MTCOBRA I failed to mention... I do not have a UI that looks anything like the screen shot. What I have is just a three-column list of stations: Music notes icon and Name, ?, and type of station. If there's a way to induce the neat looking 'radio' shown in the screen shot, I haven't found it yet. (Version 1.20)

MTCOBRA My version of Flip4Mac: 2.2.3.7 It works fine for me (2.33 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo iMac). Sound is great, even includes a disco-like screen option. I can't read the column headings, however. It's all Greek to me! :-) It takes, sometimes, several seconds for a station to 'kick in,' and you have to double click on your choice (you'll see a microphone icon appear). Sound is very open and clear. A keeper! (Version 1.20)

MTCOBRA This program doesn't quit. I mean that it doesn't QUIT when you tell your computer to Shut Down, and you forgot to Quit this program, Shut Down won't. You can't quit it from the Dock, only from the menu bar. Otherwise it does what it does as advertised. But I just don't trust a program that won't quit, so I discarded it totally. (Version 1.0)

MTCOBRA With the current version, this application accesses all of the data elements in Address Book, allowing me to customize email to any of my address groups with personalized email confirmations of their mailing address, phone number (home/work/mobile), of course email address(es), so I can periodically verify that all the elements are current. And this program has excellent support from its developer, Falko. This is something I've wanted to use for a long time, and now, that time is here. Thanks again, Falko! (Version 6.0.1)

LazyMouse | Apr 23 2009 |
MTCOBRA In the users guide (available at the developers site) you are informed that using Terminal, you can instruct LazyMouse to disregard, or not apply to certain applications. I found that information very useful when I discovered recently that while LazyMouse was active, my iTunes songs sounded like the needle on the tone arm (remember those, anyone?) was 'hopping.' Not so subtle 'clicks and pops' interfering with the music. I disabled LazyMouse totally, and the problem cleared up. Then I re-enabled the program, but entered the command to ignore iTunes, and I'm once again, a happy camper! LazyMouse where I want it, but NOT in iTunes. YMMV (Version 2.1.3)

KOBALT MTCOBRA, you don't actually have to go into the DOS-like Terminal to exclude certain apps from being 'lazy-moused'. This is a Mac app and it has is a handy little 'Exclude...' button right there in the control panel for all of us who want to use a Mac as a Mac. :) (Version 2.1.4)

MTCOBRA No problems with 4.0.2 here (iMac 10.5.6 Intel). I first opened the earlier version, clicked on Check for Updates, but the resulting download indicated an error. So I closed the program and clicked on Download Now (above). I ran the program before copying to the Applications Folder and had no problems. I then completed the installation (copied the .app to Applications) and ran the program again. No problems. Perhaps you, too, tried to download from the earlier version's Check for Updates? If so, try downloading it again from this page. (Version 4.0.2)

MTCOBRA This is a very useful program. However it works only with Finder windows. Since I have started using Path Finder, this program no longer is of any use to me. I am keeping my eye on this, however, in the event the developer makes it workable with Path Finder. (Version 3.0)

MTCOBRA It resides as a small menu icon on the top, main menu along with all your other "stuff." When a new item is offered on CheapandSteep, a pop-up (not big) window opens showing the item, then automatically disappears. Or, you can close it if you want to, but it closes quickly enough. What is great is you can 'filter' this thing. Main use: I'm a guy, so I filter anything for women out, so I am not bothered by notices of women's ski boots, etc. Unfamiliar with CheapandSteep? Generally items are out-door oriented, such as sun glasses, sleeping bags, ski clothing, tents, etc. High quality merchandise at very discounted prices. (Version 1.0b11)

MTCOBRA Observation and Review: You launch the program, and everything from your desktop disappears except the Dock and the menu bar on top of your screen. Double-click anywhere on the desktop, and a window appears that has all the files that was on the desktop before. Close the screen, and a clean desktop. Double-click and the window's back. The one icon that's not "listed" on the desktop window is the HD icon itself. Not needed - you're looking at what it opens if you click on it already. When I first tried it, my desktop changed to an Apple desktop, but I was quickly able to change it back to what I wanted. In addition, the menu icon that's added at the top of your screen's menu bar allows direct access to the desktop/screen savor preferences as well as display preferences. I like this! I like this a lot! (Version 1.22)

Eddy Timer | Nov 9 2008 |
MTCOBRA Follow-up observation: The alarm will go off, even if your screen saver kicks in, and if the normal black screen that follows comes on. The alarm will NOT go off, and in fact goes into suspended animation, if you "put the computer to SLEEP" manually (press the on-off button, or select SLEEP from the Apple menu, for instance). Once re-awakened from SLEEP, the timer will continue the count-down from where it left off. (Version 1.2)

