ConceptDraw MINDMAP
May 31 2008

MARKG5  But the Mind maps produced *are* hideous! There is no option for a proper "Buzan-style" mindmap ... it should really be called ConceptDraw Spider Diagram! And as for the startup time! I'm trialling this and the others in the Conceptdraw range and I thought my MacBook Pro had hung on me!

Sorry. Not at this price (or even the special offer price they keep offering!)

MARKG5  I have been hit for VAT (UK tax) on almost every purchase I have made in recent years! Paypal is adding this automatically as far as I know for European purchasers

RapidWeaver
Aug 2 2007

MARKG5  Although out of the box RW is basic, once you get a few plugins it really takes off! For instance the "place where you want it" functionality can be done using "Blocks" from Yourhead software.

I didn't like it at first, having cut my teeth on Dreamweaver. However as I used a couple of templates in DW and it was only as a hobby the change to Rapidweaver was welcome (specially as I got it through Macheist or summat!)

If it's not for you, OK. But don't write it off until you have tried a few additions to speed it along

MARKG5  I keep looking at this ... and then backing off! As a semi-poweruser I should be into this sort of thing - Merlin Mann uses it! I have the grey desktop with the trashcan and nothing else. I have Quicksilver running constantly.

Maybe at this price I can no longer say "no"

Let me think

MARKG5  It all works. did almost straight away

It looks like there was a problem with the way it knows if the email addy is registered - and it works fine. Yeah, the dev has bad press, but I have three registered pieces of software from Dave Watanabe and they mostly work without a hitch

MARKG5  I'm also getting the registration doesn't stick problem. I mistakenly made the mistake of trashing and reinstalling, and now I can't add my usual feeds!

Fortunately when I got my macbook pro last week I transferred all information via the Migration Assistant so I do have a temporary solution

I emailed the Dev, and am now waiting for a fix. If I can't use Newsfire I will have to use my mac for work ... and I should have bought a PC if that's all I wanted to do!!!!!

PSEUDO TASUKI  Ha! Good luck getting a response. I never heard back from the developer about my issue with NewsFire and I get the feeling that nobody else ever does, either.

DARRINSDEN  my problem was that it had worked without a hitch for a year. until this last version, then it became unregistered and wasnt ever able to get it working again.

I wasnt going to buy it again just to fix this issue, since who really knows if it would. As i havent heard back from the dev, i ended up switching to vienna.

Safari Enhancer
Jan 11 2004

ANONYMOUS  Have you tried this:

Make sure you have the latest version of Safari Enhancer, dump Safari Enhancer preferences (com.gordonbyrnes.SafariEnhancer.plist) in user prefs folder, and reinstall Safari 1.0

(from the web site - I used this on an earlier version and now "the metal is gone"!)
