I also would be happy with one URL for the whole thing for the regular version. As it is now, though, I've only used Bannerzest a couple of times, because I can create my ad images in another application and add them to Vertical Moon's SWF'n'Slide Pro and link to my heart's content for a lot less than the Pro version of Bannerzest. If I didn't already own SWF'n'Slide Pro, I might consider updating to Bannerzest Pro. It just seems to me that there is not enough additional benefits to Bannerzest Pro to warrant an $80 price differential.

But ... but ... but ...Flock DOES work with 1 Password. Flock is my default browser, and 1Password works with it just like it does with Firefox and Safari.

ImageWell needs a timed screen capture. I use ImageWell all the time and like it a lot, but I still have to fire up another application to get a timed screen capture. Sometimes I need to show a pop-up menu or something that happens only when you mouse over something. I'd like to be able to do that in ImageWell, especially since it's almost always open on my computer.

I have been using SOHO notes for about four months now. I switched from Yojimbo and have never looked back. The Barebones people could take a lesson or two on labels and smart collections, among other things, from Chronos. After demoing, SOHO Notes for almost the full 30 days before purchasing it -- wanted to make sure that is was the right thing to switch from Yojimbo -- I found there were a couple of features which I couldn't live without: Flashnote menu bar tool and QuickNote. I can be in any application and type my shortcut to jot a QuickNote, which I use ALL the time. When I need to find something quickly in my notes, I do another shortcut that opens the FlashNote window, type in a word or two and instantly get a list of related files. I don't have to actually open SOHO notes to do this. I also love being able to scan from within the application, and I don't feel that SOHO Notes is slow, certainly not any more so than Yojimbo was with the same number of documents (about 2,000).

As for tech support. I have contacted them three times for one thing or another, and I used the form they have on their website. I did have to register for an account, but I have received responses from them the same day or the next day, and they have been very helpful. In fact, I was a borderline case for the free upgrade to 7.0, and they were kind enough to upgrade me for free. But, even without that, I have been very pleased with the application AND with the support.

In a nutshell: when I was using Yojimbo, I was always looking around for another similar application, trying everyone that came along. Now that I'm using SOHO Notes, I'm not looking around anymore.

I don't have any download managers on my computer, and it's not the actual download that is the problem. I can't even get that far. It's the page where you download the full version, where you have to enter your email address and your eSellerate Order Number/PayPal Transaction ID. I don't have an eSellerate Order number or a PayPal Transaction ID because I bought it right here at MacUpdate. I was sent an email from the developer with a download code, and when I enter that code, it tells me "Login Failed Account cannot be found. Please verify your email. Also PayPal payment can be in pending state!" I even tried the invoice number from MacUpdate and got the same message. I don't know what other number I'm supposed to put in there, but the ones I have don't work. And still no response from the developer. I'm beginning to feel invisible.

I bought Saft on March 7 on a MacUpdate Promo. Since then, there have been two updates -- which is good -- and I haven't been able to download either of them -- which is bad -- because the download code I was sent by the developer isn't working. Two emails to developer requesting help have garnered no response. I thought I was getting a good deal for $5.99 on the promo, but it's not a good deal if I get nothing for it. I think I'll take my $5.99 back, please, and donate it to the SafariStand people.

Wonderful tool! Works perfectly and is so easy to set up. No instructions required. If you type the same things over and over, like your mailing address, email address, customized sig line in Gmail, thank you note, instructions on how to do something ... this list is probably endless ... then you should use Kissphrase. I use Typinator and I could hardly live without it. Kissphrase doesn't have the bells and whistles that Typinator has, like correcting your typos or entering dates automatically, but it also doesn't have the $20 price tag. I will continue to use Typinator because it is also great, but if you don't have an auto-typer yet, you should try Kissphrase. You can't beat the price (free-donations accepted) and it will save you time with your redundant typing tasks.

I have been using Moneydance for more than 3 years (currently with Leopard on an Intel Mac). I don't begin to use all the bells and whistles, I know that, but for my needs -- keeping track of credit card transactions, checking accounts, savings accounts, etc., and creating end of year reports for income tax purposes -- it has been almost perfect. I had a technical issue one time and I received an email response quickly that solved the problem. Before switching to Moneydance, I had been using Quicken -- buggy and expensive: $70 plus frequent upgrade pricing. I could have bought Moneydance several times over with what I paid for Quicken for upgrades. Once I made the switch, and all files imported perfectly, I have never looked back. They have had fairly regular updates and have yet to charge an upgrade fee. Maybe they are getting ready to do that with this beta, but after more than three years? I sure don't have a problem with that.

