Please : - avoid double/tripple file listing - make App name / Filepath /size name sortable - add size of file (as an extra, may takes time) - add processbar (apps working on generating the list - slow macs may "hang" for lot of seconds) Thanks !!! |

Great looking App , BUT ! Takes a lot of RAM and some % of CPU Time (over time same as Windowserver which is much!) in background (CheckAlert+CheckAgent tasks) even if you dont need/want checks+logs over the time. I ony want that the app takes his RAM+CPU if its aktive. Disabling that Launchd tasks will not allow running theapp only - thats the reason why i give only 3 Stars and stay at Menumeters (much less RAM+CPU usage on my DC Intel) |

Indeed an great tool. Also great for OpenGL Benches (Test Tab), running it an native+higher resolutions above 1024x768. Xbench OpenGL : forget it. |

I get some Java Error in Main Language ? I use german OS X. I see (in your source) that you grep some text like build-in Ethernet, this e.g. is in german Ethernet (intigriert). |

Really great App to produce satndalone Videos or as Clips for iDVD and keynote Projekts. Hint: Use low Quality Setting in the preview - the workflow will be much faster and it didnt change export Quality. Hope there will be more themes in the future ! |

You are right, but how can i make segmented (<= 1.499MB) .dmg or .zip that all can handle ? Stuffit can only make segmented .sitx files. |

You can see only a difference if the server is limited in speed. If you get max. of 225 kB/S (2 Mbit) without SD you dont need it for that server. But if you get only 50 KB/S SD speed up your DL !!! |

Speech will be disabled in later versions. The .sitx Problem is made by my Webspace ISP, he didnt know mime type of .sitx. In next version (soon ) you will get an .sitx.zip which can be downloaded without the .txt added (by the browser, not me). There is also i litte bug comparing piechart old/new which will be fixed in V0.81. Thanks for comment. |

You need first OS X Webcamdriver for your Webcam ! iGlasses (and other Webcam Enhancers) need workingr webcam driver - they are itself NO webcamdriver. Try freeware Webcamdriver (USB Webcams): http://webcam-osx.sourceforge.net/ Many USB Webcams supported. But iChatAV (this only) is blocked for USB Webcams - you need the iCHatUSB Enhancer also (plus webcam driver). |

Hi, low triangle values are not interersted. The may thing is how much tringles you got lat last (9 FPS). Or the result value (8500 1500, yours maybe 6000) |

Great, near CPU independent GPU Render Bench. Dont look at the startup window FPS - to small , to less triangles. Real Results interesting you, you will gett by running the "Run Benchmark" (Menü Openmark). The Openmark counts with thr "Run Benchmark" how many triangles can be computed by the GPU/VRAM Speed until 9.0 FPS is reached - in fullscreen. |

fast (low cpu usage!) , Great, very stable und easy programm. Its easy to use - but gives all information about the state of all actions. Unique feature: 3D Show of actions, shows new users how .torrent works . A picture says more than a lot of words. |

Dont worry about that so much. The time you need to boot from tools CD´s is exterme. Techtool needs more than 10 Minutes to boot, also DW or selfmade CDs (only Panther) with BootCD need more than 5 Minutes. So, also very usefull , you should have an second parttion (also usefull for Techtool or Diskwarrior) or external Disk (backups !!) Because idefrag has an very good "quick" defrag, you donnt need to boot from CD normally. Only the (needs much more time) full defrag or optimized defrag needs an boot from CD7 external Drive / other parttion. And remember: Always check your drive (volume check/repaier NOT rights check) before you use any such defrag tool. idefrag & Co won´t be very helpfull if your disk is near full. If the disk is more than 90% full, you would need to defrag very often ! So keep your disk(volume/system parttion ) more clean and have at least 20% freespace. |

Often used (for me) best defrag tool. Unique: You can also defrag "online/quick", means no need to boot from CD/ Ext. Drive. This quick mode Defrags most files, but not defrag freespace. If you want to know why istnt really true: "Bullshit tools, OS X defrags all itself" try my freeware app ShowvolumeFragmentation. Some of you may be irritated about high disk fragmentation, even if 10 GB of 80 are free. SFV is also at macupdate.com (search for Showvolume) |

"1) This app will broadcast your root/admin password via ps!" The password "stays" on your secure area ! Notbing of password or personal data is transfered outside of the app (to a file) or over lan/internet. The only data transfered is the version number of hfsdebug - but only if sou use "check hfsdebug version" in the information menu. The reason why the app still doesnt use the standard OS X password dialog is simple: RB still didnt have that buildin, i would need to pay for an kommercial plugin. If RB supports OS X password dialog, sure the app will use it. Sure, the GUI needs more work - buts V071. |

Sure, in later versions the GUI will be in focus. The SFV does much more than an normal GUI. like saving / compare of freespace piechart. Be patient V0.70 will be availbale soon. But remember- its still an Carbon App, which will never look like an Cocau App - but sure it will be more clear. |

