MDMUNOZ  Just to be clear, the MacHeist licenses were fixed. Just send them an email with a screenshot of your loot and a copy+paste of the registration info on the loot page and they will add you to the database.

MDMUNOZ  I'm not an expert on the subject, but for those willing to do some research of their own, The New England Journal of Medicine says the Shettles method is bunk:

"for practical purposes, the timing of sexual intercourse in relation to ovulation has no influence on the sex of the baby."

MDMUNOZ  Look at the screenshot. There is an "Avoid Pregnancy" radio button.

MDMUNOZ  Actually, it has several settings, one of which is birth control.

It's in the screenshot and on the website. I don't understand how you could have possibly missed it.

MDMUNOZ  Does anyone else find the claim of determining the gender of the child based on the time of the month a little ridiculous?

Also, the rhythm method is a terrible form of birth control.

MACUPDATE ADMIN  Yes, there's a name for people who use the rhythm method, they call them "parents". (Old joke)

MIKAELF  The comment about birth control is just stupid as the program is developed with the intention of HELPING with pregnancy.

AREITOSOFT  The gender selection calculation is based on the Shettles Method which is based on the premise that sperm carrying the X and Y chromosomes have different characteristics and that you can influence the reproductive environment to favor one or the other.

It is the sperm that fertilizes the egg that will determine the sex of your baby. Some sperm carry the X-chromosome and some sperm carry the Y-chromosome. If an X-chromosome-carrying sperm fertilizes the egg, the baby will be a girl. If a Y-chromosome-carrying sperm fertilizes the egg, the baby will be a boy.

The idea behind the Shettles Method of sex selection is based on the premise that the X and Y chromosome carrying sperm have different characteristics and that under different circumstances either X- or Y-chromosome-carrying sperm will be more likely to fertilize the egg.

The Y-chromosome-carrying sperm are said to:

* be faster and smaller than the X-chromosome carrying sperm.

* die faster than the X-chromosome-carrying sperm.

The X-chromosome-carrying sperm are said to:

* be slower than the Y-chromosome carrying sperm.

* be better able to withstand the acidic cervical environment before fertile cervical fluid is produced.

MDMUNOZ  Of course, I had no business trying to install this in the first place, since it doesn't work on intel, but once I did, my font caches were immediately corrupted.

MDMUNOZ  Works as advertised, unbeatable price, great developer.

If you uninstall a lot of apps (and you are checking MacUpdate, so you probably do), this beats searching spotlight over and over by a mile.

Try putting it in the Finder sidebar. Cmd+shift+A to the Applications folder, drag-and-drop within the same Finder window. Couldn't be any easier.

MDMUNOZ  Are you part of the RIAA?

Just kidding.

A very promising application. Has exactly what you need and nothing you don't. It would be nice to see a more standardized user interface (resizable window, menus/key shortcuts) and a more responsive launch time.

MDMUNOZ  Great app. I always wanted a simple feed reader that just opened the page instead of making me click through short summaries with links. RSS Menu does me one better by showing updates and being accessible from startup, without having to fire up a browser or reader just to check for updates. Great work.

The only problem I've encountered is that podcasts simply open in my browser instead of Quicktime/iTunes. Not that it's a big deal. I just watch the stuff in-browser.

MDMUNOZ  This browser uses very little memory/cpu, and it's extremely fast. I had seen it before and I'm glad there's finally an English version.

Tabs, bookmarks, search bars, and all that fluff are for the weak. If you want a bloated memory-hog with hundreds of features, get Firefox. If you want an efficient browser, this is it.

DNELSON  My program NovoEdit gets terrible reviews, but is more original than this! It has more features, too! I'm creating a web browser. Should I copy the sample code, too?

MDMUNOZ  Using the latest version on 10.4.8, I tried to uninstall Clip Show as a test:

http://www.petermaurer.de/nasi.php?section=clipshow

The application was copied to the trash, but the original item remained in the Applications folder. Also, the preferences property list was not moved (the preferences folder in the trash was empty).

P.S. Thank you for making this software. It is really needed on OS X and the only free alternative that I can find.

REGGIE ASHWORTH  Hi mdmunoz!

This is Reggie the Developer. Thank you for your feedback! You know I just downloaded and installed this app Clip Show and I have to say I didn't have any problems to remove it. I even removed the preference file. I would like to receive an email from you if you're willing so I could figure out why it did not work for you? You can email me from my site which is linked to More Information above. Hope to hear from you and sorry that you had this problem!

Sincerely,

Reggie Ashworth