I don't understand all the unkind comments about Intego charging a yearly fee for virus protection on a Mac. You pay a yearly fee to Norton, too, if you use it. PC user also pay every year. That is common! Yes, VirusBarrier is more expensive than Norton, but it also scans faster (Macworld review: http://www.macworld.com/article/51438/2006/06/antivirussw.html). It's a matter of personal preference. It doesn't make Intego bad people or VirusBarrier bad software.

As for VirusBarrier not finding any viruses on a computer, I have indeed had VirusBarrier "eradicate" a couple of viruses. Sure, they were few and far between, but they were there. And, as for or Mac users not needing to use anti-virus software, I have never had my house burn down either, but I continue to pay yearly for my homeowner insurance and I'll bet most of you do, too.

As for a review on this application, I have used it for about two years and it has worked flawlessly in the background, updating when it needs to, finding a couple of viruses, and I have had good experiences with Intego customer support. A lower price would be all that I could ask for.

There most definitely is an uninstall feature in version 1.8.8, and it's still in there in 1.8.9. When you open the .dmg to install, there is also an option for uninstall. I find that is where most applications have the uninstall option.

I guess this application is now "gone with the wind." It hasn't worked for me since I upgraded to Leopard, won't even open, and I was hoping the developer was working on an update. I guess that's not happening, though, since the website no longer exists. Too bad, because this was a useful application for me.

This application is a wonderful little nag. I've been using it for a couple of months and it's a snap to set up. It doesn't have tons of bells and whistles, but I have those bells and whistles in other reminder applications -- and I don't use them! With MenuMinder I can quickly create reminders on the fly right from the menu bar, and that's exactly what I want. If I need something "deeper," I can use iCal. With MenuMinder I can get a pop-up window, an email or a text message, and that is very handy for traveling. The author is responsive and quick to address feature requests. The only features I could ask for at this point are some keyboard shortcuts -- I tried adding my own, but they didn't work -- and to have the "OK" button already highlighted/selected so that I can just tab and arrow through the date and hit return. Then I would really be flying!

This is a fabulous tool! I just did a demo quiz, uploaded it to my own server and it is FUN! You definitely could use it for surveys, and I also plan to use it for some fun Rotary Club quizzes, to see if the members know the history of their own club. And that's just the beginning! Maybe the office football pool. I don't know if that's legal, but it would work.

Hey, don't say this is "ridiculous" just because it may not be your cup of tea! My son almost always has a movie running on his computer when he's doing his work, and he thinks this is a great idea. Some people listen to music while they work; some people listen to movies. To each his own, right?

What I'd like to know is if this "fantastic" Version 2.0 is going to be a paid update. I'm sure it probably will be, and will those of us who have been stagnating here with Version 1.X for the past 3-4 years get a big discount? I'm not sure I even care at this point. I hope Version 2.0 is fantastic enough to carry the application for another four years with hardly any updates. It may be great, but the pattern that the author has set for updating (not updating) tells me to steer clear and not give them any more of my $$$.

I saw Don McAllister's screencast on this, too, and it does look like a "wonder how I lived without it application," but I wonder if any one of you young whippersnappers knows why it's called Hazel. Maybe from the TV show Hazel in the early 60's starring Shirley Booth? Yes, I have a trivial mind. I could use Hazel for my brain.

I have a large website that uses WebYep (a great compact CMS, by the way), and it is edited by dozens of people all over the local area. I create feeds for these pages, but I never know when the pages have been updated -- until now. I downloaded Watcher84 and a couple of other similar applications today and tried them all. Watcher84 is so simple to use and worked perfectly on my Intel iMac with 10.4.10. I have set my iCal to open it twice a day to check for updates and it has made my life a LOT easier already. I was spending a lot more than $12.49 worth of my time checking pages or asking people to email me when they'd done updates -- which they didn't do. The only thing I'd like to see (so far) in this app is the option to clear the checkboxes in front of the updated pages without having to open the page(s), and that is because when I make a master change on the site and it affects all the pages, I don't want to have to open the entire site to clear the boxes. Well, I guess there is one more thing: it would be nice to have folders so you could group your sites or pages instead of having one loooong list. Since you can just select open updated pages, though, I suppose that's purely for aesthetic purposes.

I'm not sure that I really NEED this, but for half-price, I will buy it, and for 2 reasons (besides half-price): 1) it is probably one of those applications you don't know how badly you need it until you start using it; and 2) I bought PulpMotion when it was on the Promo and it is great. It is frequently updated with more cool things and we have had more fun with it, making it more than worth the half price I paid for that one! This is a very good company, in my opinion, so it makes me want to support them and buy more from them, so they will keep up the very good work.

