MACOLYTE I've been running Spirited Away for a year or two, and I don't know what computing would be without it. It does what it does, invisibly, with access right there on your menu bar. Brilliant software. (Version 0.7.2)

MACOLYTE It's really worrisome that this query went unanswered by the developer, isn't it? (Version 0.73.1)

iTunes Store Link Deleter | Oct 5 2008 |
MACOLYTE This worked *perfectly*, first time. You can hide the Genre column, and most others by 'right-clicking' (Control-Command Click) the column heading and deselecting the check mark next to it. Turning off the iTunes Store in Parental Controls turns off the iTunes Store, not the little arrows that link every element in a song's display line to the iTunes Store. This little app does what it says, and does it cleanly and easily. (Version 1.1)

MACOLYTE Turns out, this was all on me. The installer puts their server software in Libraries. You got to drag the application onto your drive. And they got back to me in less than 12 hours. Sorry to be such a fool. (Version 1.0.2)

MACOLYTE I've just downloaded and installed this. The installed said only that it was downloading to my internal drive. When I clicked to change location, it only showed drives, not directories within drives. So I installed to my internal drive and got confirmation from the installer. However, it's nowhere to be found on the drive, or any attached drive. The only thing that turns up in a search is the download document. I've emailed this exact explanation through the developer's website contact form. Will followup here with any responses I get. Can't help but wonder, though, just what that installer was doing. (Version 1.0.2)

PithHelmet | Nov 12 2007 |
MACOLYTE Took awhile to get this functioning. SIMBL had to be upgraded, and that meant finding and deleting the existing copy. You'll find it in users/(yourname)/library/inputmanagers. Delete the entire SIMBL folder, and your installation will fly. An additional perk - Twicetab suddenly announced itself installed! Anything else SIMBL related likely will, too. Mike, you might but the SIMBL notice somewhere prominent. I thought is was getting installed with PH, like Duct Tape does. PithHelmet is the slickest, most indispensable add on to Safari ever created. Thanks! (Version 2.8)

MACOLYTE Check out SpiritedAway, which does auto app switching, but also lets you designate apps to keep active when in the background. Should solve the 'have to stay in the app' problem (Version 1.1.1)

MACOLYTE Thanks for mentioning Spam Sieve and Transmit, my two indispensible shareware purchases. I wasn't really looking to demo until reading your comments. (Version 1.5.6)

MACOLYTE This review is great! The developer should use it as documentation. I was much more intrigued by this than the materials that I read with the app. Because of this review, I'll give it a serious try, (Version 0.2)

Apple Security Update | Jan 24 2007 |
MACOLYTE Airport is getting flukey since the update last night. "Page failed to load because you are not connected to the internet." Turning Airport off and back on is a simple fix, but it's getting anoying. No other problems noted. (And no good reason the symptom and the stated purpose of the update would be related, except for the immediate cause and effect.) (Version 2007-001)

Maui Wowee | Feb 25 2006 |
MACOLYTE This is an addictive puzzle game which escalates in difficulty as each puzzle is completed. You play against a very generous timer which permits you to increase your score by upgrading the values of tiles before finishing each/any puzzle. My only gripe, and it's minor, is that the automatic resolution shift makes switching between programs less than ideal, and sometimes the resolution doesn't switch back when Maui Wowee is quit. Not enough of a bug to keep me from playing, though. Oh. Doing ratings reminded me. There's a hreat feature which permits you to designate a folder full of MP3s, any MP3s you want, as the music for the game, and it plays flawlessly. (Version 1.1)

PithHelmet | Apr 16 2005 |
LARRY Beautiful hack. Worked like a charm. Thanks. The surge of panic I felt when I launched Safari and was faced with the 'didn't load PithHelmet' notice was maybe the single most telling endorsement I can give this fabulous plug-in. Mike Solomon, you da man. (Version 2.2)

G-Force | Nov 25 2004 |
LARRY The longer this runs on my pbG4, the more impressed I am with it. I commonly read with iTunes running through earphones and the g-force visualizer running on screen. The variety and inventiveness of g-force so far outstrips Apple's visualizer it's almost a different class of software altogether. The responsiveness and diversity of the patterns utilized, the humor inherent in their application, the clean, smooth classiness of the software are a testament to one dedicated, or very stoned, developer.