The GUI works , my focus is NOT to serve people with beautyful Icons or a MactheRipper (i like it) designed interface. Its just an GUI - and much more usable than hfsdebug in the terminal. If you have suggestions for changes of usability or funktions , all are invited to make suggestions. But comments like "ugly", not enough Apple like , will change nothing. |

Some is in my readme. I will add more "how to " soon. You can do : If you have enough disk space: Make an folder "defrag" . copy (not move, you need an + if drag & Drop) the fragmented file to this folder. delete orig. file. If you have ennough disk space the file will be much less fragmentated. If no (to less space, but more than 10% free): use an defrag tool ( i use idefrag). But remember: BEFORE you use an defrag tool, ALWAYS!!! check/repair the volume. I mean reapir volume NOT repair permissions using Diskwarrior or OS X disk tool. If you have less/equal 10%(to 15%) free, dont waste your time with defrag tools. buy an new, bigger HD or install an second. defrag tools are NOT useless, but for good success you need an disk which isnt near full. |

The writer of this tread gets an sudo error "sudo: Sorry no tty available". Anybody else get this error (detaild out put since V0591)? (Maybe: running as root account, not using bash shell,...) |

Since V059 my app gets informed when you use an hfsdebug without the execute oermission. The app will ask to set them for you . No need to run chmod call from "hand". |

Thanks for reply. I uploaded an new V059 Version, with a bit changed password check. Download V059 again please. It also shows the OS X error message (of running an sudo call). You need to be an admin/user to use my app. No root account/user needed, but if you are logged an with restricted rights my app cant work. |

New V058 adds an permission check and if needed allows an settting of hfsdebug to execution rights by an dialog. If an file, like hfsdebug, hasn´t the right permissions, my app can´t run it, even if the file is there and named hfsdebug. Also the volumes may have spaces in their names. But until now, volume names with non-ascii character will NOT work (like /Volumes/mňnster). Lot of bsd apps (shell apps) will fail if they have no name conversion routine buildin. Better not name Volume / folders with non ascii characters. |

hfsdebug has to be in the Folder ShowVolumeFrag anywhere on disk (no non ACSII names in path). You have to rename the downloaded G3/G4G5 build to hfsdebug and copy it into the folder ShowVolumeFrag. The hfsdebug must can run in the terminal (it must have rights to execute). You can see the execute rights visible , the hfsdebug looks like terminal icon or with ls -l , it has x rights also. |

You dont need to have an root user. I also only have one user, the admin. The programm uses an sudo call, which allows an admin to be an superuser. V060, soon, will have the normal OS X authentification dialog If you get an message : Error: cant open ... file" Then the background app hasn´t written an invisble outputfile. Reason: a) Maybe problem with volume names b) maybe external HD/Volume ( i dont have one, so maybe bug) Please contact me, to get an debug version of this app. |

For users complain about the non-standard authorisation dialog, V060 will use that normal OS X root authorisation. I found an solution using it with Realbasic. be patient. |

Sorry, but Realbasic can´t use the standard autorisation dialog. I work on an workaound using an applescript starts up the app. What do yoe mean with the Menüs in wrong language ? Please send me an screenshoot. Until now, i dont use the Menü for User interaction, except the Quit. |

please contact hfsdebug dev (use contact link on his homepage). Maybe also usefull to use an other browser, or enable accecpt cockies,... For me it worked with Safari 2.0. I dont know whats wrongs with his page code for some users. If you cant get it at all, send me your mail@, i will send you the builds.dmgs |

My app checks if there was an password input. If not given, you cant get further. Sure, if you dont have an password for admin/superuser (sudo command) , my app needs an little change. But i recommend that you use an admin password. Without that, the security is much less, even you run such a save OS X. Mail me (iceguy@freenet.de) to get an version without password check. |

Thanks reporting error with your PB. I can´t test/fix it without your ioreg file. Start Terminal. ioreg -l -w 1200 > ioreg.txt (-l means -smallL) ioreg.txt is generated into home folder Send ioreg file to me (iceguy@freenet.de). (stuffit if you want) Also may very usefull to look into the systemprofiler / PCI/AGP to Videocard and tell me if one or dual display mode is running. You will see this, if the VRAM is splitted to 2 cards. Thanks |

Have you enabled two display support ? You will see the card is splitted into two cards (each half VRAM of the card) in Systemprofiler. If not ( i think so) try Version V072. Maybe you downloaded my debug version (shows always your results) which i have uploaded by mistake. To many files in my Dev Folder ;) Sorry, if thats happen. |

Sure, but there are some major features added. And the tool is relative new - but makes great steps in his short livetime. This tool has such a small downloadsize (other than XPlane BetaBetas) that you may downlaod it or BETTER first check the "More Information" (Homepage) Informations if an update is needed for you or not. Second reason for update is, like other small programmers, that i have only one MAC with one videocard, which makes such a hardware-tool hard to test without uploading it to others. Thanks to all users helped (comments, ioreg files) by mail contact. Last, but not least: The tool is at the end of featurelist. Does what it should - shows information of our videocards. Only some problems (if there) will be fixed later.