I demoed this and am still thinking about a good use for it, but I love the name. I laughed out loud when I first saw it. And the logo is great. I know that doesn't say anything about the application, but I've been know to buy a book just for the cover. Still thinking.

My daughter loves this game and she's only been using the demo. I couldn't bring myself to pay $35 for yet another game. But, this one is pretty neat, and the graphics are excellent. It reminds me of A Bug's Life, which we all love. For $14.95, I do believe it's time to let her move forward and actually play the whole game!

I have been using Delicious Library for more than two years now and it is rarely updated and has always been slooooow. When I demoed it, it wasn't slow. Of course not! When you have only 10 books in the database, or whatever number you put in for demo purposes, sure, it's fast. So I bought it and started entering my 2500+ books. The iSight scan came in very handy for that, but as I got more and more books into the database it just bogged down. It's horrible. I really hate even opening the software. When I want to quit, I go and find something else to do while it takes a looooong time to close out.

The only reason I still use it is because it ties in with Amazon.com's used book prices (current value), and I can update my database to see what books are selling for higher prices and list mine. That is the ONLY reason I keep using this maddening application. Plus, it conflicts with Zooom and I have to disable Zooom every time I want to use DL. No other app has a problem with Zooom.

I have tried and will continue to try other applications for this kind of thing, but the Amazon.com feature is not always available, or if it is, it only gets the info when you first load it and you can't refresh it after the fact, and those prices are changing all the time. The app that I liked the best and that came closest to doing what DL did was Book Database X, and the author was really responsive to updates and changes. It hasn't been updated in a while. Maybe the author needs a prod.

gderringer1: too funny! I just bought my first AppleCare, and only because I bought a 24" iMac and was afraid I would knock it off the table. I don't even know if that's covered, but it made me "feel" better. I've been running Mac since 1983 and haven't had a need for any extra warranties yet.

I feel like Dick Clark counting down to midnight at Times Square. I was so tickled to get Intaglio that I wasn't even LOOKING at TechTool. This is FUN!!

Holy cow! I just loaded SRS iWOW, which was NOT a selling point for me. My iTunes never sounded so good! I've got small, semi-crappy speakers and a little messin' with SRS iWOW had my kids going, "Whoa!" In fact, when I turned off SRS iWOW just to compare, I got glares from everyone. I tried to create the same sound with the Equalizer in iTunes and could not do it. You just don't know what treasures you are getting! I'm only sorry I waited till today to buy the bundle!

I love my MacUpdate membership. I have lots and lots of applications on my computer, and not all of them have RSS feeds to notify of updates. Nor do they automatically update in the app when you open it. Plus, I only use some of these apps 2 or 3 times a year, and I want to make sure I have the latest version. If a company goes to a paid update, I'd like to know that I at least had the latest version before that, in case I don't want the paid update.

I have my watch list set up in MacUpdate and they tell me every time one of my applications is updated. Also, it’s so easy to register your products with a MacUpdate account, and you can see your order history [gulp ... I try not to look at that very often]. You can add other applications to your watch list, too, ones you are interested in but don’t want to buy right now. Within six months, maybe that company will do some fantastic things with the app and you will want it then. MacUpdate will let you know every time the app is updated so you can have a look at how they are progressing.

I know you can do the same thing with Versiontracker, but it’s more money, and Versiontracker’s search is not nearly as good as the search on MacUpdate. Since I found MacUpdate, I haven’t been back to Versiontracker.

I just wish I knew more than 2 other Mac owners to send invites to.

Wow. Neat app. It's not just for family albums or genealogy. You could use it for clubs with members and a directory of info on them, high school reunion websites. My mind is racing with possibilities. I saw a MacBreak interview with John Fox and he said there was also a feature to allow you to "send" a photo to someone to get more details and they could edit it and "send" it back. I don't see that mentioned in the features. Whatever! I'm buying it! The only downside I see is the time I will want to spend playing with it when I should be doing other things.

This is absolutely what I need -- if only it would index my CDs. Am I missing something? The app is working because I can index my external drives, but when I put in a CD and create a new index, it adds the CD image, but does not list the songs. Anybody else? I have tons of compilations CDs (The Greatest Hits of the 70s, for example -- I know, I know, practically an oxymoron), and my kids are always asking me if I have such-and-such on CD. If I don't have it, they buy it from iTunes. I'm sure I could have paid for this software several times over with what we've spent at iTunes that I already had on CD, but other than manually creating a DB of my songs, which I actually started to do one day when I'd lost my mind, I didn't see any other options. Now I am trying this, but I can't get it to work for me. It says it's for Intel Macs, so that can't be the problem. It's not that involved, so why can't I get my CDs indexed?

