I attempted to install this game onto my harddrive, and it installed successfully. So where is it? I can't seem to find the game anywhere. A Spotlight search simply finds the installation package and the disk image.

The game is ridiculously slow. I've got a Mac Pro with a Quad Xeon and an Nvidia Geforce 8800GT, and the game runs like molasses at 1920by1200 resolutionw ith full settings on.

Now, if you think the high settings are to blame, think again: the computer is more than capable of handling it. When I boot into Windows XP Pro and play the same game with the same settings and screen resolution, the game is has smooth frame rates and responds quickly.

Aspyr: please wake up on this. We want to seriously enjoy this amazing game without being hampered by performance bugs, and without having to rely on Windows. :(

I'm liking where the new user interface is going. This program seems like it's really matured.

Well, requirements state that it THIS version of the fix requires iTunes 7.3.X. This should mean that it's safe to use with any variant of 7.3.xxxxxxxx. Right?

Umm yes. This is NOT a universal binary, as I am clearly unable to launch it on a powerbook. What's up with that?

I would kill for a feature that allowed me to set the program to message all my online contacts with some standard (or customized) message whenever I decide to (or whenever I log in). I remember ICQ had a "message all" feature back in '99. Is this possible now? Can it be possible at some point? Is there a script/plugin that does this?

Thank you for a great application.

I think, much like someone else has suggested, that you should implement that protocol that allows the program to download and update itself, instead of us having to open our browsers and do the manual work.

It would sure make the process of updating less annoying, considering how frequently you update (which is rather commendable).

Perhaps you can add a feature that disables those annoying growl notification for such useless things as "someone change a something in their profile", "someone added a photo", etc. When you have as many people on facebook aa some, these annoying notifications can really bombard you by the minute.

Also, why can't I just have it update everything at once, but once every few minutes, instead of seconds?

Seems like this latest Beta screw up the non-foldered bookmarks that exist in the bookmark menu of such browsers as Safari and Camino.

This program seems to have a lot of great features, however, it's user interface is both ugly, buggy, and not up to par with EVEN the standards of Windows in terms of ease of use and logic.

After writing the title of the book, after pressing tab, the text input should automatically go to the next field, being author; what it does is it goes to the author field, and then immediately jumps into the main writing area. ... C'mon!

Another major problem is that if you don't like the font settings, changing them 1) requires a program restart, and 2) changes the font of ENTIRE USER INTERFACE! What on earth is the point of that?

I honestly feel this application has great things going for it--would have great things going for it--but the developer needs to realize that Mac users don't put up with such sub-standard ports of badly interfaced Windows programs. Money needs to be spent on Mac-ification of this program, and many users will buy it ahead of the competition, which isn't really that well established as it is.

I second your comment. After clicking on Shutdown, the program tells me that there is an applescript error, and starts the process of automation again... and suddenly the program loses the "quit" command.

I think that the latest version of this program has a SERIOUS MEMORY LEAK. I've noticed RECENTLY, that after working on some files, opening and closing in photoshop, saving and reloading--the usual stuff--the memory iView starts using is insane! I've never seen it climb to 950mb before this update, but now I can regularly make it suck that much of my precious RAM away. I hope this is known and being worked on, because I would hate to think that this is a glitch on my end.

What exactly is a supported machine? My G4 Powerbook isn't supported, or is claimed not to be supported by the software when I attempt to run it. Is this correct because you officially don't support this laptop, or is this an error?

Me too, I cannot connect to ANY networks with this, whereas I can and do with Limewire and Poisoned. I am guessing that this is NOT a port issue with my router, because I told it to connect on the same port as Limewire, which works. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'd love to use this program, because Limewire is way too big, bloated, and slow, and Poisoned is a joke in terms of results and download speed.

Alright. Thank you for explaining that too me! Now I'll know exactly what to do after I do repair (reset) my permissions. What had struck as odd before you explained it was that I thought the program somehow did not save the preferences before a shutdown (whereas others do). Anyway, thank you for pointing this out.

There is a fatal error in this program that has screwed me twice! Last night I installed the most recent build. I turned it, and it tells me that reauthentication is required to wake my computer from sleep. Okay. I reauthenticate. It's done. Then I happened to leave the program running while I ran some cleanup procedures such as repairing permissions, which restarted my computer. Low and behold, when my computer restarted, as I was already in bed, the thing lost it's reauthentication, and didn't wake me up. Now I'm awake 3 hours after I should've been. What's up with this?

This program would be much better if it would actually allow me to LOG in and do what it's main function purports I can: chat.

But alas I cannot, for it simply cycles between attempting to log me in and bringing me to the log in window ones more.

I'll use Adium for now... as I always have...

The problem with this plugin is that it attempts to imitate the Outlook 2003 three vertical pane interface, but fails. Why does it fail? Because it doesn't change anything except for moving the preview pane from the bottom to the right. Why is this failure? Because now all of your message info, such as names, flags, dates, attachments, and long subject lines, are compressed into half the space. Entourage and Outlook 2003 solve this by rearranging how the email list displays the who, where, what, and when of the list to fit more smoothly into a narrower space; this does not. That is why it is flawed, just like Thunderbird's implementation of three vertical pane view.

