PhotoLine | Apr 20 2009 |
MAGOSILVAN I must apologize for my former appreciation: PhotoLine is not a sort of halfway between Photoshop and Pixelmator, it has more to say, but it isn't surely mac friendly. It is full of options but the Help is poor or referring to not corresponding screenshots from Windows version. (Version 15.05)

(Version 2.2.3)

Smoovee | Mar 14 2009 |
MAGOSILVAN I compared a file "stabilized" by Smoove (whose price is a mistery) with the same file really stabilized with piStabilize plugin for iMovie (pre '08) and iStabilize (standalone app). Smoove is surely faster and simpler to use... but results are clearly worse. The only better feature is to leave unaltered frame size, but if you may accept a minor magnification of the clip, set Zoom to Full and go with piStebilize. (Version 1.0)

ANONYMOUS Thanks for your review. Video stabilization products are sometimes really non intuitive. We have put a lot of emphasis on the ease of use. We are glad you liked this aspect of Smoovee ! We have made extensive tests with very jittery footage. Competing software typically zoom too much into the image and "get out" of the frame. With Smoovee, we have chosen another approach where the selected portion of the image always stays entirely within the bounds of the input video. The zoom factor is recalculated for every shot to lose as little as possible of the original. This gives excellent results even on very jittery shots. Your points are well taken though, and we are working already on our next release ! (Version 1.0)

MAGOSILVAN Interesting, ambitious graphic app. A sort of halfway between Photoshop and Pixelmator, but not yet mature: it misses a History panel and vectorial instruments are not yet easy to use. Basis are good and if the developer perfects its work, I think it can begin a real competitor at least of Photoshop Elements (which, for now, I'll continue to use). (Version 15.01)

FinderPop | Feb 13 2009 |
MAGOSILVAN If you have a wide screen or few menu items it's wonderful! Only two little problems: putting apps in the folder "FinderPop Items" they are transfered there and you see only them, no more "FinderPop Items". - search the folder "FinderPop Items" (it's in yourname/Library) - put the alias inside the original Now clicking in menu bar you'll find both what you inserted and "FinderPop Items" and you can easily continue adding items. Since in "Processes" FP shows active apps, now you may even deactivate the Dock and gain space on screen! If you like a clean desktop, I suggest to use in combination with Camouflage. MAGOSILVAN I use Safari every day on every web sites, with Leopard and Tiger, on PPC and Intel and I have no problem. It's always faster then other Browsers, and easy to use. Only a minimum number of pages are some difficulties, but often those pages are difficult for others too. (Version 3.2.1)

THE GRAPHIC MAC Wait, you mean the image is grainy, or has a watermark? I certainly hope it just has a watermark, because if the image is blurry/grainy it pretty much makes the demo worthless. How can you judge an app when you can't see the actual results? (Version 1.0.1)

MAGOSILVAN Years ago, I realized some files to better illustrate electric fields and potentials via 3D surfaces. Now I have no more a running Mathematica to see them, but I can utilize this wonderful free player to make them revive! The code may be viewed (not modified) clicking the brackets on the right side. It is also possible to have access to a big free library of interactive fully functional scientific demo projects.

Psst | Dec 9 2008 |
MAGOSILVAN I downloaded v.2.1.1 for my wife's new iMac. I setted near to zero the volume and tried to reboot without submitting an answer to developer's question. The system told me Psst prevented to relaunch. I tried to quit it, but it refused. I was forced to a forced quit. So I relaunced and I answered it didn't work. Then I CLOSED the submitting window and, surprise, relauncing again I discovered it works. After many attempts I can confirm that it works flawlessly. The problem is all in that window! It's impossible to submit before trying. It should have a short time persistence then automatically disappear. Add iMac 2,66 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with OsX 10.5.5 to compatible Mac list. MAGOSILVAN Very crude (not mature) app, above all in the manual. I didn't find a word about the secondary image or the meaning of the various settings which are really little intuitive (to obtain lines you must set polygon of six edges and proper sizes! Some info may be deducted only from the screenshots in authors site, but using it is still enigmatic. The Display window sometimes disappears. To PETER: it can open jpeg files, they must be dropped NOT in the big grey window but into the little "image well" on top right. (Version 2.0.1)

MilkyWay | Apr 2 2007 |
MAGOSILVAN I too truly like this app, but I've just discovered a little problem: if you try to empty the trash containing an image previewed with MilkyWay, the finder refuses to do this saying there is a file in use. It's a little thing if the file is on the main HD, but not if the file is on an external HD you want to unmount. In this case you must first close MilkyWay, then empty the trash, expell the HD and reopen MilkyWay. This not to criticize, but only to offer a solution to the weird problem. (Version 1.5.6)
