QQ for Mac
Dec 31 2008
****.

NSTANOSHECK  Not on par with the Linux or Windows versions yet, but there have been a LOT of improvements from the official TenCent QQ for Mac 1.0pre1 and this newest build. Finally we have access to more profile information changing and access to QQ mail and account features from the application.

AddressBookSync

NSTANOSHECK  I found a fix for me. I uninstalled Safari completely (by using AppCleaner.app) and then reinstalled it, and then AddressBookSync 1.1.1 would let me sync with my own Facebook account.

NSTANOSHECK  My daughter is logged in in Safari, but Safari is not open. I am logged in in Firefox and when the app, asks me to log-in, I log in as me, even though it brings up her account first (in a webkit auto-fill maybe?). Even though I sign in as myself the title bar clearly shows it is her account and the friends listed shows me the same. :-(

NSTANOSHECK  Even though I login to my account it syncs with my daughter's account. She uses Safari, i use Firefox. As such, it makes this worthless to me.

DAUCLAIR  Are you logged in as the user into the mac or is it your daughter's account? The program only syncs to the address book of the person currently logged in. Firefox vs. Safari should have nothing to do with it, whatever Facebook email/password you log in with will sync with the mac Address Book of whoever is logged in.

DAUCLAIR  That's a really strange issue, sorry you are having trouble. I've tried replicating it but I'm unable to do so. I had another friend log into Facebook in Safari and used the Remember Me checkbox to save a cookie. I then closed Safari and ran AddressBookSync. My friend email started in the username field (this is to be expected) because the Facebook cookie was saved, but when I cleared it and put in my login info it showed my username in the title bar and my friend list.

I'm using the MkAbeFook framework for OS X to handle all of the Facebook login detals and API calls (http://pointlesscrap.net/mkabefook/). I'm trying to looking into any known issues with Safari cookies using this framework, but I haven't found anything yet.

Just as a test have you tried choosing Reset Safari... under the Safari menu to clear the cache/cookies and then run AddressBookSync and logged in?

Anyone else having similar issues with Facebook cookies in Safari?

Yellow Dog Linux

NSTANOSHECK  I love YDL 3.0 on my old 3400c PowerBook, but was not the biggest fan of 4.1 and switched to Ubuntu for a while, but once Yellow Dog Linux 4.1 came out I switched back and was happy as a clam. YDL 5.0.1 really seems more modern and a much better release. Linux is different and can be hard, but please be sure to use the forum, the mailing lists, and the online help. There is even a book you can buy from Terra Soft Solution! Give it a full 2 weeks to try it out using the numerous support options available and you too will most likely fall in love with this free OS called Yellow Dog Linux.

Strong rumours say that most PowerPC Apple Macinstosh Computers will not be supported after Mac OS X 10.5, so this is the future for all PPC Mac owners.

Mac OS X Daylight Saving Time Software Fix

*****

NSTANOSHECK  I installed this on an old clamshell iBook running Mac OS 10.2.8 and can verify that it installed and worked on it.

It is too bad Apple, Inc. did not make a fix except for people using 10.4.6+ since they made many Macs made in the last 10 years that cannot run 10.4.x. Thank you UNH CIS!
