MATHEW  Same with me. 1.3.8b is useless. Going back to previous version.

MATHEW  All your points are fair. I think the developer himself would disagree with you, but for users (like me) there's been virtually no significant development for at least 2 years. This may change in the future, but as you note other software products are currently more attractive.

MATHEW  I'm not sure the developer's comments really hold water. The comments seem way over the top. Yes, IF the software lasts 10 years, then $6 a year is a great price. But why would anyone trust that a brand new app would actually last 2 years, much less 10? This is, apparently, a brand new company without any identifying info at their website about the developers and without any track record. Thus "trust me" doesn't hold water at this point.

I hope the app grows and does well. I'm not really commenting on the app itself (though it seems kind of clunky right now), but much more towards the argument regarding pricing the developer was trying to make. Put in another perspective, if OmniGroup did the same thing, then I'd buy right away! But that's because OmniGroup has a track record of excellence, and thus I'd have concrete reasons to believe they could and would deliver on their promise.

MATHEW  I've just started using this with the 0.8.4 version. All I can say, after a few hours, is "Wow." Very nicely implemented and designed.

If there are annoyances or flaws I haven't noticed them yet. This is really a great organizational tool.

Tag Folders

MATHEW  It's working now. Who knows what was going on before. Okay, now that it's working I'm looking forward to playing around with this app. Seems very useful!

Tag Folders
Jul 24 2008

MATHEW  I've tried this out for 15 minutes. It seems to work pretty easily in terms of creating Smart folders. But it does not actually seem to tag new files. I created 2 new tag folders, then would drag a file onto it. But that file would not get tagged. (The tag folder itself DID contain other items with the tagging criteria--items that had been tagged in some other application at another time.)

I like the idea of this product, but the automatic tagging doesn't seem to be working. I'm using 10.5.4

Tag Folders

SESQUIPEDALIAN  Do the tags appear in the Spotlight comments section of the Info window of the file?

During testing I noticed that occasionally files on the Desktop would have the tag applied to their Spotlight comments, but it would take a few minutes for the change to be reflected in the Spotlight database, and thus for the file to show up in the Tag Folder's Smart Folder. This always cleared itself up after a few minutes on the occasions it happened. If you want an immediate fix, temporarily moving the file into another folder typically does the job.
