MMUECK I have tons of old Word documents containing graphics that display as garbage in Word 2008 (including this new version). They display fine in all previous versions of Word. Pictures are either bounding boxes with a big cross, wrong magnification, upside down and backwards, light gray instead of black... Good Grief! I just received a PowerPoint presentation from a co-worker - it displays fine on everybody's PC but when viewed on my Mac all the graphics contain offset magnified double-images that extend off the page. I'm in complete awe of M$'s legendary hopeless quality control. (Version 12.1.2)

MMUECK I paid for this software and with the release of 2.0 it became just too "in your face" all the time for my liking. I don't even use it anymore. I wholeheartedly agree with you that it would be nice for the developer to adjust the filtering, or provide accompanying comments in the pop-ups (like which application initiated the activity), so that Joe Average had a much better clue of what was going on. MMUECK In defense of the original poster, I too don't buy software that requires this kind of protection. You could do something like 1Password - they have a jpeg picture that contains the serial number etc. embedded in it. (Version 1.1.2)

MMUECK You probably did the same thing as me - heard the update was out, went to the M$ site and just grabbed the latest download. The real download only became available several hours after the announcement. Of course, the error message I got could have just said in plain freaking English that the update I tried to install was already there... (Version 12.1)

MMUECK Doh! You're right - I did download the 12.0.1 instead of the 12.1. I read the reports saying the new update was out, went to M$'s site and just grabbed the latest update which, at the time, was 12.0.1. They've since added 12.1. (Version 12.1)

MMUECK I just downloaded the Office 2008 12.0.1 updater and was unable to install it. It scanned the disk for quite some time and eventually marked my drive as unavailable, citing: "You cannot install Microsoft Office 2008 for Mac 12.0.1 Update on this volume. A version of the software required to install this update was not found on this volume". The above makes no sense because I can in fact run my fully registered Office 2008 on my machine. I did a permissions repair prior to the install. I also had the recent Microsoft auto-updater update installed. Possible contributing issues might be: - I also have the full Office 2004 suite installed on my machine - a necessary requirement because Office 2008 mangles so many of my Office 2004 Word documents. - I am using FileVault. MMUECK The vast majority of my older version of Word documents that have anything more in them than just plain text have issues. Word 2004 displays these documents just fine - Word 2008 butchers them. I even tried saving the documents in Word 2004 as varying formats and Word 2008 still mangled them upon import. Diagrams that I created outside of the M$ universe and then pasted into Word now either don't show up at all or have annoying artifacts. Equations that worked just fine before are now replaced by the word 'Error!'. In short, a completely useless upgrade for me. I can't believe I gave those guys my money. Oh yea, even though I purchased Office 2008 as a brand new package, if you have any issues it'll cost you $50 per incident to deal with THEIR bugs. Now that's classic Microsoft service for a new customer who just plonked down a few hundred dollars! (Version 12.0.1)

TypeIt4Me X | Apr 18 2008 |
MMUECK I've been using this product for over a year and have been at the developer for most of that time to deal with an infuriating issue with the text expansions. I've found the developer to be much more interested in adding features than fixing issues. On the average, about once in every couple dozen expansions (I have a library of over 2500 expansions) the expanded text gets all mangled e.g. the result is some combination of the abbreviation and the final text, or it fails to include the trigger character, or the expansion occurs in the middle of the following word etc. It's true you can really blast along typing at higher speeds (although I'm just a medium speed 4 finger peck and shoot typist), but I'm sure spending a lot of time having to meticulously proof read the result of my typing to fix all the expansion mangling. I also own Typinator and TextExpander and they don't have this problem. The ONLY reason I've been putting up with TypeIt4Me is because it does single-character expansions and the competition didn't. I've been urging the developer of Typinator to implement this feature and he's finally released a version that does it! However, his implementation has a couple killer limitations that must to be addressed before I jump ship, but he's getting there. (Version 4.0.2)

