CrashPlan
Nov 6 2009
**...

ORYTEK  It may be free for personal use but that just means you can use the software to back up to local drives or a friends remote drive.

If you expect to be able to use Crashplan's offsite server's, forget it. That is only for paying customers. Media is cheap and I am not willing to rent disk space in minnesota.

I'll stick with Time Machine, SuperDuper, and the free 12 gigs of offsite space offered by iDrive. If I'm wrong I will humbly change my opinion and review but if right, I sure feel like there's some deceptive implications offering free personal use with only the need to tolerate advertisements.

ORYTEK  Agreed. For awhile I was doubting the cpu hungry daemon would be fixed but everything is good now.

ORYTEK  Wow. They finally updated it. Was getting ready to start looking for another note app.

This one has the perfect interface. Very easy to quickly enter notes and plenty features for a simple note pad.

ORYTEK  After hours trying to learn this program with tutorials and video training I realized that this thing is not going to work out. I don't think it's ready for prime time.

I am now using tmpgenc dvd author 4 through virtualization and it has made creating bluray disks a reality.

ORYTEK  Easy to see. The column view in Vuze is orderly and simple to quickly see the status on numerous torrents.Transmission has no column view or none to speak of.

For instance to sort not filter, you need to click on some yin yang button in the upper left. And there is only 4 choices. In Vuze you can easily view the column itself to see progress, time left, upload speed, download etc. In fact you can choose from over 30 or so parameters and it is very easy to compare when numerous torrents are present.

****.

ORYTEK  I like Transmission but dislike the interface and was going to return to Vuze. Thankfully I found uTorrent which has an interface very close to Vuze (Azureus) but is quick and has a footprint like transmission. I really like the pane which makes it easy to see what's going on with a quick glance. Transmission is a pain and Vuze is too clunky.

MenuCalendarClock iCal

ORYTEK  I was happy when they first offered to do item support but it is very basic and rudimentary.

The rest of the application is very well thought out and smooth. What's with the to do stuff?

This is supposed to be one of the features for registered users. There is widgets that work better at this.

I would be ashamed to throw out a quick hack for to do items like the developers did, without improving on them. It is a joke and obvious poor workmanship.

Librarian Pro

ORYTEK  While copying this app to my desktop I couldn't help but notice all the realbasic framework libraries contained within the contents being copied over. This skewed my objectivity before I was even able to try it. I'll never know now whether I would have been greeted by the finely honed "NilObjectException" dialog or whether I would have met my first RealBasic app that I liked.
