MISCHIVO This is a question to the developer. I have Mac OS 10.6 and RPP, for which I haven't yet donated—will Snow Leopard override your multiprocessor utilization limit? From what I'm noticing, the program seems to be using all four of my Mac Pro's cores to make adjustments. (Version 3.9.8)

RPP Without unlock code it will use 2 cores for conversion, with unlock code it will use all available. It may look like it uses more cores without the code though because Mac OS uses them for it's own needs to display progress bars and other UI elements of RPP. This is nice, but doesn't make conversion significantly faster. Sorry for late answer - I've just noticed the question. I'd recommend to ask questions like this in email or in RPP support forum for faster turnaround. (Version 3.9.8)

MISCHIVO Horrible port. The screenshot above is not from the Mac version, and should be removed until the following bugs are fixed: -no dynamic shadows as the game has on Windows (and in the screenshot) What's the deal? When is this going to be fixed? Why was it left out? It's a fairly evident feature and I noticed its absence as soon as I fired up the game. Someone was either incompetent or the game was rushed to market with the flaws (despite numerous delays in delivery). (Version 1.0)

MISCHIVO Of all the complaints that could be made about this game, yours is the least legitimate of all. Fine print is applicable and justifiable in all such cases, whether you're a minor or not. If it's not in the fine print, it has to go somewhere; perhaps half the box should be taken up by "medium print". Is that what you would like? The blame lies in your daughter for not reading the system requirements, not on the manufacturer for not making it of an arbitrarily large enough size for her to pay attention to. (Version 1.0)

MISCHIVO I sure hope you're correct and this is a response to that. The airport connection on my almost 6 year old Powerbook is great, yet on my 1.5 year old Mac Pro--well it's sparse at best, and I blame it on the airport software, not on my router. It seems to lose connection for absolutely no reason, and then regains it. (Version 5.4.2)

MISCHIVO This update has bugs in it. Whereas my network was A-Okay with the previous version, it now has a major issue: it periodically loses connection every dozen minutes or so. It does this by either disconnecting me from my network (even though my network remains in the pull down list) or by simply losing connection to the Internet even if the network connection remains strong. In each case, turning off airport and turning it back on fixes the problem. (Version 5.4.1)

MISCHIVO MSN errors galore. I don't know about anyone else, but ever since version 1.3, MSN has been causing me miniature headaches every time I login/start up the program. It keeps telling me I also receive "Buddy list synchronization" issues. I tried to add someone I deleted a few months back, and the contact exists on the local list but not on the MSN server list. Whether I click "no" or "yes" for the sync option, the program seems lack a reaction. Selecting yes doesn't actually synchronize the contact to the server. Does the Adium team plan on addressing this at all, or is this an error with MSN's servers? (Version 1.3.2)

LENSOVET As Lpod correctly pointed out, all the pop-up notifications can be changed and turned off in the Growl prefpane – just click on the Applications tab, then choose FMenu from the top list, and uncheck the notifications you don't want to receive. Since the app is designed to give updates near-instantly, they are broken up to prevent facebook from blocking your account. If you want more rare updates, just set the interval in the prefs to some really high number (i.e. 6000 seconds) and use the "Force update now" menu item to refresh the data. (Version 1.7)

MISCHIVO This program seems to have a lot of great features, however, it's user interface is both ugly, buggy, and not up to par with EVEN the standards of Windows in terms of ease of use and logic. After writing the title of the book, after pressing tab, the text input should automatically go to the next field, being author; what it does is it goes to the author field, and then immediately jumps into the main writing area. ... C'mon! Another major problem is that if you don't like the font settings, changing them 1) requires a program restart, and 2) changes the font of ENTIRE USER INTERFACE! What on earth is the point of that? I honestly feel this application has great things going for it--would have great things going for it--but the developer needs to realize that Mac users don't put up with such sub-standard ports of badly interfaced Windows programs. Money needs to be spent on Mac-ification of this program, and many users will buy it ahead of the competition, which isn't really that well established as it is. (Version 3.1r)

ROBBIEHANSON15 First of all, stop repairing your permissions all the time. You don't need to. Read this for more information: http://daringfireball.net/2006/04/repair_permissions_voodoo When you "repair" permissions, you are screwing up the alarm clock program. You see, when you authenticate, you are giving the alarm clock permission to wake your computer from sleep. Then you go and "repair" your permissions, which resets the permissions of the alarm clock. Thus, it doesn't have permission to wake your computer from sleep anymore. You see, it shouldn't be called "repair" permissions, it should be called "reset" permissions. And the program runs blindly, just guessing at what the permissions of everything should be. It certainly doesn't know that you want to allow your alarm clock special permission to wake your computer from sleep. So it just resets everything to default permissions. If you're going to be repairing your permissions all the time for no reason, you will also have to reauthenticate the alarm clock everytime. (Version 2.3.8)

MISCHIVO The problem with this plugin is that it attempts to imitate the Outlook 2003 three vertical pane interface, but fails. Why does it fail? Because it doesn't change anything except for moving the preview pane from the bottom to the right. Why is this failure? Because now all of your message info, such as names, flags, dates, attachments, and long subject lines, are compressed into half the space. Entourage and Outlook 2003 solve this by rearranging how the email list displays the who, where, what, and when of the list to fit more smoothly into a narrower space; this does not. That is why it is flawed, just like Thunderbird's implementation of three vertical pane view. (Version 0.16)

GREGW I'm fairly certain Apple would object, and they'd have a good case in doing so. I consider the chance of damage fairly low. TTF doesn't do the heavy lifting itself. It's just a convenience GUI wrapper around a command-line tool that Apple includes in the stock system installation expressly for this purpose and it doesn't even try to invoke that tool on anything that doesn't appear to the OS to be an executable file. It's probably slightly less likely to do damage than the tools we had during the transition to PPC that did the same kind of thing. (Version 0.4)

Apple iPhoto | Jan 22 2006 |
MISCHIVO iPhoto 6 is lacking in some very essential elements. Instead of adding glits and glamour that does not seriously alter the application's usability (to the better!), the program needs some REAL features that will help users organize their photography. Let me suggest two, that I borrow from Aperture's feature set: - non-destructive editing that DOES NOT create a wholly new image file containing the changes, but simply applies rules to the original file (saving disk space) - better keyword tagging: faster input, and possibly more fields (at least Name, Location, and Event). A keyword, IMHO, is not adequate for all the names and locations and events I have, especially considering the current (inefficient) method of inputing them (checking boxes!). So I beg Apple and its product developers, please allow for at least these two features. They would not steal much of the "pro" from Aperture, for it would still remain superior and feature-rich, but it would sure do a whole lot to add more usefulness to iPhoto--at least much more utility than calendars, photocasting, and all the other superficial elements you've added this time around (except fullscreen editing).

MISCHIVO I have to say that you're wrong about the thumbnail resolutions. Version 3 creates one size thumbnails at 320 by 320 maximum, and any subsequent change in the size menu only relates to how they are displayed, not to how they are stored. They are always stored in the 320 resolution. The previous version allowed you to pick a resolution and save the thumbnail in the specified resolution, allowing you to save space if you are conservative about its usage. Give it a try. Change the resolution to 120 by 120, rebuild the thumbnail, and change resolution to 320by320 without rebuilding, and you will notice it is full sized. (Version 3.0.1)
