NICOLASD ha! how many days will you have to wait? how about zero, dude! If I had to own only one 3rd party utility for my mac. This would be it. It's indispensable! Every mac owning family. office, group of friends should have a copy. Apple never goes this far in saving your data. They expect you to have regular backups, so their solution can always be "wipe the hard drive and reinstall" or "replace the hard drive" (Version 4.2)

NICOLASD For what this program is designed for... adding and managing large numbers of myspace users, it's really the only Mac native solution. I have a premium license with free lifetime upgrades. Version 2.0 is worth looking at if you have only used 1.4.x. There are a lot more features and the program is MUCH faster and efficient. The developer has been amazingly helpful and responsive whenever I've had problems, sometimes releasing an update addressing my issue mere hours after contacting him. The program has been and continues to be too crashy, but some of that, he tells me has to do with Apple's Core Data framework and how it scales when dealing with hundreds of thousands of records (Myspace users) 2.0.9 is vastly more stable and improved over the initial 2.0 release. So to sum up, the program can be frustratingly unstable, but it's improving, it's a Mac native solution, and the developer is super helpful and responsive. (Version 2.0.9v18)

VMware Fusion | Nov 17 2008 |
NICOLASD just got a new MacBook Pro and was excited to put XP on it. i've used boot camp before. i was going back and forth between whether to get fusion or parallels. i picked fusion... almost arbitrarily. i used to use Connectix's (then Microsoft's) Virtual PC... fusion was very similar to me (and so familiar). fusion was totally easy to set up. install it, launch it, put in a windows install disk and using all the default options i was up and running in a few minutes. when you read the reviews between these two apps, i think you should keep in mind that the two are pretty similar and you can't really go wrong between one or the other. and we are all really benefitting from the fact that these two companies are pushing each other to improve their respective products. NICOLASD Easy there, Turbo. my critique IS a feature request. there are a lot of beautifully designed FREE applications with developers who are dedicated to great user experience using the FREE Sparkle software updating framework for cocoa apps. http://sparkle.andymatuschak.org/ you mean to say these developers are less dedicated or passionate about making great software? and if i want to complain about too-frequent updates, i will, as often as i want to. i've offered a great solution. just because microsoft and adobe's auto updaters suck doesn't mean StarPlayer's needs to. GOODTIME StarPlayr2 will never have an auto-updater. Adobe's and Microsoft's auto updaters put a really bad taste in my mouth. Most shareware that auto updates get in my way and I do not wish to impose point point updates on a user. You can update the software on your own schedule when you want to. We no longer update info on Macupdate or Versiontracker. They are updating it themeselves by scanning our RSS feed or reading NiceMac.com. Many of these updates are daily builds and are only posted officially on NiceMac.com for our users who wish to test the latest and greatest build. If it is that big of a deal contact MacUpdate and ask them to only update the page once a week. The next update will not be released until July 31st.

GOODTIME Thank you for the reply. That's good to know. We will continue producing updates to the public when deemed appropriate. We are infact slowing down, the last 9 point point updates were accelerated due to the Apple Design Awards. Even after the deadline was up at 2.0.4, we had some momentum left over and we felt responsible to provide fixes to our users as they became available. We are working on a Tiger version and a list of a few new features for Leopard. We do not expect to have another release for a two months. (Version 2.0.9)

NICOLASD Request to Developer: PLEASE FIX THE TERRIBLE USER INTERFACE, OR GET SOMEONE TO DO IT FOR YOU! The functionality is GREAT and unmatched, but the more I use this program the more I realize it's extremely user-hostile. Look at a program like WireTap Studio for an example. How about a waveform of the track so we can visually set start and stop points? There are so many problems, I can't begin to list them all. The playlist needs to be a separate window, resizable, sortable the same way an iTunes playlist is. USEFUL. I need this program to work FOR me. GOODTIME Yes. There was only going to be one update this weekend. But as usual after we get about 500 machines test it, I felt it was necessary to correct the bugs to make the new user experience more pleasant. We do try to do them one a week or once a month and we do test them thoroughly, but after we get about a dozen people reporting problems. It was our only choice was to fix them and get it back out there before another 1000-2000 people download it and have the same issues. v1.2.2 is it for this week. Most of us only have time to work on this during the weekends. (Version 1.2.2)