I bought Macaroni for $12.00 to do the things that TCC does, and it works fine in the background, no problems. But, Macaroni doesn't include Clam AV, which I think is well worth this promo price of $4.99. Considering what I am paying Intego for their service, this is a drop in the bucket. I tried doing Clam Av myself, but I kept getting error messages about it being out of date and I could never figure out how to update it! I guess it's goodbye to Macaroni and Intego and hello to Tiger Cache Cleaner. For $4.99, I don't see how I can NOT buy it.

I wish I had the $25.00 I just spent to upgrade Rapidweaver and the $10.00 I just spent to upgrade the Blocks plugin and the $18.00 I just spent for RWMultitool and the $45.00 I spent on three RW themes just so I could break out of the cookie-cutter designs that are included with RW. Not to mention the money I spent buying them all in the first place. There is more, but I hurts me to talk about it. I could have spent $40 on Shutterbug and been much better off.

I usually use Dreamweaver, but I wanted to try something new, have more options for quick and dirty sites. I've had Rapidweaver for a while and used it very little. I've spent the last three days really digging in and creating a couple of sites and trying almost every aspect of it. I tried to rebuild a site I already had created on Dreamweaver to see if I could possibly use RW in its place. Finally, yesterday afternoon, I quit RW and resorted to Dreamweaver.

This morning, I got the MacUpdate email saying Shutterbug had been updated and I dutifully downloaded it again, since it was on my Watch List and I had downloaded it a couple of months ago, played with it for about 30 minutes and that was that. This time, I put far more time into it and I am floored. I am also mad as hell at myself for not working more with it sooner -- live and learn. It is so EASY to change EVERYTHING in the themes! When I think of the time I spent changing the CSS files and the image files in RW to make the theme more like what I wanted ... please, somebody shoot me now.

ImageWell is built right into Shutterbug -- and I've been using ImageWell as a standalone -- so you can edit your images from within Shutterbug. You can add flash, Quicktime movies, extra HTML ... and it's all so easy. I applied a couple of new themes, just checking them out, making all kinds of changes, then asked it to revert. Shutterbug gave me all kinds of options! Do I want to revert to the first saved version or the autosaved version after I switched to the second theme or the autosave after I switch to the second theme ... how cool is that!

As with anything like this, there is a learning curve, but I can see myself getting done in less than a day what took me three days to do in RW.

I am so sorry that I let the name mislead me. I put off working with it because I thought I don't do that much with photo galleries. Don't make the same costly mistakes I made. Check out Shutterbug -- REALLY check it out.

After spending the day trying out other podcasting apps at varying price levels, I feel confident that Podcast Maker is going to do what I need at the best price -- well, especially since it’s on the MacUpdate Promo! I know I could do this on my own -- compile my items and create a podcast -- step by step, but gee -- I don’t WANT TO!! And for this price and this quality of software, there is no reason to. Especially for someone new to this like I am, I am glad to buy Podcast Maker. I could pay more for Ubercaster, but I don’t think it’s worth 4 times the price (regularly) and more than that considering today’s promo. There is a learning curve for an igno like me, but that’s true for any of these apps. I’m definitely getting a great bargain here.

I've been using this all day because it was on the promo and I wanted to see if I "couldn't live without it." Now I know I can't. I say to myself that I don't think I would pay $18.00 for it, but when I'm sitting here cleaning up crap from forwarded emails and weirdly typed documents, I might be whistling a different tune. Fortunately, I don't have to think about $18.00, because I'm getting it on the promo for $9.95. It is WELL worth that amount! It works so well that at first I was looking for what I was supposed to "do." All I had to "do" was copy the offending text!

I use this all the time! This little widget installs and works instantly, turning the developer's mode off and on so you can drag widgets out of the Dashboard and onto your desktop.

I frequently want a widget on my desktop instead of having to go back and forth to the Dashboard. For example, Sing That iTunes. I want to play my iTunes and have Sing That iTunes add lyrics to my database in the background, but it can't do that if I'm working on the computer and the Dashboard is not active. I use DevMode to drag Sing That iTunes to my desktop and I'm getting lyrics all afternoon! when I'm done playing music, I just drag the Sing That iTunes widget back to the Dashboard.

A simple little widget that provides quick and dirty photo photo editing. The 8 effects are good, especially Pushpin, Tape and Reflection. It would be great to see some more effects added. The watermark is nice, too, as are resizing, cropping. It would be nice if you could toggle the color adjustment before you save or copy to clipboard, because the color adjustment may not be what you want in the end result, but for free? I'm not complaining.