I don't understand the purpose of this. Is it too difficult to launch iPhoto? Perhaps we should convert all applications to run in Dashboard, such as Word, Safari, Chat, email, whatever, and then we can kiss our desktop goodbuy and run in a java environment, and be slower at it. :(

He's both right and wrong.

He's wrong in assuming that they're theives for doing this: as you said, his previous version is no less functional than it used to be before this upgrade. However, this is not a new version, it is simply an update for the exact same product, and thus it really shouldn't be paid for; I always assume that x.X updates are to be free, because they are simply filling in the gaps and wholes the original release was missing or bugging, which is always the developers fault; hence, they should be free.

But as I said firstly: it is not theft; they are not stealing anything from you against your will.

Actually, this is akin to moderating the conversation of two people chatting at home and cursing and swearing along the way. GameRanger is no different; if two people are having a private chat that involves some blunt language, and no one else is CAN view what they say except snoopy moderators, banning them is completely illegitimate.

Not that it matters at this point, but allow me to suggest a different icon: a representation of Apple's Universal Binary Logo with the ying and yang separated by a small margin--or something akin to that.

Also, what are the chances that it will render useless the programs it is supposed to work on?

iPhoto 6 is lacking in some very essential elements. Instead of adding glits and glamour that does not seriously alter the application's usability (to the better!), the program needs some REAL features that will help users organize their photography. Let me suggest two, that I borrow from Aperture's feature set:

- non-destructive editing that DOES NOT create a wholly new image file containing the changes, but simply applies rules to the original file (saving disk space)

- better keyword tagging: faster input, and possibly more fields (at least Name, Location, and Event). A keyword, IMHO, is not adequate for all the names and locations and events I have, especially considering the current (inefficient) method of inputing them (checking boxes!).

So I beg Apple and its product developers, please allow for at least these two features. They would not steal much of the "pro" from Aperture, for it would still remain superior and feature-rich, but it would sure do a whole lot to add more usefulness to iPhoto--at least much more utility than calendars, photocasting, and all the other superficial elements you've added this time around (except fullscreen editing).

Thanks

Cut about 8 megabytes off of iTunes. 59 to 51MB. It works--and so does iTunes--so far.

I'd like to add something. Instead of one global bandwidth and peer settings that you offer in preferences, it would be logical to follow this with implementing a bandwidth setting and peer selection on an individual torrent basis

Thanks

THANK YOU!

Since I ventured to try this app earlier today, I have deleted both Tomato Torrent and Transmission. Bits has allowed me to finally download files that were sitting idly or with errors on those previous apps for well over a week. Bits on Wheels is now my exclusive bittorrent client; it's fast, it's stable, it's OS native, and it looks nice. Thanks.

One suggestion though: change the image you use for the "screenshot"--it's deceiving. I've previously been dissuaded from trying this app because I was inaccurately led to believe it was some stupid 3D bittorent client that is all about style and not substance. Boy was I wrong, but I now wish that the screenshot was of the actual business end of the app, not just one of its many features.

This program is a piece of crap: after rendering a film for 6 hours on my 1.25ghz powerbook, the program crashes on me JUST BEFORE IT HAS FINISHED--obviously none of the rendered files were saved (why not?) and I had to start the process all over again--far too late to give it to my aunt who was departing to Europe. What a unreliable piece of work.

It's very nice because it's free, but it has it's faults. Firstly, what's the point of being able to choose the date and such if the function doesn't work correctly at any given date?

I tried to project the Greek skyline of August 3rd, 431BC, at 5:22 PM--and not only does it fail to show me the eclipse that took place at that moment, but it also screwed up at displaying the correct time (It was night at 12:00 hours!), but I also had an awful time of trying to actually dial up that specific date. Hmm. This program _is_ still in its infancy.

I have to say that you're wrong about the thumbnail resolutions. Version 3 creates one size thumbnails at 320 by 320 maximum, and any subsequent change in the size menu only relates to how they are displayed, not to how they are stored. They are always stored in the 320 resolution.

The previous version allowed you to pick a resolution and save the thumbnail in the specified resolution, allowing you to save space if you are conservative about its usage.

Give it a try. Change the resolution to 120 by 120, rebuild the thumbnail, and change resolution to 320by320 without rebuilding, and you will notice it is full sized.

I may be mistaken, but version 3 may have destroyed the bundled Batch Annotation Script "Event Date from Capture Date". It no longer works, and I have a feeling it is because the meta field "Event Date" has been changed to "Date Created". Is anyone else aware of this problem or am I the only one? I used this feature for every single photo I catalogued in version 2.6.x, and now it's broken, and I can't revert my catalogue back to 2.6 complaint. Shucks :-(
