NONEOFYOURBIZ  Syncing with Google address book is built in to 10.5's address book. What is the point of this app?

BUCHO  Only if you have an iPhone/iTouch synced with iTunes, unless this has changed recently (a quick check in Address Book's preferences still only gives me MobileMe, Exchange or Yahoo as syncing options).

Adium X

NONEOFYOURBIZ  Great program, but a very long standing bug has not been fixed yet. When you try to change the color or size of the fonts used to send messages it stays in effect only until you close the chat window. So every time you open a chat window you have to set your outgoing font prefs.

This has been happening in Adium for many versions now and I just cant understand why this is such a problem to fix.

Lighthouse
Apr 2 2007

NONEOFYOURBIZ  Lighthouse unfortunately is useless for 99% of users because most applications have the UPnP functionality built in. iChat, LimeWire, Azureus, Xtorrent, and many many more do the port mapping for you via built in UPnP. That's really what UPnP was made for. To be built into the code so you, the user, dont have to think about it. I really do like the software though. If Applications didnt do this on their own I would use Lighthouse for sure.

Lighthouse
Apr 2 2007

CODELAIDE.COM  While it is true that some applications come with their own UPnP support built-in, this doesn't render Lighthouse "useless for 99% of the people".

First, there are still lots of applications without UPnP support, such as every VNC server, every unix server application such as ssh or ftp, but also some BitTorrent clients or instant messenger clients (such as Adium), etc...

Second, Lighthouse also supports NAT/PMP, the port mapping protocol supported by Apple routers. Those do not understand UPnP. While many applications have UPnP support, this is often not the case for NAT/PMP, making Lighthouse a valuable tool for people with Apple-branded routers.

Third, some users have reported success with Lighthouse whereas the built-in UPnP support of other applications doesn't work.

Parallels Desktop

JASONCPS  Here are the issues:

1. Play a video(or even play the Pinball game that comes with XP) and you will see that the video and audio are out of sync.

2. Networking errors are still occuring. More specifically, try pinging a website and you will see that you are getting packet loss. The router(at least my router) thinks that there is a "spoof attack" happening and is dropping a lot of packets that come from the internet to the VM. The VM seems to be getting an IP address from the router but there still seems to be something going wrong. Also this can be seen by the VM being unable to share any volumes to any computers on the network(including the Host machine). No other computer can see the shared folder.

3. Very slight and infrequent sound glitches.

Just for the record I am on a MacBook Pro 2Ghz Core Duo w/2GB RAM and 256MB x1600. My router is a D-Link DI-524 rev.D.