MTCOBRA I appreciate the application. Simple and easy to use. Would like, in addition to setting hours/minutes/seconds for an elapsed time (in 3 hours 42 minutes sound alarm), I'd like to see a time-of-day setting (at 3:15 PM today sound alarm). Having both types would make this application nearly perfect. (Version 1.2)

MTCOBRA I really enjoy this game. It makes me have to think in terms of moves, but unlike chess, I've only one opponent, and his possible moves are regulated. I think: I move here, he'll have to move there... etc. Even so, running short of time, I'll sometimes use the CHEAT feature, then study it for future games. You can make your own situations/games with this program as well. Interesting that MacUpdate noted that there was no information relative to this current update from 1.10 to 1.11. Me thinks, looking at the 'more information' or 'get info' that this new version was written back on October 25th, not in November. Me thinks the creator ups the version # when another application is updated, just to get it re-listed on MacUpdate's updates. Exposure, exposure, exposure. Nevertheless, it's a good, one-on-computer game, and I'm glad I have it in my games arsenal.

Plaxo | Oct 22 2008 |
MTCOBRA I've used Plaxo in the recent past until I found that it was causing some unusual effects to my Address Book. The Nick Name field was being altered. If my address book contained, say, two Charles, then the nick name of the first that I has set as 'Chuck' was ok, but the nick name of the second was changed to 'Chuck2.' Additional Charles's were numbered as well (3, 4, etc.) In using SerialMailer, where I wanted to use the nick name within the body of emails, that numbering was unacceptable. 'Hi, Chuck3:' just wasn't the way I wanted it to be. Frustrated me until I found that by getting rid of Plaxo, the problem went away. I had to re-name all the numbered nick names, but they stayed as entered after that. If any of you have found that Plaxo no longer does this altering, do reply and let me know. The other features were great. I just could not have it altering my nicks! (Version 3.12 v839)

DCOLACE Plaxo for Mac has never altered the data that is synced. What you might be remembering is that older versions of Plaxo for Mac would create custom labels for things like email and phone numbers with things like "work 2" and "home 3" to match the multiple phone and email slots shown in the Plaxo Online interface. The past several versions of Plaxo for Mac have done away with these numbered, custom labels so that software that works with the standard, Apple provided, "Home" and "Work" labels will work correctly. BILLY THE BIKER I would like to reinstall Plaxo, because I think it would be handy, but I had big problems with duplication in my Address Book when I installed it last summer, and had to manually go through twice deleting dupes. If I knew that it wouldn't happen again I would give it another try. MobileMe has worked the bugs out, so I am continuing to use it for the time being. (Version 3.12.2v868)

MTCOBRA I downloaded the cluster of files - consists of a folder with many files that installs into the Applications Folder. It includes an uninstaller as well. When I saw that many of the files were .exe files, I used the uninstaller and zapped the whole package. Interesting to me, the zapper zapped the folder, leaving NOTHING behind - not a trace in my trash to delete, just POOF! I didn't try the program, because to me, .exe spells PC. -mtc (Version 1.2.1)

Get Tube | Aug 12 2008 |
MTCOBRA There is no help available for Get Tube. When you open it, you see the icons for Firefox and Safari. Click on either and a message displays "No Video or Connection Disabled..." It SHOULD read: "No Video or Connection Detected..." (Something lost in the French translation.) To get Get Tube to work, load up one of the browsers, go to YouTube, select a movie, THEN when you click on the browser icon in Get Tube, you'll be told the name of the movie, and a button to download it is available - the Video has been detected. Preference settings tell Get Tube where you want it saved. Quick and easy. (Version 3.0.2)

MTCOBRA Interesting. I'm looking at the site for PDFpen 3.5, yet when I do Get Info, About, or Check for Updates on my PDFpen 3.4.2, it reports that I have the latest version. Perhaps the inability to detect new versions is one of the things corrected or added in this new, 3.5 edition? I recall having had to PUSH the update (rather than PULL) the last time I updated PDFpen. (Version 3.5)

MTCOBRA Took MacUpdate's advice and contacted the developer for assistance. After an exchange of email, the problem was traced to a permission level in Library/Applications Support. I can now begin my 30-day trial evaluation of this software. Here is the step-by-step solution provided by AceReader Pro's pro, Jim: 1. Double click on your harddrive icon. 2. Double click on the "Library" folder. 3. Do a "Get Info" on "Applications Support" and open the "Sharing & Permissions:" triangle. 4. You need to have "Read & Write" permissions for "admin". If not, click on the lock, enter your password and change the permissions to "Read & Write". Worked for me!!! (Version 5.1.1)
