'm having some sort of issue with this... the volume control doesn't seem to work, nor the eq, nor does the status window, although I can connect to webstations and hear them... have no clue what could be wrong

well, this has any number of problems which I have to assume is because its a beta version, although it doesnt say so. It crashes when I quit the app, it doesnt scroll text correctly in message windows, and I have to install a new copy every time I want to use it. otherwise it's fine... :o)

having a small issue with Chax 2.0 & 2.1b1. I have multiple accts but only use one at a time. but at times, when I set one to offline, then close it using the Accounts setting in the menu, iChat crashes. Its fine without Chax installed. it also doesn't do it every time. any thoughts?

v. 1.0.1 is working for me now also. I do have one comment/suggestion... could you make the delay a bit longer in demo mode? not much happens with it before the "bugs" disappear. a little hard to tell if its worth the purchase.