I have other software to do this kind of thing, but this is a snap to use and it's sitting right there waiting for you. I use the DevMode widget (http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/18425) so that I can take PhotoDrop off when I want to use it and not have to go to the Dashboard. Then I put it back on the Dashboard when I'm done. Nice!

I don't think the author of this software is encouraging "theft." He's just pointing out that instead of making a mixtape from your CDs, you can just get the songs off your iPod. According to the Audio Home Recording Act (AHRA): private, noncommercial copies by consumers using "digital audio recording devices" are explicitly protected by §1008. Noncommercial is defined as “not for direct or indirect commercial advantage,” offering examples such as making copies for a family member, or copies for use in a car or portable tape player. Since the law was written in 1992, before iPods, I think that would apply to iPods now.

I'm sure it's possible to use this app illegally, just like with Mac the Ripper; but as Jiminy Cricket said, "Let your conscience be your guide."

Hilarious! I've already had $10.95 worth of fun out of this program already, in just one day! If I never used it again, it would be worth it, but I definitely see uses for it. I hope I can add some of my own stuff, e.g., backgrounds, working with voices. I think you should buy it and set up a reminder on your computer to tell you it's there so you can go in and use it for something. That's the way a lot of software is. You just have to remember you have it. This is definitely worth the promo price. Also, it says PPC, but I have a brand new iMac Intel and it works just fine.

For me, this is a very useful app. Its kind of like shoving all the things I need to do or pay attention to into a folder until I have the time to look at them. I can drag and drop URLs, snippets of text, heck -- entire PAGES of text -- email addresses. I can manually type in items like to do lists. It also keeps your history of what youve copied. You can set how many of these clipboard copies to keep. Ive set the preferences so that I simply mouse over the menu bar icon and Trapper Keeper opens. A quick tap of the spacebar shows me all my items, or I can do a search by typing in a word, and it searches as you type, just like Spotlight, very fast. The items you have intentionally dragged in or entered have a white background. The recorded copy history items have a blue background, recently made a darker blue, which really helped to distinguish between the two. Thats good for when you are tidying up.

When I first started the demo, I forced myself to use it because it was the MacUpdate Promo that day and I had one day to decide if I liked it. After about 2 hours, I realized I really liked it because it was very, very handy.

On the downside, Im not sure about the $18.00 price. The MacUpdate Promo price was about $10.00 and its well worth that. Maybe a couple more bells and whistles would justify the $18.00. For example, double-clicking a URL and being taken to that page in your browser; same for email addresses. Possibly adding your own label colors to different items.

Yes, just hit the spacebar with your cursor in the search field, or an asterisk. That will show all your entries. I do think it would be nice (more obvious) if there was a little icon on that blue bar that you could click to show the entries. Also, the HELP doesn't mention anything about dragging things, like text, URLs, etc., but you can. Very convenient for storing quick and dirty stuff. Just drag it onto the lightning bolt.

The HELP is accessed through the preferences, but you can only access the preferences by typing something, even if it's just space, in the search field. That brings up the whole shebang, and the preferences switch is 3rd from the left. It's not obvious, but once you know it's there. You can also do a cmd , for quick keys to the prefences. That one works for me. Also, it only LOOKS like it's replacing your item, because it's showing that one line. Kind of confusing, but if you put in an item and return, if the item is not already there, it adds it. It really does. Put a space in the search area and all the things you think have been replaced will show up.

Been using this for about 30 minutes now, throwing everything into and searching. Works great and I could definitely see myself using it for $9.99. I'm not so sure about $18.00, but maybe once I was really tied to it. That's the great thing about MU Promo, though! One thing: the quick keys to paste what you've selected - is that a capital "I" or a lowercase "l"? I can't tell because neither one works for me. The only way to paste is to use the menu arrow in the app to paste.

The Techspansions website says this in the menu tabs about VisualHub:

Learn It, See It, Try It, Buy It

Well, I skipped right over Learn It -- thats how easy this software is. First and foremost, I was looking for something to convert .mov files to .swf. I wanted it to be easy and fast. I dont want to have to be an expert in this area to try to work with the software. Even with the two minute demo, I knew in about, well, two minutes that I was buying this software. The time it would take me to look for, download, and demo other apps, even if they are free -- and possibly find out they dont do what I want -- is worth the $23.32 price. VisualHub did exactly what I wanted it to do right out of the box with no brainstrain on my part. I havent even used the other features yet, but they are gravy to me.