Sorry for "early birds" downloader (sunday, ATI Tool first listed). I made a small change, Version is also V070: show the trigger settung below triggerslider. Information/ screenshoot to compare your version use Hompage / More information here. Why this: i saw , that you can´t see small changes of the slider really - so you now see it by the printed number below the slider too. |

Works perfect. Found an damaged Module on my G3 MAC. On older MACs, even with fast CPU upgrade, it may take a lot more time than 5400 sec (G5). Hint: To see how much time it will take, first check a part of 5 or 10 MB of the memory, before all available. You can say that in the commandline how much or all mem is tested. On slow macs it could take hours to check mor than 512 MB. |

The ruhl.kh file is very big (> 330 KB) i have near no privat rule sets ?! The 073 rule set is much smaller, even with private site settings. (8/27/2004, Version: 2.0.1) |

Thankyou for reply (Camino saves the file). But Safari still doesn´t :( It´s not alone safari, but if an profider didn´t send the mimi-type , an browser should ask what to do, i think. Safari tries to render the sitx file ... Camino has more AI ;) |

Because my provider didn´t handel the mime type of .sitx correct, you have to DOWNLOAD by right click (or context key + click) of the Downloadlinks to get the save dialog of your browser. NEW: Tool need PANTHER 10.3 for full support of all values. If you have JAGUAR, there is an extra Download within my small homepage. Use More Information link here. |

So, we get the problem. Jaguar, even with newest ATI drivers, have less values than Pamther. And they are named little different too. I updated homepage and added an special download for JAGUAR users. At least ATI 8500 Jaguar Users are involved, maybe all ATI and Nvidia Users may use only the Jaguar Version. But you can try Panther Version. If most values are zero , use Jaguar Version. Jaguar Version shows only VFRAM FREE and Texture Count. |

Mark all, Copy all to Textedit and send it to: iceguy@freenet.de If you want look in self, youwill find an vramFreeBytes entry, if not or value zero, the tool can´t get results, because your system/driver didn´t show them. |

Since V058 ALL known Grafikcards are working: * all NVIDIA cards * 7000/7500/8500/9000/9200 9600/9700/9800 * updated Logfile format for better reading * no more IOREG File needed - Thanks to all send me their IOREAG file (needed for NVIDIA support and some bugfix) Known ""Problem": Works only if aktivated GK is inside, if you have 2 aktive GKs the App will show only one. Will be done soon. |

Maybe you started download at same time i updated the file on the ftp server. So the link can,t work until i uploaded the file. The link works. If someone get this error message , try downloading a bit later (10 minutes). |

The MHZ only work with real Powerlogix 750FX/GX. " I use an older 50 mhz PCI Mac and have the same problem. My results from terminal are: hw.busfrequency: 50000000 hw.PowerLogixHID1: 1610612736" The second value means (there are some bits to test) Software PLL : disabled. My Tool cant get the PLL Bits of the 750FX if there is no 750FX CPU. MHZ will only work, if you also can switch MHZ (PLL) by the CPU Director. MHZ fixed systems (non G3 750FX/GX) should use my second tool, see readme in downloadfile. |

Added an Version which only shows the temp, not the MHZ. Usefull for people getting the MHZ error, but temp works. Working on MHZ value. Added / updated readme. Same downloadlink, second tool is within the .sitx. |

HI, iam back. Try to start terminal. In terminal type: sysctl hw.busfrequency Whats the result ? My G3 beige show this: Andreas:~ ami$ sysctl hw.busfrequency hw.busfrequency: 66820000 (meens 66,66 MHZ Bus) Andreas:~ ami$ The programm needs busfrequenzy because some PL MACS have 66 some 100 (g3 b/w). |

Maybe it is your 10.2.8, i dont know. Which Tool Version do you have downloaded ? Since V058 , i have removed the generate IOREG Button. The button was aktive until V057. If you have V057 on your HD, start it and then push the button Generate IOREG file , wich appears in the Startup information window of the tool. after pushing the buuton, there will be an file generated with the normal file dialog of OS X. Send me that file with mail. iceguy@freenet.de If you don´t have an version before V058, i can send you it by mail. Simple an short " Need V057" and i reply by mail. |

I also use the ATI 7000 PCI 64 MB, OS X 10.3.4 Which OS X Version do you use ? Is that your only card in there ? Have you enabled TV Mode ? (Monitor Perpane shows that) generate the IOREG file and mail it to iceguy@freenet.de |