MMUECK So I found the 0090-BETA version earlier in the day where I work (a large electronics that employs over 10k people). Your file is dated November 8, mine was dated November 13, and the MacUpdate posting for the new version indicates the final 0090 was released on November 18. I'm not clear at all if the file available here for download is the 'final' version or just some intermediate release candidate. (Version 4.9.01.0090)

MMUECK Can somebody PLEASE send this software version to the MacUpdate guys so it can be accessed through them and by NOT having to visit the Cisco site. That site is so horribly broken, the best you can do to get to the downloads page is to enter an infinite loop of logging in after successfully registering. I've tried 5 different browsers including IE on a PC. (Version 4.9.01.0090)

RORQUAL The site isn't broken at all. It's just that you must have a Cisco service contract to be able to download most software from their site. The free account enables access to their forums and the like, not to software. (Version 4.9.01.0090)

I did open the package and the file is most certainly designated in the 'Get Info' window as version 4.9.0.1 (0090) with no mention of being beta. Though it may well be a beta. As well, it may help a lot of people who are having issues with 4.9.0.1.0080. So, it's an interim measure. Hang in there, I'll find it eventually. And if anyone else finds it, for cryin' out loud please post the download URL here. Thanks. (Version 4.9.01.0090)

MMUECK Like other posters here, I too own the previous pro version and balked at the upgrade price to the extent that I've gone off looking at other products. MMUECK I tried this out by editing a 99 page pdf file that I wanted to mark up and cull a bunch of pages. I have the latest MacBook Pro, and even then working on this document was excruciatingly sloooow. By comparison, Apple's Preview was able to navigate this document at near instantaneous speeds. Didn't much care for some of the user interface polish either (some of the toolbar icon sizes and graphics). I don't know if this is the best software out there for this task, but I've definitely been motivated to go ahead and look everywhere else before paying anything... (Version 3.2)

MMUECK Just echoing my big Thank You for making this available for download. I've been trying to get this from Cisco's site for a couple hours - they have some kind of buggy login infinite loop that doesn't actually let you get anywhere. What a royal pain in the a$$ their site is! I sent them an email, but when I got an automated response from their customer service center in INDIA I knew it was time to give up on them... MMUECK I posted previously that if we missed the TTP target by only reaching 5000 bundle sales that TTP could subsequently be offered to the purchasers for $10 in order to fulfill the $$ requirements the makers of TTP need to release that product. That number drops to less than $5 if we reach 5500 sales. So even if we don't make it, hopefully MacUpdate will ask us all for an extra $5 so we can have it all. That would definitely take the sting out of missing the target by a hair. If anybody from MU is reading these posts please consider this as a Plan-B option! What I'm also scared of is missing the target by a little and then having a number of ungrateful irritated people raking MU over the coals. Even if we miss out on TTP, MU have done a fantastic job putting this all together and I'm still one hell of a satisfied customer. (Version )

MMUECK Say we miss the 6000 mark and only get to 5000 by the end of the day (which seems quite probable). We will have missed out on a free TTP for all by $50,000. So how about when all the dust settles asking all the 5000 bundle purchasers to pony up another $10 and then we all get TTP at 90% off. (Version )

MMUECK I have most of these applications already, so I'm only interested in this if at least Intaglio makes it into the deal. Given that the vast majority of sales will occur in the first 2 days, there is now NO WAY even 4000 sales will be made. So I'm not jumping in. Bummer... (Version )

MMUECK This is a really good program with all the features you'll ever need EXCEPT, like the previous poster mentioned, it has zero practical barcode scanning capability with the new computers that have built-in cameras. I ended up having to hook up my firewire capable camcorder to my mac and using that for the video input. Even then you had to work at making it be recognized - I had to give up on autofocus and hold the barcodes at a very specific place to get them to read reliably. At least the developers acknowledge this problem and are supposedly working on it... I also wish the default movie rating would come from IMDB and not Amazon. People who rate stuff on Amazon are usually biased to liking the movie because they purchased it in the first place (hence the ratings always seem higher). IMDB ratings aren't biased in that way and they also have many more votes to average things out. (Version 3.1.3)
