Bee Docs Timeline
Feb 3 2008
****.

NERRADV  I just downloaded this app and found it very easy to use. I have been looking for something that would visually display the projects that we have in our office with meetings, deadlines, etc.

I am not a left brained project manager geek and the project management apps like OmniPlan, Merlin, etc are just too complicated and unattractive for what I was looking for.

Bee Docs makes it quick to set up a timeline that our designers and technicians can understand and is easy on the eyes. While it isn't as detailed as a PM app, it more quickly shows us what is overlapping and where the fires are. It does let you add pictures and notes to each event which is also very nice.

It is missing a few features that would be nice such as the ability to manipulate fonts and manual layout. Automatic layout works though so not too much of a complaint.

I don't know of anything that is perfect so I give it a 4. I tried a couple other "timeline" apps as well but I ended up buying Bee Docs Timeline.

Nisus Writer Pro
Sep 14 2007

NERRADV  For the $79 Nisus Pro Costs, I can buy iWork and get Pages, Keynote and Numbers. Pages can read and write Word documents and is nearly perfect with Track Changes.

Even Mellel only costs $49. While not as aesthetic in the gui department, it is very capable.

Nisus is just whack with their pricing and very slow with features. Lots of promises now for a very long time.

Apple Backup

NERRADV  I just don't understand why this app can't back up everything. Why not include Applications? Yeah, I know it will do the ones in my home folder...

RJBAILEY  You can backup whatever you want. It's almost trivial. That you haven't figured out how to do it has nothing to do with the usefulness of this program.

KAYELİ  You can easily create your own custom backup plan which can include whatever you wish to backup, including the contents of your entire hard disk, if you like. You don't have to just go with the defaults. They are simply there to make it easy to get started.

DayliteABMenu

NERRADV  This is really a pathetic move by Daylite. Syncing is not good with Apples addressbook and Daylites. Why can't Daylite utilize the real Addressbook? And why take up space on the menubar?

Next they will do the same with a Daylite Calendar cause they can't sync seamlessly with it either.

I used to really like Daylite. They just really, in the end, don't get the Mac at all.
