Polyphontics | Feb 23 2009 |
MCOYLE Let me start by stating that I'm not a musician, I'm an audio post production engineer mixing TV and radio commercials. I use Polyphontics to create instruments of related sound effects, for example: car pass-bys, dog barks, whooshes. Polyphontics allows me to create banks containing dozens of samples, quickly and easily. In fact, most banks are created by interns with only a little instruction. Another engineer at my company built an amazing acoustic guitar instrument using several samples with varying attacks for each note. I've been using Polyphontics since its creation and the Soundfont 2 format has survived through several sampler upgrades. My work never goes to waste. Two Thumbs Up. (Version 1.7)

CamCamX | Dec 9 2007 |
MCOYLE I was expecting this app to allow me to capture the iSight camera in Final Cut, but I don't see the camera in any of the options. Sooooo... I guesss it doesn't do that. Correct?

MS.BLACK You can use iMovie HD included with your Mac to record a QuickTime, then import it into your FCP sequence. CamCamX allows you to do a live mix in this same way. (Version 1.512)

MCOYLE Ummm... yeah. Is that a problem? :) Sorry. While I did have 1.3 on my drive I was inadvertently still launching the old one.

MCOYLE Bummer. I've been waiting for this update and I can' tget it to launch. It puts up a dialog saying "Index: 78: InternetLocationMAILTO.icns" I cleaned all the caches as the prevous reader suggested, but no luck.

MCOYLE These are very cool. Thanks for making them. My only comment would be to include a READ ME describing the function of each script.

RAYMONDLEWISJONES Thank you very much. A lot of work went into these apps. There are a few more I will release free of charge to anyone who purchases 2.0 New features will include a "Backup" app that will clone your drive when you run it, or at any specified time. http://software.electriceelprod.com/toolbarextras.html This is basically a ReadMe for ToolBar Extras. MCOYLE It's very clear the developer listens to his users. All the suggestions that have been made here have been implemented ASAP. I'm up $600. If only I were so lucky in Vegas.....

MCOYLE Yeah, it's a little slow, but what's your hurry? :-) I'm on an Intel Mac and it says the app is PPC, so maybe that's part of it. My one concern is that while the library is processing, the dock keeps flashing on and off. But hey, it's free and I'm sure the program will only get better with updates. (Version 0.8b)

WidgDock | Mar 22 2007 |
MCOYLE Excellent Widget. I use two copies at once (just duplicate and give it a slightly different name). It lets me group similar apps into one dock. Under Konfabulator 4, I with the Dock icon did something interesting. Actually, I wish individual dock icons could be hidden, but that's not this Widget's problem! (Version 1.6.5)

MCOYLE Great game. Perfect for the train ride to work. I'd like to make two suggestions. On my 17 inch MacBook, the card are really small. Any way you can scale the app up 50%? Is there a way have the shortcuts without having to hold the command key? My thumb is getting a cramp!

BLOCKSOFT Thanks for your comments. It is my intention to make the cards at least twice the size, and better quality in v2.0 of the application, which will be released in a few months. I shall also look into allowing play by pressing letters without the Apple key. Bear in mind that a lot of the functions can be accessed using the return key. (Version 1.7)

gps2geX | May 16 2006 |
MCOYLE No criticism intended! I just wanted to let people know how to get the app working. in fact, I owe you 'big time'. I took the train into work this morning and tracked my progress with your app, Google Earth, and a bluetooth GPS. The cute girl who sat next to me was VERY impressed. :-)

MCOYLE Ok... this works, but there's no documentation so it took me a few minutes to figure it out. You must download BOTH gpsdX and gps2geX. The first is the GPS data server that interfaces with the Google utility (gps2geX). After installing gpsdX launch the new app in the Applicaton folder and configure it for your GPS hardware port. Then launch gps2geX and tell it to open the KZM file. Once Google Earth launches, notice the new sidebar GPS and check its box to activate it.

ROBINHOOD Fair call, Matthew... and thanks for writing the walkthrough for other visitors! Since both of these utilities came from build-from-source-for-command-line-nerds-only projects, I think I fell into the trap of thinking "it's a GUI, so it doesn't need documentation". Of course you're right - it should have some documentation, and I'll work on that. MU's listings don't make the "requirements" section very obvious - I have listed gpsdX there (although if someone happens to have gpsd already installed, that will do). Anyhow, thanks for the review - I'll see what I can do about documentation over the next week or so! (Version 1.1)

STIVERT More of a question than a comment: - what .kmz file are you talking about?

gps2geX | Jan 21 2009 |
I'm having some trouble downloading gps2gex 1.6. Does anyone know where I can get it? Or maybe send it to my email? I've got the gps2gex 1.5, but I can't get it to work. I have followed all the instructions i could find in different forums etc. But still it says "No GPS information received - waiting...." Thanks in advance! (Version 1.6)

MCOYLE Jonathan, outstanding little app you've created! I feel bad for you. Why? Because Apple will surely rip this idea off in the next version of iTunes and give you absolutely no credit. ;-) I was just telling someone that iTunes needs a jukebox-like interface for parties. This would allow guests to walk up to a screen with a mouse and page through the album artwork, selecting songs they wish to hear and having them added to a queue. I hope you continue to expand the program and interface and consider making this a goal. I'm sure it would be extremely popular!

PlugAdmin | Jan 18 2006 |
MCOYLE Nice idea, but there are still a few cosmetic problems. The popup that lets you select a set keeps appearing over the list of plugins. Some of the menu items display extra characters "&". And for RTAS, is it your choice that the default Digi plugins are ignored? I'd like the option to turn those on/off too.

MCOYLE Excellent utility! The ability to show tables and cells is great, as is the ability to how info on images. Within an hour of using this I had cleaned up a couple dozen small errors in my site.
