Spaces.. Spaces.. Spaces.. | Nov 13 2007 |
PASCALPP this is a great solution. looks like you can click an app in the dock once to switch to an app without switching spaces, allowing you to open a new (e.g. Safari) window in the current space. or click the app in the dock twice to switch to the frontmost window in another space. unfortunately, it doesn't work if you use Quickeys to switch apps. i have tons of quickeys shortcuts set up for switching apps, and invoking those still causes Spaces to jump around willy-nilly. I just wish Apple would add a checkbox to the Spaces prefpane to turn off auto-switching. Then it would work out of the box for newbies, and still provide the flexibility that power users require. Free Ruler | Jan 21 2006 |
PASCALPP 1. Regarding CPU usage, this is a known problem. I'm currently working on a rebuild of Free Ruler using a newer version of RealBasic that will hopefully address this problem. 2. If you're using version 1.6, you shouldn't be seeing a drop shadow on the rulers at all. 3. PixelStick is neat. (Version 1.6)

Amazon Album Art | Dec 17 2005 |
PASCALPP yep i figured that would do it. but it would be cool if there was an option to automatically set the artwork for every track where artist name is X and album name is Y. so you could grab the art for a whole album without having to select the album first. you wouldn't have to interact with itunes at all. btw, i was poking around inside your widget (i'm a web developer) and i noticed that the Get From iTunes image has an href wrapped around it AND an onclick. i think both of these events are getting triggered, causing the display to flicker as the search is run twice. Removing the onclick seemed to fix it for me. (Version 1.3)

PASCALPP Rad! Most Excellent. One thing I wish is that it would automatically add the artwork to all track in a given album, but that's probably a bit of a pain to implement. Also I think the 'Get from iTunes' button should be bigger or have a little more space around it. For me it's too small a target considering I'll likely be using that every time. Anyway, a great widget. I might actually use Dashboard now! (Version 1.2)

SW2 Hi pascalpp - thanks for the compliments, I'm glad you like the widget. To set the art for all tracks in an album, simply select all the tracks before hitting the Add to iTunes button. The widget will set your chosen image as the artwork for all selected tracks. Hope this helps!

PASCAL Just downloaded 1.0.6. Preliminary test shows that the network latency is not happening anymore. I can't be sure if they original problem was with BoW or not, but if it was, this version seems to have fixed it. (Version 1.0.6)

PASCAL Is anyone else getting really high network latency when running this app? If I ping apple.com while BoW is running, my response times are usually ~2000ms. If I quit BoW, they drop off to a more acceptable ~90ms. If I run the 'regular' BitTorrent client (4.1.2), my ping times don't go up much if at all. I love this app, but that kind of latency makes other network activity a real drag. Developer, any ideas? (Version 1.0.5)

PASCAL Very cool! I've been looking for something exactly like this to record voicemails (using an audio capture application like WireTap). Unfortunately, I'm not hearing anything when I pick up the line. I think this is a system-wide problem, as I don't hear anything when I dial-up using Internet Connect, even though I've set Sound to On in the Modem pane of Network Preferences. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong? (Version 0.6)

ANONYMOUS I believe there is a problem with USB output sound devices, but I don't know what it is. I discovered that if I have my iMic plugged into the USB port, my sound settings didnt' matter: sound went to these honking headphones connected to the iMic. Macs have always been wonky about sound output in my experience. In this latest version, check the system log to see if Hold On is successfully initting, picking up, and hanging up the modem. if it is it is definitely a sound output conflict. (Version 0.6)

Detour | Jun 10 2005 |
PASCAL Detour is awesome, but for some reason it is conflicting with GraphicConverter on my machine (Dual 2.3 G5 running 10.4.1). GraphicConverter bounces and bounces but never finishes launching. Adding GC to Detour's exclude list fixes the problem. YMMV. (Version 1.5.3)

PASCALPP App won't launch for me either. I'm running Panther *with* the BSD subsystem installed. (Why anyone would disable the BSD subsystem is beyond me.) The 3.4.2 client continues to work just fine. I deleted prefs to see if that would get the 4.0.1 client to run, but no luck. (Version 4.0.1)

PASCALPP clever idea, poorly executed. There's bad (english) grammar throughout the application. And it's not much of a prank if the 'installer' window says 'System Prank', now is it? (Version 1.0)

PASCALPP Pretty cool. Much faster than some similar AB plugins I've seen. One problem: my phone service has a 'stutter' dial-tone to indicate when there's voice mail. This stutter breaks lots of dialers, including Apple's own PPP dialup software. Fortunately, Apple has an 'ignore dialtone' option. Any chance you could add that same option to this AB plugin? That would be awesome. (Version 0.2)

ANONYMOUS doesn't work for me. i tried copying a link from a webpage in safari, and i was hoping to paste the actual URL into ichat, but it still pastes the link as it looks in the original webpage. maybe this plugin is not meant to solve that problem but i hoped it would... (Version 0.11)

ROBIN HAMILTON-PENNELL Works fine for me. However, there's a bug in Cocoa's text views themselves--if you paste something normally, then undo, the field will still be the same style. PlaintextPaste will only paste in the current style, so if the style of the text field is blue and underlined, all text typed or pasted as "Plain Text" will be blue and underlined as well. You can test this yourself by pasting some formatted text into iChat, undoing, and then typing. What you type will still be in the style of the pasted text. Hopefully this made sense. YOXI To do what you want to do in Safari, just ctr-click/right-click on the link, then choose 'Copy link to clipboard' from the contextual menu - this copies the link, not the text that's displayed on the webpage, which is what you want, I think. (Version 0.13)

PASCAL Just to clarify: Free Ruler was never available for OS 9. It was first developed in early 2003, and has always been an OS X-only application. There was an app called Screen Ruler available for OS 9. Perhaps that is what you are thinking of. (Version 1.6)
